What is AGMATINE? It's a polyamine metabolite of the amino acid arginine. It's also looking like a neurotransmitter.

 

It also looks like agmatine is actually the target of the SSRI and SNRI as they raise agmatine levels. When this is blocked the antidepressant effect goes away.

 

It's not a drug. Your body makes it out of arginine, an amino acid. Or at least it's supposed to make a certain amount. Some is made by gut biome organisms and lower levels of either agmatine or the bugs that make it are predictive of depression, pain, anxiety, cognitive issues, etc… the list goes on.
