What did Dr. Strange mean in Avengers: Infinity War when he said,"It's the only way"and gave the Time Stone to Thanos?

After Dr. Strange went through over 14 million outcomes and timestreams, it turns out there was only one outcome he foresaw, out of all of those, that gave them victory over Thanos. Dr. Strange had previously said that his keeping and protection of the Time Stone trumped anything, including Stark’s life, Parker’s life, anything.

You may also note that when Strange said “one” favorable outcome, he looked distressed. Clearly this one outcome involved things going exactly as they did, and ensuring that outcome’s success is why he gave up the Time Stone. “It’s the only way” means just that. It had to happen to make that outcome take place. Even with Thanos winning. By telling Stark “It’s the only way,” it at least plants a seed of hope.

Understand that Dr. Strange did not undertake that path lightly. He ceased to exist at the moment the “Snappening” occurred. But he is the only individual who knows how things turn out.

So, we’re at a cliffhanger.

To put it in perspective- remember, folks, back in the day, it took us THREE YEARS after “The Empire Strikes Back” to see if Han Solo would be rescued and if Luke would succeed in “Return of the Jedi.” At least we only have to wait a year for this one!

ABSTRACT

The compound 2-methoxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (MNQ) was previously shown to be cytotoxic against several cancer cell lines, but its mode of action is poorly understood. In this study, we aimed to explore the molecular mechanism of MNQ-induced cytotoxicity of A549 lung adenocarcinoma cells. The growth inhibition potential of MNQ was analyzed using sulforhodamine B assay, flow cytometry cell cycle analysis and Annexin V apoptosis assay. Oxidative stress was determined using 2',7'-dichlorofluorescein diacetate to measure intracellular reactive oxygen species level and comet assay to measure DNA damage. Western blotting was performed to study the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathways. MNQ induced apoptosis of A549 cells independent of cell cycle arrest, and is mediated by the JNK and p38 MAPK signaling pathways. Further analysis demonstrated that these signaling pathways were stimulated by oxidative DNA damage caused by increased ROS generation in MNQ-treated A549 cells. This study is the first to provide an insight into the molecular mechanism of MNQ-induced cytotoxicity of a lung cancer cell, which demonstrates the potential of MNQ as a potential chemotherapeutic drug for lung cancer treatment

They discussed the Eyrbggia saga in the epilogue. This saga mentions two possible Vikings who may have sailed to the Yucatan region of Mexico - Gudleif Gudlaugson (c.1025 AD) and Björn Breiðvíkingakappi (c.965).

Guðmundsdóttir and Thorsteinsson claim that the Eyrbyggja saga describes how Björn Breiðvíkingakappi (Björn the champion of the Broadwickers) sailed around Ireland and landed in Mexico.
