Trump, as everyone knows by now, is planning to launch a social media and streaming service and to merge with a SPAC to make it all happen. Regulators have a lot of questions, but that’s a sideshow compared to the main event: How many Fox News viewers will turn to the Trump network?
In a securities filing Monday, Trump Media and Technology Group laid out its plan to create two enterprises: Truth Social and a streaming service. Truth Social projected it will have 81 million users in five years, making it a bit less than a quarter Twitter’s current size. Trump Media says 15 million users are “potentially monetizable.”
The bigger opportunity is in the streaming service, which will charge subscribers $9 a month. Trump Media reckons it will have 40 million subscribers by 2026, about the same as Hulu. The streaming service puts Trump in direct competition with Murdoch for the first time.
