The Aristocrats is about/almost 100 years old. The first ones told were by jewish Vauldeville comedians. They probably weren't as vile as they are now but they were for the time. jews have always pushed the boundaries of civility in the USA.

Weren't jesters members of the royal courts? We tend to think of them as travelling commoners but they were usually from noble families, for example, third son of a third-son born to a monarch. I am pretty certain one of Henry VIII's cousins was a jester and may even have been the office holder of the stool or whatever. I forget the formal name but it was the guy that helped the monarch go to the bathroom (it was a way to get the king's ear).

Good rule of thumb is if you don't think you can convince someone of something you believe yourself, convince them at least to a "draw". Meaning convince them "something" is there.
