I think it was a bit more twisted than that. I think Smollett was going to be used to help push Kamala into the general. She was going to be the anti lynch candidate (like we needed one of those) and he was going to be the lynchee. As Kamala campaigned he was supposed to travel with her, share his fake story and crocodile tears with the rubes, and end every speech with "this is why we
need Kamala, she's anti lynch, stop the Trump Nazi supporters." Then it would wrap up with a nice bow on top with her as POTUS.
Kamala was always the establishment's number one choice, they lied to us the day she announced, claiming 20,000 people showed up. Who the hell has 20k people on their first day campaigning for President? Bernie and Trump had to build up to those numbers, but Kamala a little known senator had that many on announcement day? Yeah fucking right. Smollett's lynching story was to give the campaign wings, and his acting ability, spots on Kimmel, Cobert, and Don Lemon were to cover for Kamala's lack of charisma and
