After months of setbacks, Biden finally gets long-sought win on infrastructure

Pandemic travel news: Russia and China fight record Covid outbreaks

After a long on-again, off-again back-and-forth standoff over whether they would muster the votes to pass President Biden’s bipartisan infrastructure bill, progressives finally folded like a cheap suit late Friday night and passed it, in exchange for almost nothing.

Sen Chuck Schumer dances night away in Puerto Rico without a face mask

Chuck Schumer was spotted celebrating the passing of President Biden's infrastructure bill on Friday night, but the Senate Majority Leader who was in Puerto Rico, appeared to let the win for the Democrats go to his head and forgot to wear a face mask.

Strict local rules on the Caribbean island are still in place and require those in public places indoors to wear face coverings, regardless of their vaccination status.

Schumer, 70, was seen embracing island life as he attempted to perform the merengue alongside New York City Council member Carlina Rivera who was also maskless.

'Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and pals in clear violation of Puerto Rico's indoor mask mandate,' tweeted Puerto Rican journalist Carlos Berríos Polanco. 'His dancing sucks too,' he added in a final barb.

Schumer, who was dressed in chinos and a white shirt looked as though he had just stepped out of the office and had his signature reading glasses balanced at the end of his nose as he continued to dance at a party being held in a hotel conference room.

Schumer was spotted at the annual SOMOS conference, a five day event that sees a mix of both past and present elected officials, lobbyists and consultants all schmoozing with one another.

A Chinese spy was convicted on US soil for trying to steal trade secrets from American aviation companies

The spy, Yanjun Xu, is the first Chinese intelligence officer to be extradited to the US to stand trial, the DoJ said. He was convicted by a jury of conspiring to and attempting to commit economic espionage and steal trade secrets.

Xu used "classic spy techniques" as he tried to "steal the valuable innovation and trade secrets of industry-leading American aviation technology companies," acting US attorney Vipal Patel said Friday.

FBI assistant director Alan Kohler said Xu's conviction should be "a wakeup call" that China was "stealing American technology to benefit their economy and military."

Prosecutors said that from at least December 2013, Xu paid US industry experts to travel to China under the guise of giving university presentations, covering their travel expenses and a stipend.

Xu tried to steal technology related to GE Aviation's composite aircraft engine fan, which no other company in the world has been able to duplicate, the DoJ said.

Xu targeted a GE Aviation employee based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the DoJ said. The employee, working with the FBI, later travelled to Belgium to meet Xu. Xu was arrested in Belgium on April 1, 2018, and was later extradited to the US.

Xu was convicted of two counts of conspiring and attempting to commit economic espionage, two counts of attempted theft of trade secrets, and one count of conspiracy to commit trade secret theft. He faces up to 60 years in jail and fines that could together be as high as $10.75 million.

Kash and Fiona

https://gulfnews.com/world/americas/who-is-kashyap-patel-indian-american-official-named-as-source-for-ukraine-info-at-trump-impeachment-1.1574444627072

Who is Kashyap Patel, Indian-American official named as source for Ukraine info at Trump impeachment

Patel, a US-born-and-bred lawyer with roots in Vadodara, who is the senior director of counter terrorism in the NSC, is a political appointee caught in the crossfire between Trump loyalists and those taking on the president.

During the impeachment hearing testimony by Fiona Hill, the former NSC Senior Director dealing with Ukraine, Schiff said, "The indication is that Kash Patel provided some information directly to the president without your knowledge."

"That seems to be the indication," she replied.

To reinforce the Democratic line that there was an unofficial parallel foreign policy set up dealing with Ukraine, Schiff said that Trump thought an individual was the director of Ukraine in the NSC and asked her who it was.

Hill said that the person was referred to only as "Kash" and "I had to search my mind. The only Kash I knew at the National Security Agency was Kash Patel."

Schiff asked her if he worked on Ukraine and reported to her, and she replied that Lt Col Alexander Vindman, who testified on earlier, was the director for Ukraine and she did not oversee Patel.

In secret hearings last month Vindman had told the panel investigating Trump for impeachment that Patel had misrepresented his expertise on Ukraine to the president.

Patel was also one of two Republican staffers on the committee who was dispatched to London in 2017 to try to make contact with the lawyers for dossier author Christopher Steele, without alerting the committee's Democrats, according to reports. Before joining the House Intelligence Committee in 2017, Patel was a lawyer working on counterterrorism cases in the Justice Department's National Security Division.

As everyone knowing how the Mafia operates fully expected, this report concludes, it was no surprise at all when Italian-American candidate Jack Ciattarelli became the Republican Party choice for governor of New Jersey—a race that pitted him against socialist Democrat Party Governor Phil Murphy—this past week it saw Murphy claiming victory after the leftist media said he won—that was swiftly followed by the Ciattarelli campaign slamming the leftist media as “irresponsible” for calling the vote this early for Murphy—that was followed by Ciattarelli posting a video declaring he has not conceded, and him saying that the election is far from over—in New Jersey today sees hundreds-of-thousands of votes left to be counted, and whose final certification won’t come until 2 December—in New Jersey today sees charges of election corruption flying around all over the place—today sees the leftist Washington Post screaming about this election in their article “In New Jersey, Republicans Are Trying To Discredit Another Free And Fair Election”, wherein they state: “The New Jersey Republican Party tweeted that the Republican National Committee had deployed 20 lawyers to New Jersey as part of “our election integrity team”…The largest such team ever assembled”—and though not being openly talked about, this New Jersey election is an actual war between the Mafia and socialist Democrats, one of whom fights with threats and screams, and the other with guns and bombs
