U.S. Treasury’s New Racial Equity Chief Spent 10 Years as Director at La Raza Group

A veteran La Raza official who spent a decade at the nation’s most influential—and deep pocketed—open borders group has been appointed by the Biden administration to be the U.S. Treasury Department’s first ever Counselor for Racial Equity. Her name is Janis Bowdler and she served as Director of Economic Policy at the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the leftist organization that saw a dramatic increase in government funding during the Obama administration. Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo describes Bowdler as a “proud Latina” who will help the agency “focus on racial equity” and ensure “programs create opportunity in communities of color.”

Bowdler will coordinate the Treasury Department’s efforts to advance racial equity by engaging with diverse communities nationwide to identify and mitigate barriers to accessing benefits and opportunities, according to an announcement issued by the agency this week. That will include improving access to the child tax credit and understanding how community development financial Institutions and minority depository institutions can transform access to capital in communities of color. “The American economy has historically not worked fairly for communities of color,” Treasury Secretary Janet L. Yellen says in the statement. “The pandemic threw a spotlight on this inequity; people of color were often the first to lose their jobs and businesses. Treasury must play a central role in ensuring that as our economy recovers from the pandemic, it recovers in a way that addresses the inequalities that existed long before anyone was infected with COVID-19.” Bowdler was hired to devote her efforts to that mission, Yellen added.

Among the top priorities for the agency’s new appointee is creating a Racial Equity Advisory Committee to provide leadership with advice and expert counsel focused on advancing equity for communities that have historically been left behind. The new task force will include academics, researchers, industry leaders, community-based advocates, and philanthropists. Bowdler promises to deliver and keep with the Biden administration’s “commitment to centering racial equity in its work.” The Treasury’s new racial equity czar also offers some background that qualifies her for the new position at the agency charged with maintaining a strong economy and protecting the integrity of the financial system. “I have spent my entire career working in solidarity with Black, Latinx, AAPI, Native communities, and other communities of color to dismantle the structural and institutional racism that perpetuates the racial wealth divide,” Bowdler said this week. “Addressing racial and gender disparities and giving underserved communities greater access to opportunities creates more broadly shared prosperity for all.”

The political appointment of a high-ranking official dedicated solely to racial equity is only a small part of a broader plan to diversify the Treasury, which has around 100,000 employees worldwide. “We are also deeply committed to improving diversity and inclusion among the broader career Treasury workforce,” according to Adeyemo, the deputy secretary, who reveals that more than 40% of the agency’s political appointees identify as “people of color.” It is not enough, however. “With more people of color and people from different backgrounds and lived experiences at the decision-making and policy-making table, Treasury is better able to make policies and administer programs to reach more American families, businesses, and communities,” according to Adeyemo, who assures Bowdler is a perfect fit who started her career working to advance racial equity on the east side of Cleveland.

Of interesting note is that one of Bowdler’s recent accolades highlighted in the administration’s promotional materials is co-authoring a book with a disgraced Clinton cabinet official. His name is Henry Cisneros, and he was the 42nd president’s Housing and Urban Development (HUD) secretary before getting charged with 18 felonies for obstructing justice, conspiracy and lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about payments to a former mistress. At the time Cisneros was a rising star in the Democratic party and the highest-ranking Hispanic in the Clinton administration. The Bowdler-Cisneros book is titled “Building Equitable Cities: How to Drive Economic Mobility and Regional Growth.”

Record-Breaking Mexican Border Arrests, Caravan En Route, Panama Warns 65K More

Not only was the record for illegal immigrant apprehensions along the southern border shattered in 2021, the fiscal year, which ended in September, concluded with a bang—a final month spike of migrants from Haiti (132%), Turkey (89%), India (82%), Ukraine (81%) and even China (75%). The number of illegal aliens from Russia nearly doubled from 758 to 1,432 during the same period, according to year-end figures provided this month by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The chilling stats illustrate the magnitude of the national security and humanitarian crisis created by the Biden administration’s disastrous open border policies.

Federal agents apprehended an astounding 1,659,206 illegal immigrants at the southwest border in 2021, breaking the previous high of 1,643,679 in 2000. In fiscal year 2020, federal agents only arrested 400,651 on the southern border. The upsurge in just one year is difficult to grasp. Eight of the nine Border Patrol sectors saw triple-digit percentage increases in illegal immigrants over last year and one, Yuma in Arizona, reported an eye-popping 1,200.4% hike in apprehensions. The agency’s Del Rio sector in Texas had an unbelievable 542.7% surge. The Rio Grande Valley sector, also in Texas, saw a 508.7% increase and led all stations with 549,000 arrests. Del Rio reported 259,000 apprehensions which surpassed Border Patrol divisions in Texas and Arizona that typically see more traffic. Two other Texas stations, Big Bend and EL Paso, recorded apprehension gains of 331.9% and 256.5% respectively. Big Bend and El Centro in California were the only sectors that did not see six-digit apprehensions this year, though both reported major increases over 2020—331.9% for Big Bend and 115.4% for El Centro.

Most of the illegal aliens, 608,000, arrested by the U.S. in 2021 came from Mexico followed by the Central American nations of Honduras (309,000), Guatemala (279,000) and El Salvador (96,000). In the last month of the fiscal year, migrants from those four Latin American countries accounted for well over half (63.7%) of apprehensions along the Mexican border. The records show that 367,000 arrests included Haitians, Cubans, Brazilians, Venezuelans, and Ecuadorans. To top the year, Border Patrol encounters with Haitians rose from 7,590 in August to a startling 17,639 in September. The final month also saw big increases in migrants from other countries as well, including Venezuelans (71%), Romanians (49%) and Colombians (44%).

As the government released last year’s record-breaking figures, various Spanish-language news outlets report that the “mother of all caravans” (also known as the “march for liberty, dignity and peace.”) just embarked from the southern Mexican state of Chiapas, which borders Guatemala. One news story estimates that more than 4,000 illegal immigrants are in the caravan, which of course, is heading to the U.S. Another Spanish online article, which includes video of the caravan, says the group consists mainly of Haitians and Central Americans. Mexican authorities have reportedly committed to “respecting the rights” of the illegal aliens, allowing them to march through the country on the way to the American border. Mexico Foreign Affairs Secretary Marcelo Ebrard is quoted in a local news story saying that the government will act with prudence and caution in accordance to human rights laws, though he added that migrants are being fooled because they will not be allowed to enter the U.S.

It appears that the most recent caravan is just the beginning. A few weeks ago Panama’s foreign minister, Erika Mouynes, warned that there are more than 65,000 mostly Haitian illegal aliens ready to head north through Latin America. Since January, more than 86,000 migrants who arrived at the U.S.-Mexico border went through Panama, according to Mouynes. “We have been sounding the alarm for months about this,” the Panamanian official said in a Spanish news article published on September 29, adding that the numbers indicate migration will increase.

Minnesota’s fully vaccinated Democrat lieutenant governor gets COVID-19

-November 1, 2021

Lt. Gov. Flanagan caught COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated. The mainstream media tell us the odds of this happening are the same as being struck by lightning.

Minnesota Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, who is fully vaccinated, tested positive for COVID-19.

“I tested positive for COVID-19 after caring for our 8-year-old daughter who tested positive last week,” Flanagan announced in a Facebook post Saturday. “This pandemic is not over.” She also added how happy she is that her daughter can get vaccinated soon: “Like many parents, I’m so grateful that vaccines will soon be available for our 5-11 year olds.”

Flanagan said her daughter is slated to get the vaccine as soon as she’s recovered. The lieutenant governor said she will get a booster shot at the same time.

According to the mainstream media, Flanagan’s breakthrough case is incredibly unlucky. The New York Times and fact-checkers claim that the odds of a fully-vaccinated person suffering a breakthrough COVID infection are 1 in 10,000 in a highly-vaccinated state like Minnesota. This is the same likelihood that a person will get struck by lightning.

Apparently Flanagan isn’t the only high-profile, fully-vaccinated person to have terrible luck. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki disclosed Monday that she has COVID. Jon Bon Jovi also announced that he suffered a breakthrough case. Most notably, former Secretary of State Colin Powell died of a breakthrough case about two weeks ago. The odds that so many high-profile figures from highly-vaccinated areas would suffer breakthrough cases are incredibly small.

Unfortunately, the CDC is no longer tracking and reporting most COVID breakthrough cases, which makes it difficult to verify how effective the vaccine actually is.

Meanwhile, Flanagan said it’s still important for Minnesotans to get the shot. The same post that announced her breakthrough case contains links to websites showing how and where to get jabbed.

Poll: Just 22% of Minnesotans want CRT taught in public schools

Most Democrats trust teachers more than parents to make decisions about what children learn.

Only 22% of Minnesotans think critical race theory should be taught in public schools, according to a new Center of the American Experiment poll.

The poll found that only 33% of Minnesotans think critical race theory should be incorporated into the state’s social studies standards.

An overwhelming majority of Minnesotans (78%) don’t think companies should be allowed to fire an employee for their views on critical race theory.

Overall, Minnesotans trust parents the most to decide what gets taught to children in public schools. However, most Democrats (54%) trust teachers more than parents to make decisions about what children learn. Just 18% of Democrats think parents should be entrusted with these decisions.

“Minnesotans very quickly figured out that Critical Race Theory is influencing the education of our students and they want it to stop,” said John Hinderaker, president of the Center of the American Experiment. “These poll results should cause local school boards to listen to parents and put an end to their equity and inclusion programs that are heavily influenced by CRT.”

Gretchen Whitmer vetoes three voter integrity bills aimed at tightening voter ID laws

November 1, 2021

The leftist governor claims that the three GOP-backed bills would make it more difficult for individuals without state IDs to vote in elections. She also contends that most of those affected are people of color.

“These bills would disproportionately harm communities of color. … Non-white voters were about five times more likely to lack access to ID on election day than white voters,” Whitmer wrote in a letter sent to the state Senate on Friday. “Voter restrictions that produce such a racially disparate impact must never become law in this state.”

Senate Bill 303 eliminates the option for those who do not have identification to submit an affidavit in order to vote which many assert opens the door to voter fraud.

“There is no evidence that use of affidavit ballots is related to voter fraud,” Whitmer remarked in her letter. “Yet this voting restriction would disenfranchise the more than 18,000 voters who relied on the affidavit ballot in recent elections.”

Senate Bill 304 requires that voters using provisional ballots establish their identification within six days. Over 11,400 people in Michigan voted by provisional ballot in the 2020 election, according to the Associated Press.

House Bill 5007 eliminates certain fees that are related to obtaining an ID card. Those fees include a $10 fee for replacing or renewing a card. The fee is already waived for the elderly and those on welfare or disability.

Republicans and Democrats are massively at odds on the issue. Republicans assert that the bills would restore faith and trust in the electoral process. Democrats are siding with the governor and claim that they will harm minorities and other demographics.

“This was an irresponsible and solely partisan response to common-sense legislation that would protect our democratic system and is widely supported by Michiganders of all political stripes,” stated Michigan GOP spokesman Gustavo Portela.

“Proposal 3 made changes that weakened the integrity of our election system by allowing people to register and vote without ever being seen in-person,” Sen. Ruth Johnson, who is a former secretary of state, said in a statement slamming Whitmer’s vetoes.

“It also allows people to register and vote on Election Day without showing an ID and with no real-time system to check if they are eligible or have voted in another location. In the November 2020 election, over 20,000 people registered to vote in the 14 days before or on Election Day without presenting a Michigan driver’s license or personal identification card,” she pointed out.

“These bills are out of step with what we know Michigan voters want, a voting system that works for everyone,” Sharon Dolente, who is a senior adviser for the liberal ballot committee Promote the Vote, said. “Michigan law already requires voters to verify their identity prior to voting. These bills would impose a radically restrictive identity verification scheme rejected by 42 states.”

A conservative ballot committee called “Secure MI Vote” is circulating a petition that would circumvent Whitmer and her veto power. If the group is able to get 340,000 valid signatures within six months, the bills can be enacted by the GOP-controlled state legislature despite Whitmer’s pen.

“The governor may have vetoed this bill now, but once we finish this process, she will not be able to stop these changes,” spokesman Jamie Roe vowed in a statement.

Whitmer’s vetoes were met with disgust:
