Smoking fumigates the lungs, keeps mold and other nasties from taking hold.
Look at the common withdrawal symptoms from quitting smoking. It's the bugs/toxins taking over.
So what is needed is to get the pulsed xenon light into the lung. Maybe fiber optics.
They sell LED versions built into a bathroom light/fan fixture, but they don't work anywhere near as fast or as effectively as the xenon. Yet.
