don't get me wrong. i loved my job (retired now), in spite of the times that it wore me down. i had a positive impact on more lives than i can remember now, even the ones that had no business wasting their money in college, and there is no more rewarding feeling. i still get emails and even old-fashioned cards by snail-mail from former students, thanking me. and that also includes some of the ones who learned the costly way that college was not their path (just heard from a former pre-med student who told me she just got into the IBEW).

actually i'm still a sponsored affiliate researcher. i sometimes contribute to the papers of other PIs, and still pop out one of my own occasionally.
i'm physically removed from the campus and no longer hold classes. i have done a couple temp visit profs to help out nearby schools in need.

would love to do that at a former employer. aggressive feminazi was hired for promotion i was in line to get. before she got tenure, she managed to declare herself dept chair, denied tenure to more senior male profs, made life hell for all the tenured male profs until they left on their own. but the icing on the cake was she defended another untenured female that was criminally negligent leading to a student almost dying in the lab, and then went to visit the poor girl in the ICU and blackmailed her into not suing the school by threatening to expel her and deny the transfer of her credits to another school. with help from HR, and a female safety officer, she managed to hush the entire thing up and sweep it under the rug (while she was privately lawyering up), and i was only made aware of it by the student herself when i already had my hat in hand and one foot out the door. went to county DA (also a feminazi) and was told i should keep my mouth shut if i didn't want to face slander and libel actions.

long ago i proposed a solution (that will NEVER be adopted). if a graduate is unable to find a job related to their diploma within five years (must show proof of good faith job search), then the school eats the outstanding student loans. at least we'd see the absurd promises of lucrative jobs disappear overnight.
