Local businesses in current particular area had always acted as though they were bestowing the utmost privllege by merely allowing you to give them your money for their overpriced products. Ceased buying "local" more than 15 years ago; Exceptions were when living in other areas which (unlike this black hole of a "suburb") had decent bussinesses & owners.
Other "choices" in current area have been crappy chains for years anyway, so was doing the bezozon thing until a few years ago.
Simply stopped shoppng altogether, aside from necessities and what could be found on non-bezozon sites.
Aside from food and toiletries, wouldn't miss any of the crap if it all disappeared tomorrow. Will wear old clothes & shoes until they fall apart. Stopped buying big "name" brand crap around 2005 or so, so the less options available. the less $$ spent. Have saved a bunch.
Will buy secondhand phone (only out of necissity/caregiver for senior, as current 3Gs will be extinct technology) with Lenux installed. It will have to be VoLTE, so will have to keep an eye…
tl/dr: garbage "businesses" had already made it more than easy to simply NOT shop at all unless unavoidably necessary. For folks in other areas/regions, envy those who can shop local! Have lived in such places. VERY nice.
