Kim Mi-soo, a Korean actor who had a supporting role in the recent series “Snowdrop,” has died. She was 29.

“Kim suddenly left us on Jan. 5,” her agency Landscape said in a statement on Wednesday. “The bereaved are deep in their sorrow at the sudden sadness. Please refrain from reporting false rumors or speculation so that the family can mourn in peace.” The agency statement was translated by Joongang Daily and gave no cause of death.

Craig Ruddy, Archibald prize-winning painter, dies at 53 from Covid complications

The Archibald prize-winning Australian artist Craig Ruddy has died aged 53 as a result of Covid complications.

Ruddy, who was based in the New South Wales northern rivers region, won Australia’s most celebrated portrait prize in 2004 for his painting of David Gulpilil, titled Two Worlds. He also won the Archibald people’s choice prize that year, and again in 2010, for his portrait of Warwick Thornton. He was an Archibald finalist in 2011 and 2020, for his portraits of Cathy Freeman and Bruce Pascoe, respectively.

Jay Weaver, member of Big Daddy Weave, dies after Covid-19 battle

Jay Weaver, a bassist and vocalist for the Christian band Big Daddy Weave, has died from complications due to Covid-19, his brother and fellow band member Mike Weaver announced on social media.

He was 42.

Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Ross Browner, a starter on the 1981 AFC Champions and one of the best pass rushers in franchise history, has died at the age of 67.

Oldest US World War II veteran dies at 112 in New Orleans

Lawrence Brooks, the United States’ oldest living World War II veteran, died Wednesday morning, according to his daughter and caregiver, Vanessa Brooks.

The supercentenarian’s health was winding down, Vanessa Brooks confirmed to Military Times, and he was in and out of the local veterans’ hospital several times in recent months but was still alert, enjoying the holidays and watching his beloved Saints play until the end.

Former Kentucky state lawmaker, civil rights leader Darryl Owens dies

Longtime state lawmaker and Louisville native Darryl Owens died Tuesday. He was 84.

Owens, a western Louisville attorney, served in the Kentucky House for more than a decade before retiring in 2018 and held various roles before that during his more than 40 years in public life.

A graduate of Central High, Owens was the first Black elected official to join the Jefferson County Fiscal Court in 1983 and also was Kentucky's first Black assistant attorney general.

It’s a sad day for Staten Island Hip-Hop and R&B, and the world. Jessie Lee Daniels of The Force MD’s has reportedly died at 57.

The singer’s management confirmed his passing on Facebook.

“Please put a heart up for him. He was loved!!!!!!!!!! TO the family, friends and fans today we lost a real talent. Our condolences goes out to his siblings, kids and the Force MDs,” reads the post as reported by The Mirror.

Hailing from Staten Island, the Force MD’s were originally known as the Force MC’s. However, at the height of their popularity they were an R&B vocal group with hits like the Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis-produced “Tender Love” and “Love is a House” that are certified classics.

Daniels, who was the uncle of members Stevie D., Antoine “T.C.D.” Lundy, and Rodney “Khalil” Lundy, is credited as a founder of the group.

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia – An influential Saudi cleric who once served for years as head of the kingdom's Shariah courts and whose ultraconservative views sparked outcry died on Wednesday, leaving behind a legacy that mirrored the kingdom's decades-long slide toward Wahhabism.

His family announced his death on Twitter, saying 90-year-ol Sheikh Saleh bin Mohammed al-Luhaidan died after battling an illness that was not disclosed. His funeral is taking place Wednesday in line with Islamic tradition of immediate burial.
