A Russian state television host threatened on Sunday that the U.S. could be “reduced to radioactive ash” if it does not meet the demands laid out by Russia for deescalating tensions around Ukraine.

Russia demanded that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) should roll back military deployments in eastern Europe and bar Ukraine and other post-Soviet nations from joining the alliance. News of the Week state-TV host Dmitry Kiselyov went on a lengthy monologue about why the U.S. and NATO should meet Russia’s demands.

“The U.S. and NATO must roll back from our borders, otherwise we will, figuratively speaking, ‘roll up’ to their borders and create symmetrical, unacceptable risks… If you put a gun to our head, we will respond in kind,” Kiselyov said.

Kiselyov went on to say, “Never before has anyone published the texts of the proposed treaties, but never before in the 21st century has the situation been so acute, and the risks so great.”

“We’re holding very strong cards in our hands,” the Russian TV host continued. “Our hypersonic weapons are guaranteed to produce a response that is so unpleasant for America to hear: being reduced to radioactive ash.”

Kiselyov’s remarks touted the flight speeds demonstrated in recent tests of Russian hypersonic weapons, like the Zircon missile.

Experts Claim Fully Vaccinated Individuals With Breakthrough Infections Will Develop “Super-Immunity” – Also Called Natural Immunity?

In the latest ridiculous claim to promote the experimental vaccine, researchers from the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) are now saying that fully vaccinated individuals who experience a breakthrough Covid-19 infection will develop “super-immunity” from the virus.

Earlier this week, OHSU released a study titled “Antibody Response and Variant Cross-Neutralization After SARS-CoV-2 Breakthrough Infection” that showed a massive spike in antibodies in individuals who were fully vaccinated after they experienced an infection.

The participant’s immune response was so powerful that researchers deemed recovering from Covid is an unbelievable “1,021 percent” increase than the protection provided by the experimental vaccine without catching the virus.

From the study:

Results of this study showed substantial boosting of humoral immunity after breakthrough infection, despite predominantly mild disease.

In breakthrough cases against the Delta variant [were] 2482 (95% CI, 1072-4923), compared with 243 (95%CI, 118-336) for controls (1021% increase; P < .001) (Figure 2A).

Sera from Delta breakthrough cases displayed improved potency against the Delta variant at 99% (95% CI, 73-151) of WA1 neutralization for each participant, compared with 36% (95% CI, 33-52) for non-Delta cases and 41% (95% CI, 24-56) for controls (Figure 2B).

Simple translation: The vaccines don’t work – the data clearly shows that in order to gain an effective immune response against Covid, one must take the jab, catch the virus, and recover.

So what exactly is the point of the vaccines again?

Yet somehow, the study’s authors conclude that vaccines give you “super-immunity,” and say we need “variant boosters with antigenic inserts” in order to combat future mutations of the virus.

What a joke. Is this truly what science has been reduced to?

Not only does their own data prove that the fully vaccinated have a 1,000 percent less effective immune response because of a substantial lack of antibodies provided by the vaccine, but researchers also did not include ANY unvaccinated individuals to serve as a control group to compare the results to, which creates a massive flaw in their claims.

“Fully vaccinated health care workers subsequently diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 breakthrough infection based on a positive polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result were sequentially recruited at the Oregon Health & Science University between January 31, 2021, and August 18, 2021. Only those with no history of previous infection whose test results were negative for nucleocapsid antibodies were included.

Controls were fully vaccinated individuals without a breakthrough infection matched on sex, age, time between vaccine doses, and time between sample collection and most recent antigen exposure (PCR confirmation for those with breakthrough infection and final vaccine dose for controls).”

Germany’s ethics council rules on mandatory vaccination

Germany’s leading ethics body has supported the idea of extending mandatory coronavirus vaccination to all adults, stressing, however, that direct coercion and use of “physical violence” on the unvaccinated must remain off-limits.

The country’s Ethics Council said Wednesday it was in favor of rolling out mandatory Covid jabs for all aged 18 and above. The council is an independent body, established under the federal government and the Bundestag, and provides advice on legal, ethical, social and scientific issues in Germany.

The idea of compulsory inoculation against Covid-19 was supported by a narrow majority of the body’s members, 13 out of 24, while a more moderate expansion of the existing vaccination mandate received the support of 20 of the experts. Currently, Germany has a mandate in place only for certain groups of healthcare workers.

High vaccination rates are crucial for controlling the pandemic, the council stated, noting that “the German healthcare system is reaching its limits in many places.”

“Viral variants such as Omicron and expected further variants of the virus are forcing experts to constantly reassess their estimates of the future course of the pandemic,” the body added.

At the same time, the council warned that mandatory vaccination – or a broader vaccine mandate – are not a “panacea” to fix the coronavirus situation. Ramping up vaccination can “only be justified if it is able to mitigate or prevent serious negative consequences of possible future pandemic waves.” It also should come alongside other measures – namely a broad, easy-to-understand information campaign to promote taking a jab, the council stressed.

“Compulsory vaccination cannot break the current fourth wave in the short term. Similarly, mandatory vaccination cannot be a panacea for the pandemic; it can only be considered as part of a comprehensive, evidence-based, differentiated and forward-looking overall pandemic strategy,” it said.

US Army Developing World's First "Universal" COVID Vaccine As Original Jabs Await Final Approval

While the full approval of the best-selling mRNA vaccines by the FDA remains elusive, the US is already working on giving the 'Supersoldiers of Tomorrow' a leg up by developing a "universal" COVID vaccine that will supposedly be effective against all future variants. The US Army is wrapping up early clinical trials of the new jab in the coming weeks.

Named SpFN, for Spike Ferritin Nanoparticle, the new jab has reportedly shown promise in non-human primate trials and early human trial results are expected to begin in December, according to a press release from the US Army Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.

The vaccine is intended to be a jumping off point for a forward-thinking "pan-SARS" strategy that aims to address the current pandemic and acts as a first line of defense against variants of concern and similar viruses that could emerge in the future.

"The accelerating emergence of human coronaviruses throughout the past two decades and the rise of SARS-CoV-2 variants, including most recently Omicron, underscore the continued need for next-generation preemptive vaccines that confer broad protection against coronavirus diseases," said Dr. Kayvon Modjarrad, Director of the Emerging Infectious Diseases Branch at WRAIR, co-inventor of the vaccine and the US Army lead for SpFN. "Our strategy has been to develop a 'pan-coronavirus' vaccine technology that could potentially offer safe, effective and durable protection against multiple coronavirus strains and species."

SpFN entered Phase 1 human trials in April 2021. Early analyses, expected to conclude this month, will provide insights into whether SpFN’s potency and breadth, as demonstrated in preclinical trials, will carry over into humans.

The data will also help researchers compare SpFN’s immunity profile to those of other COVID vaccines already authorized for emergency use.

"This vaccine stands out in the COVID-19 vaccine landscape," Modjarrad said. "The repetitive and ordered display of the coronavirus spike protein on a multi-faced nanoparticle may stimulate immunity in such a way as to translate into significantly broader protection."

Millions of people sent into Covid lockdown in China

Authorities in China’s Xi'an have put the city on lockdown, closing all non-essential shops and barring all restaurants from opening, after reporting some 140 domestically transmitted Covid cases in the last 10 days.

In a press conference on Wednesday, officials in Xi'an announced the implementation of new measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. All non-essential shops will be temporarily closed, while dine-in eateries will not be allowed open until the number of coronavirus infections falls.

From Thursday, only one person in each household can leave their home to visit essential shops every two days. Everyone else must remain home unless they have jobs deemed essential by the government, official Zhang Fenghu said.

City authorities also called on people not to leave Xi’an unless they had taken a Covid-19 test and received a negative result. According to state broadcaster CCTV, local authorities had already persuaded some 7,000 people not to leave the city.

Large-scale conferences, training days, garden parties and dances are among a long list of events and activities prohibited by the local government in an effort to limit the spread of Covid. Businesses have also been encouraged to provide flexible work arrangements for employees.

Covid testing measures and temperature scanning will be stepped up, according to officials.

The northwestern city, home to 13 million people, has reported more than140 locally transmitted infections with confirmed symptoms since December 12. The cluster was reportedly caused by the Delta variant of Covid-19.

Beijing has signaled its desire to stamp out new Covid clusters as soon as they emerge. Recent research has also sparked concerns about the efficacy of Chinese vaccines against the latest variant of Covid-19, the highly contagious Omicron strain, compared to earlier versions of the virus.

Milwaukee County residents have officially asked Governor Tony Evers to fire District Attorney John Chisholm. Evers says he’ll take the complaint seriously.

Wisconsin state law allows the governor to oust a district attorney for cause, but it requires a verified complaint filed by a taxpayer of the jurisdiction, which then starts a process. That document was handed over to the governor, asking Evers to remove Chisholm from office. …

“I think it’s in his best interest, and clearly, it’s in the best interest of the people of southeast Wisconsin to fire John Chisholm and make southeast Wisconsin a safer place,” said Orville Seymer, the complaint organizer who is also with conservative group Citizens for Responsible Government. Another conservative group, Empower Wisconsin, first reported the existence of the document, which FOX6 confirmed.

Seymer and six others signed the notarized, formal complaint asking Evers to remove Chisholm, pointing to the bail offered to the Waukesha Christmas Parade suspect before the attack.

“We’ve got six people dead, including an 8-year-old boy, people’s mothers and grandmothers, and there are thousands of people around southeast Wisconsin who are thinking, ‘That could have been my son, that could have been my mother, that could have been my grandmother’ and John Chisholm knew this could have happened,” said Seymer.

Airline CEO Calls For Unvaccinated "Idiots" To Be Ostracised From Society

Michael O’Leary, the CEO of Ryanair has declared that anyone who remains unvaccinated should be completely cut off from society, including not being allowed to travel, go to the supermarket to get food, or the pharmacy to get medicine.

“If you’re not vaccinated, you shouldn’t be allowed in the hospital, you shouldn’t be allowed to fly, you shouldn’t be allowed on the London Underground, and you shouldn’t be allowed in the local supermarket or your pharmacy either,” the airline executive said, as reported by The Telegraph

“You can sit at home and you know, get your deliveries of medicines and food. But you should not, you know, go to work or go on public transport unless you have a vaccine certificate,” O’Leary clarified.

O’Leary admitted that making vaccines compulsory is “an infringement of your civil liberties,” but added that the way around it is “you simply make life so difficult. Or [make it that] there are lots of things that you can’t do unless you get vaccinated.”

Calling the unvaccinated “idiots,” the Ryanir boss further stated “I don’t think that governments should permit those people who are not vaccinated to go and infect everybody else.”

O’Leary sardonically stated “We recognise the rights of everybody to decide not to get vaccinated if you so want. If you personally object to vaccination, because it’s some huge government/big pharma conspiracy; apart from the fact that you would be plainly an idiot, we respect your right to be an idiot.”

Ryanair was previously punished by the advertising standards agency in the UK after running a campaign promoting the sale of summer flights with a “Jab & Go!” gimmick despite having previously stated that it wouldn’t require passengers to take a COVID vaccine before they fly.

As we previously reported, other airlines have indicated they will not allow passengers who haven’t had the vaccine to fly, including Singapore Airlines, which became the first carrier to officially launch a COVID passport.

A year ago, UK travel agency announced it would be boycotting Qantas over its ‘no vaccine, no flight’ policy, saying travelers should have freedom of choice, now however, it appears that vaccine passes are becoming ubiquitous and will be adopted be every airline.

Trump reveals why he didn’t pardon Snowden or Assange

Former President Donald Trump has said he was “very close to going the other way” on issuing a pardon for Julian Assange or Edward Snowden before he left the White House, ultimately deciding not to grant clemency to either.

During an interview with the Daily Wire’s Candace Owens this week, Trump was asked why he failed to issue pardons to WikiLeaks co-founder Assange and National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Snowden, which activists had been pushing for in the president’s final months in office.

“You have two sides of it,” Trump said. He described their separate situations as, respectively, a “sort of a spy deal going on” and “somebody that’s exposing real corruption,” but without indicating which description applied to which person, concluding only that he felt “a little bit more strongly about one than the other.”

Media reports earlier this year indicated Trump had been convinced by aides that an Assange or a Snowden pardon would upset Senate Republicans, who were gearing up to vote in his impeachment trial at the time. He also appeared to negatively reference Assange and “spying” at one point, though he did not elaborate.

“There [were] some spying things, and there [were] some bad things released that really set us back and really hurt us with what they did,” he said, according to the Daily Wire. It was alleged during the opening stages of Assange’s extradition hearing in London last year that the journalist had been offered a pardon in exchange for spinning the origin of hacked Democratic emails sent during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The White House denied the claim and said the president “barely” knew the Republican congressman through which the deal had allegedly been offered. The congressman, in turn, said he had made the proposal on his own initiative and the White House had not endorsed it.

Trump said he had ultimately decided to let the issue be handled in the courtroom. “I guess the courts are actually doing that,” he said.

Assange is currently being held in a UK prison, from where it was recently ruled he can be extradited to the US to stand trial on espionage charges for having published documents related to alleged US war crimes during the Afghanistan and Iraq campaigns. He faces up to 175 years in prison if convicted. His mental and physical health has deteriorated during his 20 months of incarceration, and he recently suffered a stroke.

Snowden, who has remained a fugitive from the US since whistleblowing on the NSA for unconstitutional spying on the American public in 2013, seemed a more likely candidate for a presidential pardon. The former president said last year he was “looking” at Snowden’s case, noting that many felt he had “not been treated fairly.” This about-face surprised many commentators, given that Trump had previously referred to the former NSA contractor as a “spy who should be executed.”

Twitter sued, accused of acting ‘on behalf’ of US govt

Former New York Times reporter and outspoken critic of the US response to the Covid pandemic Alex Berenson is suing Twitter for suspending his account, claiming the platform “acted on behalf of the federal government.

In the lawsuit, filed this week in the Northern District of California, Berenson accused Twitter of breach of contract and of violating his First Amendment rights.

The alleged breach of contract stems from the fact that Berenson claims a Twitter executive had repeatedly assured him that he would be free to express his views on the platform without fear of retaliation.

“Despite the controversy around his statements, a senior Twitter executive repeatedly assured Mr. Berenson that the company backed his right to free expression and that he would continue to enjoy access to the platform,” Berenson’s lawyers said in the suit.

The independent reporter and best-selling author was reportedly suspended from Twitter in August over a tweet questioning whether Covid vaccines could actually prevent infection and transmission of the virus, referring to them as “therapeutic” drugs. A Twitter spokesperson at the time said Berenson was permanently suspended for “repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation rules.”

In the tweet, Berenson wrote: “It doesn’t stop infection. Or transmission. Don’t think of it as a vaccine. Think of it – at best – as a therapeutic with a limited window of efficacy and terrible side effect profile that must be dosed IN ADVANCE OF ILLNESS.”

Berenson argues the platform acted on behalf of the Biden administration in censoring his posts, as the president himself had criticized “misinformation” about Covid spreading on social media only days before the author’s suspension.

He is also claiming in his lawsuit that a California law applying to “common carriers” applies to Twitter. The legislation, dating back to 1872, regulates companies that “offer to the public to carry persons, property, or messages.”

Berenson’s lawyers argue the legislation is relevant to the suit as the “courts have repeatedly applied the 1872 law to telephone companies and other technologies that did not exist at the time it was enacted,” adding that Twitter does not have the publishing freedom typically afforded due to the common carrier law.

Berenson has drawn the ire of some political activists and health officials for his views on the pandemic. The author has criticized media coverage of Covid-19 and its lethality, as well as government lockdowns and vaccine mandates. The Atlantic dubbed him “the pandemic’s wrongest man” in April.

The Washington, D.C., public school librarian under fire for recently forcing third-graders to re-enact the Holocaust is reportedly a failed Democratic school board candidate from New Jersey who has been convicted of fraud and charged with several counts of animal abuse.

Kimberlynn Jurkowski, 61, was placed on leave this week after news broke that she "traumatized" young children by making them role-play simulated shootings and gas chamber deaths during a library lesson last Friday. One student was even forced to play murderous tyrant Adolf Hitler, and others re-enacted digging mass graves while the librarian made anti-Semitic comments and instructed the children not to tell their parents about the lesson.

But the Washington Free Beacon reported Tuesday that Jurkowski should have been a controversial hire for the D.C. public school system long before the incident, given her sketchy background, which included defrauding the state of New Jersey out of nearly $24,000.

While serving as a school librarian in Atlantic City, Jurkowski engaged in a tutoring scam by taking advantage of the district's agreement to pay for the tutoring of Jurkowski's two children. After the tutoring ended, she and the tutor continued to bill the district for another six months. The two were eventually caught, and Jurkowski was convicted of fraud.

During her time in New Jersey, Jurkowski also ran unsuccessfully for a local school board position, according to a post on her Twitter account telling of her candidacy. But the Free Beacon reported on Tuesday that "there is no record of Jurkowski serving on the school board for Hamilton Township in Atlantic County, where she says she ran for office."

Former Virginia Gov. Chuck Robb’s mansion turns into flaming inferno

Former Gov. Chuck Robb’s Virginia mansion went up in flames late Tuesday.

Firefighters arrived at the two-alarm fire on the 600 block of Chain Bridge Road in McLean, Va., at 11:30 p.m. The fire had spread throughout the home’s first floor.

Two people escaped the home and were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

There’s no indication if the people were Robb and his wife, Lynda, daughter of President Lyndon B. Johnson.

Fairfax Fire officials announced the fire was under control following the three-hour battle.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.

Witnesses in Washington, DC, captured the massive house fire from across the Potomac River on social media.

The 82-year-old politician has owned the property, which is valued at $3.4 million, since 1973, according to InsideNova.

Robb served as governor of Virginia from 1982 to 1986. He was later elected to the US Senate, where he served until 2001.

Outgoing NIH Director Francis Collins Laments Not Doing More Research On ‘Human Behavior’.

Outgoing National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins expressed regret his agency “under-invested in research in human behavior” while lamenting the choice of tens of millions of Americans to not receive a COVID-19 jab.

Collins’s departure comes amidst intense scrutiny over the National Institutes of Health funding research on “killer” bat viruses with the Wuhan Institute of Virology, believed by many to be the source of COVID-19.

Speaking with PBS NewsHour before departing the NIH, Collins appeared to regret not investing more in researching “human behavior”:

Maybe we under-invested in research in human behavior. I never imagined a year ago that there would be 60 million people who refused/declined to get the vaccine because of misinformation & disinformation”

Collins, who led the NIH during the agency’s controversy of funding live fetal organ harvesting, repeatedly invoked his Christian faith during the interview.

“I’m really fortunate to be someone who has both a scientific approach and a spiritual approach” asserted Collins.

“That means that the laboratory is also potentially a cathedral, because what we’re doing is to learn how to be even more amazed at what we have been given as human beings surrounded by a beautiful world,” he added.

Collins’s resignation also follows The National Pulse linking the doctor to several Chinese Communist Party and Chinese military-linked research initiatives, which he has funded with U.S. taxpayer dollars. Collins is also the boss of Anthony Fauci, whose National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseased (NIAID) funded “gain of function” research – the manipulation of viruses to increase their virulence and lethality – with Wuhan.

Hungary to Defy EU Court Ruling Over Migration Policy, Orban Says

Hungary will not change its immigration laws despite a European court ruling, Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on Tuesday.

Orban said illegal immigration and LGBTQ rights, two issues that have caused conflict with the European Union, would dominate the agenda as his Fidesz party prepares for its first contested election after three landslides since 2010.

The row over democratic standards has led to a freeze in EU recovery funding to Hungary, complicating Orban’s path to re-election because the economy relies heavily on the funds to finance investment and boost growth.

The 58-year-old premier faces a united opposition as inflation hits at a 14-year-high, the economy is headed for a slowdown, and the budget deficit has surged to record levels due to high pre-election spending.

Earlier this month, Hungary’s Constitutional Court avoided ruling on the primacy of European Union law in deciding on a disputed government move against immigration, staving off a deeper crisis after a similar Polish challenge sent shock waves through Europe.

The court had considered a challenge by Orban’s government to an EU court finding that Budapest broke EU laws by deporting refugees over the border into Serbia.

The court said Budapest had the right to apply its own measures in areas where the EU has yet to take adequate steps for common implementation of EU rules as well as to safeguard its national identity, which Orban took as vindication of his policies.

“The government decided that we will not do anything to change the system of border protection,” Orban told a news conference. “We will maintain the existing regime, even if the European court ordered us to change it.

“We will not change it and will not let anyone in.”

Orban, whose anti-immigration stance boosted support for Fidesz after the 2015 migrant crisis, also said he would pursue another contested issue, a referendum on LGBTQ rights in the run-up to the election.

Orban casts himself as the defender of traditional Hungarian values against “LGBT ideology.”

In the referendum, Hungarians will be asked whether they support the holding of sexual orientation workshops in schools without parental consent and whether they believe gender reassignment procedures should be “promoted” among children.

D.C. Reports Highest Coronavirus Cases Per Capita in Nation

Washington, DC, is reporting the highest coronavirus cases per capita in the nation, Wednesday’s data found, as a host of new restrictions are introduced.

The nation’s capital is currently experiencing a spike in coronavirus cases, despite its history of being one of the mitigation-heavy cities in the country throughout the pandemic, including extended lockdowns and mask mandates.

According to the Washington Post’s coronavirus tracker, D.C. has the highest daily reported cases in the nation per 100,000. The seven-day rolling average of daily new cases in the nation’s capital is 133, representing a 396 percent increase in the last week. The U.S., overall, is reporting 47 per capita, while Rhode Island is reporting 118, New York is reporting 104, and New Hampshire is reporting 88 per 100,000, rounding out the top tier, per the Post’s data:

Chaos: 13 Omicron Testing Clinics Close in NYC, NJ, Defying Biden’s Testing Site Expansion

Thirteen urgent care medical clinics closed in New York City and New Jersey on Wednesday, defying President Biden’s promise on Tuesday to expand omicron testing sites throughout the region.

CityMD, an urgent care medical clinic, which participates in testing New Jersey and New York state residents for coronavirus, has closed 13 clinics due to labor shortages fueled by the omicron variant.

“To preserve our ability to staff our sites, we are temporarily closing certain locations effective tomorrow, December 22. It is our hope that closing sites now will best allow us to avoid future closures as this surge continues,” the organization announced on their website.

The closures will take place in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Long Island, Manhattan, Queens, Westchester, and New Jersey.

“Thank you for your patience, and for your appreciation of our hard-working teams who are coping with the extraordinary demand in the midst of the holiday season,” CityMD continued.

UK to Offer Homeless Accommodation in Exchange for Getting Vaccinated

The British government will begin offering free temporary accommodation to homeless people on the condition that they come forward to be vaccinated against the Chinese coronavirus.

While the government is currently providing free housing — irrespective of vaccination status — to tens of thousands of alleged asylum seekers, homeless Britons will need to agree to get vaccinated to receive the same benefit.

A £28 million funding increase to the government’s Protect and Vaccinate programme will see additional money provided to set up clinics, ramp up outreach in homeless shelters, and to subsidise accommodation for rough sleepers who get vaccinated, The Telegraph reported.

The government is said to be concerned that homeless people have refused the jab over fears of experiencing side effects while being on the streets.

Hailing the move, the president of the association of public health, Professor Jim McManus said: “It’s important to get people off the streets when they have a vaccine, in case they have the normal flu-like reaction. Trying to keep yourself warm, when your body is having an immune response to a vaccine, and when you’re in the freezing cold, is awful.”

The homeless population is once again facing another rough winter, with many shelters shutting their doors due to fears over the Omicron variant.

Last week, the charity Glass Door told The Guardian that it has been forced to close its usual service, citing concerns about being able to enforce socially distancing and other concerns over the new variant.

Britain’s largest provider of voluntary homeless shelters, Housing Justice said that it has been forced to cut the number of beds provided in half since the pandemic, with just 950 beds currently open to rough sleepers.

The government’s minister for rough sleeping, Eddie Hughes celebrated the move to offer shelter in exchange for vaccination, saying: “In the wake of a surge in Covid-19 cases and a new variant, we have an even greater responsibility to protect vulnerable people.”

The scheme has drawn some backlash, however, including from political commentator Darren Grimes, who said: “We should be housing our nation’s rough sleepers without any caveats.

“I’m pro-vaccine but it turns my stomach to see us become a nation that requires medical intervention for shelter.”

“We’re housing those that break into our country in fancy hotels; if we can do that without requiring a vaccine, surely we can look after our own people without it?” Grimes questioned.

According to the charity Crisis, there were around 200,000 people living on the streets in Britain in 2020.

Homelessness severely increases the risk of mortality, with the average death of homeless men being 47 years old and 43 for women, compared to 79 and 83 respectively for the general population.

At the same time as hundreds of thousands of Britons are sleeping rough on the streets, the latest government figures have shown that 64,000 alleged asylum seekers are being housed at taxpayer expense.

WH would mandate vax proof for travel if impact ‘overwhelming,’ Psaki says

White House press secretary Jen Psaki admitted Wednesday that the Biden administration would require proof of vaccination for domestic travel “if the health impact is overwhelming” amid the latest COVID-19 surge.

During an appearance by Psaki on MSNBC’s “Way Too Early,” host Jonathan Lemire pointed out that Americans are about to travel “in what could be … record numbers for the holidays.”

“So why isn’t a vaccination requirement for domestic travel part of the president’s plan during this COVID surge?” Lemire asked.

“That’s a good question, Jonathan. I think it’s one we get asked pretty frequently,” Psaki replied.

“It’s because we know that masking can be — is very effective on airplanes. That’s a restriction that we’ve also increased the fines on so we know that people are wearing masks, more people are wearing masks,” she added.

The press secretary went on to note that putting a vaccination requirement in place might delay flights and could have “additional implications.”

“And we would do it, though, if the health impact was overwhelming,” she acknowledged. “So we rely always on the advice of our health and medical experts. That isn’t a step at this point that they have determined we need to take.”

Currently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that Americans refrain from traveling within the US unless they are fully vaccinated. The CDC also advises travelers who are not fully vaccinated to get tested before and after their trip.

Earlier this month, President Biden announced that travelers to the US from international destinations must test negative for COVID-19 within 24 hours of their flight regardless of vaccination status or country of origin — reducing the acceptable window for a negative test from 72 hours.

FBI Agent Accused of Beating Wife Bloody Serves Just 2 Days in Jail After Pleading No Contest

Richard Trask, the disgraced top FBI agent suspected of entrapping more than a dozen men in a "kidnapping plot" targeting Gretchen Whitmer, pleaded no contest on Monday to aggravated assault charges over allegations he beat his wife bloody after a swingers party.

A judge sentenced him to only two days of time served and no probation.

Former FBI Special Agent Richard Trask, the lead investigator in the Gov. Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping conspiracy case, pleaded no contest Monday to aggravated assault charges stemming from allegations he beat his wife in July after returning home from a swingers party.

Trask entered the plea to the misdemeanor offense before Kalamazoo County Circuit Judge Gary Giguere, court officials said. He was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay court costs.

The former special agent had worked for FBI since 2011 and served as the FBI's public face in the Whitmer case, testifying in federal court about the investigation. He has worked on cases involving espionage, terrorism and domestic extremism investigations.

Trask, 39, of Kalamazoo, was the public face of the FBI in the Whitmer investigation. He testified in court proceedings for five men awaiting trial in federal court on a range of charges, including kidnapping and weapons of mass destruction conspiracies.

Romanians protesting against COVID passes try to storm parliament

Mostly maskless far-right demonstrators converge outside parliament, waving national flags, blocking traffic and chanting ‘freedom’.

Romanian protesters have tried to force their way into parliament, blocking traffic and vandalising some cars in the capital Bucharest in an attempt to prevent lawmakers from making a COVID-19 health pass mandatory for workers.

Riot police were caught off guard on Tuesday when hundreds of protesters poured in through a yard gate, spray painting cars and forcing security staff to block the building’s entryways. The protesters later left. The police did not use force.

While the governing coalition of centrists and left-wingers is currently negotiating the terms of a health pass mandate, no such bill is on parliament’s legislative agenda at the moment.

An estimated 2,000-2,500 mostly maskless demonstrators from across the country gathered outside parliament in the morning, waving Romanian flags and chanting “Freedom,” in a protest organised by the opposition ultra-nationalist Alliance for Uniting Romanians (AUR).

Chaos briefly ensued as dozens forced their way into the parliament building courtyard and some tried to access the building but were stopped by riot police.

Romania, a European Union nation of about 19 million, faced its deadliest surge of coronavirus infections and deaths through October and November when intensive care units across the country were overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients, and hospital morgues ran out of space.

In response to the unfolding disaster, authorities tightened restrictions in late October, and daily coronavirus cases have since dropped to their lowest since August.

Authorities are now looking at ways to try to avert another grim virus surge – now a real concern after Romania confirmed more than a dozen cases of the Omicron coronavirus variant.

Also in October, Romanian senators narrowly rejected a bill requiring medical staff, public sector workers and those of large privately-owned firms to carry a COVID-19 health pass which was aimed at boosting vaccine uptake.

The coalition government is negotiating a new bill that would require most workers to show they are either vaccinated, have recovered from the virus or have a recent negative test, but have yet to agree on who pays for testing and for how long.

Romania is the EU’s second-least vaccinated state, with roughly 40 percent of the population inoculated amid distrust in state institutions and poor vaccine education. At the height of the fourth wave in late October, Romania topped global lists of new coronavirus deaths per million.

White House reaffirms Ukraine’s right to decide on NATO membership

Dozens of members of Congress advise nonprofit group with ties to CCP-linked think tank

Dozens of House Democrats and Republicans are listed as advisers to a New York-based nonprofit group that counts a Chinese Communist Party-affiliated think tank as its partner.

The Humpty Dumpty Institute has since 2017 touted its partnership with the Beijing-based Taihe Institute think tank, which employs over a dozen current and former members of the CCP and People's Liberation Army as senior fellows. The Taihe Institute was one of three Chinese think tanks behind an August report that deemed the United States a "failed country" for its pandemic response and claimed that COVID-19 leaked from a military base in Maryland.

HDI CEO Joseph Merante, a former career U.S. foreign service officer, spoke at the Taihe Institute's annual Beijing-based Taihe Civilization Forum every year between 2017 and 2020. During his talk at the 2017 Taihe Civilizations Forum, Merante urged China to improve its "cultural soft power" and worldwide influence by making better use of cultural and artistic exchanges. And in his 2018 talk, Merante highlighted the HDI's cooperation with Chinese businesses such as the video game developer Perfect World.

The HDI was christened with its intentionally "memorable" name in 1998 with the mission of "putting the pieces back together" of broken international relations and finding solutions to humanitarian problems. The group says it has hosted over 550 members of Congress and staffers for summits with senior United Nations officials, in addition to organizing Congressional delegations to more than 30 countries.

Members of the HDI Congressional Advisory Board, which as of late last week included seven Republicans and 26 Democrats, informally advise the nonprofit organization on its programming and are "active in HDI's domestic and international activities," the HDI said in November.

There is no evidence that HDI has ever sponsored congressional travel to China, and Republican members of the HDI Congressional Advisory Board told the Washington Examiner they weren't aware of the group's ties with the Taihe Institute, nor had they discussed any matters related to China with the group.

Maryland Republican Rep. Andy Harris said Tuesday he wasn't even aware he was a member of the HDI's Congressional Advisory Board and was looking to have his name removed from the board.

"It comes as a complete surprise to me that I am listed as a member. I was never notified by the Institute that I was named to the 'Advisory Board,' and I have had no interaction with the Institute at all since 2019, when I traveled on one sponsored trip to the Port of Antwerp as a member of the Ports Caucus," Harris told the Washington Examiner.

Another Republican member of the HDI Congressional Advisory Board, Rep. Gus Bilirakis of Florida, said he submitted his resignation from the group after learning of HDI's ties to China.

Plea deal reached for Shas chief to admit tax offenses, resign from Knesset

Ex-con MK Aryeh Deri to pay a fine of some NIS 180,000 and admit to two tax offense charges that won’t bar him from running for office in next election

Shas party leader Aryeh Deri has reportedly reached a plea deal with prosecutors that will see him admit to two tax offense charges in exchange for resigning from the Knesset and paying a fine of some NIS 180,000 (around $57,000).

Deri, who previously served time behind bars on a bribery conviction, will not be charged with a crime entailing moral turpitude, which would have left him ineligible to hold office in the future, several Hebrew media outlets reported Wednesday. As a result, he would be able to run in the next election.

According to reports earlier this week, Deri would continue to lead the Shas party even from outside the Knesset.

Deri served 22 months in prison from 2000 to 2002, after he was convicted of taking bribes as interior minister in the 1990s. He reclaimed the leadership of Shas shortly before the 2015 Knesset elections, ousting Eli Yishai, who had led the party in his absence.

Deri returned to his Interior Ministry post in 2016, after a court ruled that his prior conviction did not disqualify him from the position.

Corporate Donations Poured Into Manchin’s PAC Ahead of Final ‘No’

The same corporations that lobbied against the major social spending bill also donated into Manchin’s political action committee before he blocked its passage.

New federal disclosures reveal that major corporations poured donations into Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin’s political action committee in the weeks leading up to his pivotal announcement Sunday that he would oppose the Build Back Better Act, a stance that progressives argue is motivated by the senator’s deference to special interests.

CNBC reported late Tuesday that Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show that donors to Manchin’s Country Roads PAC raked in 17 contributions from corporations in October and 19 in November as he pared back and repeatedly threatened to tank the Democrats’ $1.75 trillion social spending and climate legislation.

Manchin donors during that period, according to CNBC, included corporate behemoths such as Goldman Sachs, American Express, UnitedHealth Group, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Lockheed Martin, many of which took part in the massive big business lobbying blitz against the bill, which included key child poverty-reducing benefits and significant investments in clean energy.

“Country Roads raised over $150,000 in October from corporate donors such as Verizon, Union Pacific, Wells Fargo, and PACs tied to the coal and mining industries,” CNBC noted.

As founder of the West Virginia-based coal company Enersystems, Manchin is well acquainted with the fossil fuel industry, which donated at least $400,000 to the West Virginia Democrat between July and October as he worked to gut the Build Back Better Act’s key climate provisions. The Washington Post reported last week that Manchin’s share in Enersystems—currently run by the senator’s son—is “worth between $1 million and $5 million.”

In a blog post earlier this week, former Labor Secretary Robert Reich noted that last year Manchin “made half a million dollars in Enersystems dividends (roughly three times the $174,000 salary he made last year as a senator).”

Reich cited such income—as well as the fact that Manchin “collects more campaign money from coal, oil, and gas companies than any other senator”—as possible explanations behind the West Virginia Democrat’s decision to block his party’s flagship legislation, which he announced in an appearance on the right-wing network Fox News.

Democratic leaders are still working to salvage the Build Back Better Act, but it’s unclear how much they would have to water down the already badly weakened legislation in order to win Manchin’s support, needed in a Senate that is split 50-50 between the two major parties. The death of the Build Back Better package would likely push millions of children back into poverty, potentially blow a $60 billion hole in the U.S. economy, and thwart what advocates see as a once-in-a-generation opportunity to pass meaningful climate legislation.

“This is the way things work when democracy has been weakened,” the Democracy Initiative—a coalition of dozens of civil rights, environmental, and labor groups—said Wednesday. “The powerful get special access to our government, while we’re told, ‘Sorry, we can’t help you.'”

CBP Officers Seize over $600K in Methamphetamine at Hidalgo International Bridge

HIDALGO, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Hidalgo International Bridge intercepted $627,700 in alleged methamphetamine.

“Drug trafficking organizations continue to work to get harmful narcotics on our streets, but CBP officers are always on the clock, working to thwart smuggling activities all while facilitating legitimate travelers during this holiday season,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry.

On, Dec. 20, 2021, CBP officers assigned to the Hidalgo International Bridge encountered a white Dodge Ram, driven by a male 49-year-old U.S. citizen arriving from Mexico. A CBP officer referred the conveyance for further inspection, which included utilizing non-intrusive imaging (NII) equipment and screening by a (canine team). After physically inspecting the conveyance, officers discovered eight packages of alleged methamphetamine weighing 44.84 pounds (20.34 kg) concealed within the vehicle.

CBP OFO arrested the individual, seized the narcotics and vehicle, and the case remains under investigation by agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI).
