Delco Election Worker Sues Trump and Supporters Over 2020 Election Fraud Allegations

A Delaware County election worker filed a defamation lawsuit against former President Donald J. Trump, and several of his associates and supporters including former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, claiming he was harmed by remarks that Trump and the others made when they contended that Democrats stole the 2020 election.

In the lawsuit, filed in Common Pleas Court in Philadelphia,Chester resident James Savage alleges two Republican poll watchers accused him of uploading 50,000 votesfor now-President Joe Biden with a USB stick. Savage said he “did nothing of the sort.”

“All defendants herein knew that such fraud was impossible,” the suit said.

Their remarks caused Savage to be threatened with physical violence, damaged his reputation, and caused him to suffer two heart attacks, according to the suit.

“According to the most recent tally from the Pennsylvania Department of State, on November 3, 2020, President Biden defeated Defendant Trump by 80,555 votes,” the suit said. The defendants “engaged in a perfidiously concerted and wicked plan to knowingly and intentionally publish hollow and/or false and/or baseless and/or vacuous claims of voter fraud, election fraud, and/or vote tampering, with the express purpose of creating mass political confusion and social unrest in the City of Philadelphia and/or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania…and throughout the United States in general.”

The suit said statements made by the defendants “at or during the Gettysburg hearing, the Arlington Press Conference, the Hannity program and/or Fox News, and in any affidavit(s) attached…were knowingly false.”

“Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani are no match for a dedicated public servant like Jim Savage and a Philadelphia lawyer,” said attorney J. Conor Corcoran, who represents Savage.

Trump and the other defendants did not respond to requests for comments or could not be reached for comments on Thursday.

However, Trump was interviewed by AM 990 radio host Christ Stigall last week and spoke about the 2020 election.

“When I talk about the election fraud that took place in the 2020 race presidential election, don’t forget I got 75 million votes,” Trump said. “When you get 75 million votes—I got 63 million the first time and somebody said, ‘How do you compare the first and second?’…Well, I did much better in the second…I got 12 million more votes and we did a much better job…The people came out and voted like they’ve never voted before. No sitting president has ever come close. We ended up losing.

“Look at Pennsylvania, what happened with the closing of the Philadelphia (election office), the stuff that took place, the vote counts with everything,” Trump said. “Pennsylvania is terrible. I would say Philadelphia and Detroit, Milwaukee also, three of the worst places for voting, the mail-in votes. Philadelphia was horrible, what they did with the votes and the vote counting. Absolutely horrible…It was a disgrace.”

In the suit, Savage is demanding “$50,000 sufficient to fully compensate him, together with punitive damages, interest, costs of suit, and such further relief deemed equitable and just.”

PHILADELPHIA >Pennsylvania delegates were ready for the week ahead and while Bernie Sanders supporters expressed discontent with the leaked emails, they shared one sentiment with Hillary Clinton supporters: it’s anything but Donald Trump.

Yasmeen Kaboud, a 20-year-old delegate from the University City section of Philadelphia, said she was still trying to evaluate her own thoughts about what happened, although it didn’t surprise her.

“I think we’re still trying to process exactly what happened,” she said. “We were a little suspicious but now, it’s like confirmed, it’s real. We know that we weren’t just being paranoid. (I’m) just trying to process and see how it’s going to affect what we do going forward.”

Jim Savage of Linwood, Delaware County, sitting at the Pennsylvania Democrat Committee breakfast with his wife, Midge Hecker, said, ” I’m aggravated over it. But I think really, it just sort of confirms the things that people already.”

“Would it have mattered in the outcome?” he continued. “I’m not going to say that. I’m not going to say it was stolen. The fact is they didn’t conduct the ways they should have.”

He said those disparaging Sanders for being Jewish should be outright fired.

Savage said this fiasco makes it more difficult for the Democrats to accomplish what they want over the next few days.”

“I think that that makes what the party wants to do this week harder,” he said.

Shelly Rahman of Upper Darby, Delaware County, agreed.

“We didn’t need it on the eve of the historical convention,” she said.

Her excitement, however, remained steadfast.

“I was there to nominate the first black president of the country and I’m here to nominate the first woman president,” she said.

“Both times,” her husband, Abu, said, “I was the driver.”

“Isn’t he lucky?” Shelly smiled.

The Sanders delegates are also looking to have a good time.

“It’s exciting, fun,” Savage said. “I’m looking forward to the actual convention.”

He said he spent Sunday at an AFL-CIO event and delegate parties', including the one at the Sugarhouse casino held by U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, D-1, of Philadelphia.

“Nobody throws a party like Bob Brady,” Savage said.

Kaboud herself hopes to create good memories while at the convention.

“I’m here to get the most experience out of this,” she said. “I will be doing everything that I can to have a good experience here, a memorable experience.”

Asked if she would vote for Trump, she said absolutely not.

“For me personally, … the biggest thing we have to fear right now is a Trump presidency,” the Muslim said. “I would abstain before I vote for Donald Trump.”

She explained her reasoning.”One of the biggest reasons why I don’t support Trump at all (is) just because his policies are blatantly un-American and discriminatory,” she said.

“This is really a personal election for me,” she added. “I will do my best to not have Trump be president.”

On the first day of the convention, Savage said there have been moments of difficulty as a Sanders supporter.

“It’s kind of been a lot of party people and Hillary supporters….sort of telling Bernie supporters grow up and get over it and it just makes that harder,” he said.

When asked about voting for Trump, Savage pointedly said, “No, I’m a Hillary voter.”

Then, he quickly added, “I’m a Bernie voter until he releases me and then I’m a Hillary voter.”

Organizational assessment. A consultant report with recommendations on organizational restructuring and staffing responsibilities based on the scope of the work to be done will be made available to the public. Mr. Lazarus provided details about the County leasing additional office space at The Wharf at Rivertown, 2501 Seaport Drive in Chester for Election Bureau operations to house an expanded staff and vote processing equipment starting September 1, 2020. Ms. Lunkenheimer moved a motion to designate the proposed lease space as a county election office and a second related motion to recommend to County Council that they fulfill the lease requirements and assist and pay for operations at the new space and seconded by Mr. Byrne.
