Reminds me of the scene in Shogun (the book), where they do battle maneuvers with something like 9 observers present, representing the Shogun. Out come the guns on the field (not fired), showing what would happen in an actual battlefield situation. The observers are allowed to commit hara kiri, except for one coward who begs, and dies an ugly death.
