2022 is a year for crisis between Moscow and Washington, according to one of Russia’s most senior senators

Hopes that rock-bottom relations between Moscow and Washington can be turned around are unlikely at present, a top Russian politician has claimed, arguing that only when a new world order is established will there be less conflict between the two states.

Speaking as part of an interview with Ukraina.ru earlier this week, Aleksey Pushkov, a close ally of President Vladimir Putin, who previously served as chairman of the State Duma Foreign Affairs Committee, cast his view on the current power dynamic on the world stage.

“The US is a hegemon that is gradually losing its position in the world,” he claimed. “They suffered a very serious defeat in the Middle East, they lost Syria, they lost the battle for Afghanistan, they were forced to withdraw almost all of their troops from Iraq at the end of 2021.”

According to the Russian senator, US officials “are trying to maintain their dominant influence by having conflicts simultaneously with Russia and China, although with different degrees of intensity.” Pushkov noted that this creates a nervous environment both in America and the rest of the world.

“The US no longer treats us as a secondary power,” he explained. “They treat us as a paramount power, which is why they cite Russia, not China, as one of the main problems facing the Biden administration in 2022.” Pushkov warned that it will be “a year of crisis between Washington and Moscow.”

“As I understand it, they now want to solve the ‘Russian problem,’ that is, to subjugate practically all of Europe, pushing Russia to its very outskirts,” he said. “This is exactly what they need Ukraine for. The next phase will be a political or even military confrontation with China.”

Pushkov added that America’s political and financial elite “believe that they are the only ones who can run the world,” and do not intend to let anyone else take the helms. “So, until a new world order is established in which the US is weaker and its role is diminished, we will be in more or less acute political conflict with them.”

His remarks come amid an increasingly tense stand-off between East and West, with senior American officials accusing Moscow of amassing troops and hardware near the Ukrainian border ahead of an invasion. Last week, Biden threatened to hit Russian President Vladimir Putin with sanctions like “he’s never seen” before in the event of an incursion, which the Kremlin has repeatedly denied having any plans of staging.

Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, warned against a move such as this earlier this month, stating that “the imposition of sanctions against the head of state and against the leader of Russia … is a measure that is comparable to severing relations.”

“Patrisse Khan-Cullors, 37, also eyed property in the Bahamas at an ultra-exclusive resort where Justin Timberlake and Tiger Woods both have homes, The Post has learned. Luxury apartments and townhouses at the beachfront Albany resort outside Nassau are priced between $5 million and $20 million, according to a local agent,” the report states.

The Post also reported that “last year, Khan-Cullors and spouse Janaya Khan ventured to Georgia to acquire a fourth home — a ‘custom ranch’ on 3.2 rural acres in Conyers featuring a private airplane hangar with a studio apartment above it, and the use of a 2,500-foot ‘paved/grass’ community runway that can accommodate small airplanes.”

While the mainstream media mostly ignored the event for fear of being accused of racism for simply having the temerity to cover it, crowds of President Trump's loyal supporters gathered Saturday night in Conroe, Texas for the first Trump rally of the 2022 mid-term election cycle. Because even if he isn't on the ballot, Trump is still indisputably the most important figure in Republican politics - even if Democratic prosectors are trying to "put me in jail", as he (correctly) proclaimed at one point during the event, much to the astonishment of the Twitterati.

The "Save America" rally was the first Trump rally in Texas since he lost the White House, and will be followed by other stops across the South and Midwest.

With every GOP politician in the country eager to seek his endorsement, Trump took the stage late Saturday night and shared some thoughts about his priorities for when he "runs and wins" in 2024.

At one point, Trump said that if he is elected to be America's 47th president in November 2024, he would strongly consider pardons for the roughly 700 people who have been charged criminally over their role in J6.

"If I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6th fairly," Trump said Saturday night. "And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons because they are being treated so unfairly."

Trump also strongly criticized Democratic lawmakers and prosecutors for their response to the riot, and also for the numerous investigations into him which, as the AP reported in roundup of the various probes, have taken on a criminal overtone in recent months.

The probes, which are unfolding in multiple jurisdictions and consider everything from potential fraud and election interference to the role he played in the Jan. 6 insurrection, represent the most serious legal threat Trump has faced in decades of an often litigious public life. They're intensifying as a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found Trump's iron grip on the GOP may be starting to loosen.

The former president alluded to the multiple investigations Saturday night, claiming "they want to put me in jail" before calling on supporters to create "the biggest protests we've ever had" in Washington DC and other cities if the prosecutors investigating him do "anything illegal".

"If these radical, vicious, racist prosecutors do anything wrong or illegal, I hope we are going to have in this country the biggest protest we have ever had in Washington DC, in New York, in Atlanta and elsewhere because our country and our elections are corrupt,"

Trump continued, saying that "in reality, they're not after me, they're after you. And I just happen to be the person in the way," he said.

The corporate media in Canada is largely homogenous, liberal and unabashedly globalist. To them, anything outside of Toronto or Ottawa is “flyover country”. Anything that happens there doesn’t matter unless it’s some issue that can wrapped within a narrative of victimhood to shame the populace into believing their country is a structurally racist, carbon spewing abomination.

In Canada, a pitched ideological battle between the Liberals and Conservatives would be whether the top marginal tax rate should be 53% (where it is now) or 45%. If things got really wild and bare knuckled, maybe Trudeau would come out with a “double-mask” mandate and Erin O’Toole, a third-rate non-entity who has lost two fat-pitch elections, would say “1.5 masks!” Even then he would waffle as soon as some polling data came out.

That’s the political spectrum in Canada, unless you count the NDPs who are even further left than the Liberals. Federally, the NDPs are led by a millionaire socialist.

The Libertarians here are a joke (sorry, but it’s true. I ran for the Libertarian Party federally in 2015 so I get to say that).

Political leaders actually standing up for the civil rights of all Canadians are few and far between: Maxime Bernier federally, running the PPC, and here in Ontario the likes of Randy Hillier and Roman Baber – a couple of MPPs who were jettisoned from #FordNation for resisting the lockdowns and mandates.

When it comes to these rare political voices, and despite rising popular support for them, the corporate media circles the wagons and demonizes them as (what else?) racists, far-right, etc.

Turkey's secular state establishment was shocked when a young militant Islamist won the mayoral elections in Turkey's biggest city, Istanbul, in 1994. "Who wins Istanbul wins Turkey," Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at that time Istanbul's mayor, would often say. History would prove him right.

Erdoğan's tenure as Istanbul's mayor ended when in 1997 when he recited a pro-Islamist poem. "The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets, and the faithful our soldiers" earned him a 10-month prison term for "inciting religious hatred," four of which he served. In 2002, Erdoğan's Justice and Development Party (AKP) swept to victory in national elections.

Erdoğan has since remained unchallenged, first as Turkey's prime minister and, since 2014, as president. Observers agree that Erdoğan's skilfully-crafted image-making as the "victim of an authoritarian, secular regime" helped him to win one election after another. "People saw him as the guy from the other side of the tracks who the system had unjustly punished," Soner Çağaptay, author of Erdoğan's Empire, wrote.

Ironically, the man who has become Erdoğan's worst nightmare is following a similar path. In March 2019, as the race for municipal elections was barrelling ahead, Islamist parties had controlled Istanbul along with Turkey's capital, Ankara since 1994. Erdoğan's candidate for Istanbul was a big shot: former Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım. The opposition, however including social democrats, liberals, some nationalists and Kurds united behind Ekrem İmamoğlu, then a little-known district mayor in Istanbul.

A War Only America & Britain Seem to Want

Disagreement between the U.S. and Ukrainian presidents and cautiousness by Germany and France, seems to indicate only the U.S. and U.K. are keen for war with Russia, reports Joe Lauria.

The telephone call between U.S. President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday was said to have not “gone well,” according to a senior Ukrainian official.

The official said Zelensky urged Biden to “calm down the messaging” on the situation in Ukraine and that Ukrainian intelligence did not see a Russian threat the same way the U.S. did, according to a report on CNN. It is “dangerous but ambiguous,” the official quoted Zelensky as telling Biden, and that “it is not certain that an attack will take place.”

At a news conference on Friday, Zelensky said: “They keep supporting this theme, this topic.And they make it as acute and burning as possible. In my opinion, this is a mistake.” He added: “If you look only at the satellites you will see the increase in troops and you can’t assess whether this is just a threat of attack or just a simple rotation.”

Zelensky also spoke about the resumption of diplomatic talks in Paris in the Normandy Format with Germany and France in which the Minsk Accords are to be implemented. The 2015 accords would end the war between Kiev and two breakaway eastern provinces that opposed the 2014 U.S. backed coup that overthrew a democratically elected president that leaned towards Moscow. The provinces would be given autonomy from Kiev. Zelensky said he hoped that the ceasefire in the east would hold.

This is almost the exact opposite of what the U.S. and its loyal media are blaring everyday. In the call, Biden raised the temperature, decisively saying that a Russian invasion of Ukraine was coming. “Biden warned his Ukrainian counterpart that a Russian attack may be imminent, saying that an invasion was now virtually certain, once the ground had frozen later in February, according to the official,” the CNN report said.

Taiwan Vice President Wraps Up Overseas Trip With US House Speaker Meeting

TAIPEI—Taiwan Vice President William Lai wrapped up his visit to the United States and Honduras with a virtual meeting with U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in a further show of support from Washington for the self-ruled island.

Lai went to Honduras this week for the inauguration of its new president, seeking to shore up ties with one of Taiwan’s last remaining diplomatic allies.

Only 14 countries now maintain official ties with Taiwan, viewed by Beijing as Chinese territory with no right to the trappings of a state. The Chinese regime claims the island as its own, despite the fact that Taiwan is a de facto independent country, with its own military, democratically-elected government, and constitution.

Stopping off in San Francisco on Friday on his way back to Taiwan, Lai said he had spoken virtually with Pelosi, one of the Democratic Party’s most high-profile politicians.

“I was pleased to meet with @SpeakerPelosi, a champion of human rights and true friend to Taiwan. We are committed to working together to strengthen the U.S.-Taiwan partnership,” Lai wrote on Twitter, sharing a picture of the video call, also attended by the de facto Taiwanese ambassador in Washington, Hsiao Bi-khim.

Lai briefly talked with U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in Honduras on Thursday, a rare encounter that was highly symbolic and provoked anger in Beijing at a time of simmering tension with Washington.

The statement from the wayward royals comes shortly after a number of artists abandoned the platform over its refusal to blacklist podcaster Joe Rogan.

According to a post by journalist Omid Scobie, a spokesman for Archewell has aired concerns the pair have regarding the debacle.

“Since the inception of Archewell, we have worked to address the real-time global misinformation crisis,” the statement read. “Hundreds of millions of people are affected by the serious harms of rampant mis- and disinformation every day.”

“Last April, our co-founders [Meghan and Harry] began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform,” the statement continued. “We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis.”

The organisation’s criticisms come despite Meghan and Harry having a lucrative deal with Spotify reportedly worth $25m, with the royal duo being recruited into hosting and producing podcasts.

However, despite the deal, as of this reporting, only one podcast — a holiday special uploaded in 2020 — has been posted by the pair on Spotify under their Archewell Audio brand, with no additional content being published in 2021.

‘Freedom!’ Dutch Truckers Join Canadians in Convoying Against Lockdown Measures

Truckers in the Netherlands formed a convoy on Sunday to protest their nation’s lockdown measures, following the lead of their fellow road hauliers in Canada.

The Dutch convoy mimicks a major lockdown protest being held in Canada, where thousands have poured into the nation’s capital of Ottowa to rally against vaccine mandates.

According to a report by Hart von Nederland, dozens of vehicles joined a convoy on Sunday morning in a way reminiscent of proceedings on the other side of the Atlantic, with those taking part demanding an end to lockdown restrictions supposedly aimed at curbing the Chinese Coronavirus.

“I’m going to ride as long as I can, because I’m tired of all the measures,” the publication reports one protester as saying. “Freedom, that’s what it’s all about, freedom!”

“We are against the corona measures of the current cabinet and that is why we will soon go on a parade through Friesland,” said another woman who planned on taking part in the convoy. “Sitting at home on the couch makes no sense and that is why it is good that we now let’s all know for once; enough is enough.”

The Dutch protest, according to De Telegraaf, was inspired by events in Canada, where thousands of truckers have joined a “Freedom Convoy” demanding an end to vaccine mandates in the country.

It is expected that over 10,000 protesters will attend the weekend-long rally against the measures in the Canadian capital of Ottowa.

Meanwhile, the nation’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has come under fire for reportedly fleeing his home in the run-up to the protest, with “security concerns” being cited as the reason for the move.

The Liberal Party PM had previously denounced the truckers as a “small fringe minority” who held “unacceptable views”.

Former US President Donald Trump however has praised the truckers, saying that they were doing more to defend “American freedom” than the leaders of the United States.

“The Canadian truckers — you’ve been reading about it — who are resisting bravely these lawless mandates are doing more to defend American freedom than our own leaders by far and we want those great Canadian truckers to know that we are with them all the way,” the 45th President of the United States said during a rally on Saturday.

Emails leaked from Hunter Biden's computer revealed that his personal assistant/secretary just happened to be a Chinese government employee, JiaQi Bao, according to Peter Schweizer's much-anticipated book released last week entitled "Red Handed".

Bao, who obtained her degree from China's Tsinghua University after being granted a government scholarship, worked at the Chinese government's National Development and Reform Commission as a 'research assistant' before being shipped off to work for an investment firm where she met President Joe's son.

While working for the Shanghai-based (and a suspected Chinese Communist Government's financial front), OneGate Capital, which as just stated has solid links to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), reported Schweizer.

Bao was 'assigned' to Hunter Biden in 2017 after he went into business with the secretary-general of Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC, Patrick Ho. Why he needed a personal secretary from a Chinese firm is befuddling - why he would accept it is criminal given who he is, and what dangers existed from letting a CCP employee into his inner circle.

Ho, who was later portrayed by Biden as the "spy chief of China" and a former home affairs secretary in Hong Kong, was arrested by the FBI in November 2017 on bribery charges.

According to Schweizer's book, Ho was caught after trying to offer funds to "African officials as part of a 'bold operation' involving 'channeling illicit payments to UN diplomats—via a network of middlemen, millionaires and suspected spies'."

Ho was condemned to three years in prison in 2019, but Bao continued to work for Biden after his 2017 arrest.

The secretary reportedly developed a close relationship with Biden and provided advice on everything from "energy deals to his father's presidential campaign," noted the author.

Major French Study Finds Over 99% Glyphosate Contamination in General Population

Abstract

France is the first pesticide-consuming country in Europe. Glyphosate is the most used pesticide worldwide and glyphosate is detected in the general population of industrialized countries, with higher levels found in farmers and children. Little data was available concerning exposure in France. Our objective was to determine glyphosate levels in the French general population and to search for an association with seasons, biological features, lifestyle status, dietary habits, and occupational exposure. This study includes 6848 participants recruited between 2018 and 2020. Associated data include age, gender, location, employment status, and dietary information. Glyphosate was quantified by a single laboratory in first-void urine samples using ELISA. Our results support a general contamination of the French population, with glyphosate quantifiable in 99.8% of urine samples with a mean of 1.19 ng/ml + / − 0.84 after adjustment to body mass index (BMI). We confirm higher glyphosate levels in men and children. Our results support glyphosate contamination through food and water intake, as lower glyphosate levels are associated with dominant organic food intake and filtered water. Higher occupational exposure is confirmed in farmers and farmers working in wine-growing environment. Thus, our present results show a general contamination of the French population with glyphosate, and further contribute to the description of a widespread contamination in industrialized countries.

Nova Scotia gov’t bans citizens from gathering to support Freedom Convoy truckers headed to Ottawa

On Friday, the provincial government of Nova Scotia issued a 'Highway Blockacde Ban' warning citizens that they are not to gather in support of the convoy of trucks headed to the nation’s capital.

The province of Nova Scotia has issued an edict making it illegal for citizens to gather along the highway and cheer on the truckers driving to Ottawa to protest vaccine mandates.

On Friday, the provincial government of Nova Scotia issued a “Highway Blockade Ban” warning citizens that they are not to gather in support of the convoy of trucks headed to the nation’s capital. While the directive states that the purpose of the ban is because gathering in “those areas would put themselves and others at risk,” the convoys have made it across the entire nation with similar gatherings, without a report of a single incident.

Effective immediately, “all persons are prohibited from stopping parking or operating a vehicle or putting any item in such a manner as to create or contribute to a partial or complete blockade of the normal flow of vehicle traffic on a road, street or highway in the province,” reads the directive.

In addition to the broad rules, the edict names the “2022 Freedom Convoy” specifically, making it a crime punishable by up to 100,000 dollars to participate in, finance, aid, encourage, or support “an interruption of the normal flow of vehicle traffic” in relation to the convoy.

Famed Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan B. Peterson took to Twitter to denounce the unconstitutional measures against the right of Canadians to peacefully assemble.

Former sailor admits to sexually assaulting 12-year-old at Kittery naval base in 2009

A Michigan man admitted Tuesday to sexually assaulting a then-12 year-old girl in 2009 when he was a sailor stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery.

Matthew Boyd, 33, of Warren, a Detroit suburb, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

The case is in federal court, in U.S. District Court in Portland, because the abuse took place on federal property.

Boyd was 20 and on active duty in the U.S. Navy when he began communicating with the victim, who lived in Texas, over the social networking site Myspace.com, according to court documents. In August 2009, the girl’s mother gave her permission to visit Boyd in Maine.

He picked the victim up at Logan International Airport in Boston and took her to the base hotel, where she stayed for a week, court documents said. During that time Boyd sexually abused the girl. At one point during the visit, he gave her a Plan B or “morning after” pill to ensure she had not become pregnant.

The sexual abuse came to light in 2020 after the victim reported it. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service taped a phone call the victim made to Boyd, now married with a daughter, in which he told the victim that his behavior was “inappropriate.”

“But I had sex with you,” he said, according to a portion of a transcript of the call included in a court document. “You were 12 and I was 20. And I shouldn’t have done that. I should’ve known better, but I didn’t. I didn’t appropriate the judgment that I should’ve, and it’s cost you, apparently, quite a lot over the years.”

Boyd remains free on bail.

He faces up to 15 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000. Boyd also could be ordered to pay restitution to the victim for counseling services.

GOP critics sometimes own stock in the Big Tech they're slamming

A number of Republican Senate candidates running on anti-Big Tech platforms have stock holdings in the same companies they are vowing to hold accountable if elected to Congress.

That’s drawn accusations, from Democrats and some fellow Republicans, of hypocrisy.

Others say arguing that someone won’t hold Facebook or Google accountable because they have stock in the company is a weak attack, and that the conflict-of-interest accusations don’t hold water.

In Ohio, former state GOP Chair Jane Timken has called Big Tech “an arm of the Democrat party” and said “their immunity privileges must be stripped.” In May, after Facebook said it would keep former President Trump’s account suspended until at least 2023, she said the “censorship of conservatives must end.”

Timken, who is running in a GOP primary to succeed retiring Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio), holds stock valued at between $800,000 and $1.6 million in Google, Facebook and Apple through herself and her family, according to her financial disclosure reports. A spokesperson for the Timken campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

In Pennsylvania, Republicans running to fill retiring Sen. Pat Toomey’s (R) seat are also campaigning on anti-Big Tech platforms.

Businessman Jeff Bartos has tweeted about the need to “fight back against Big Tech’s aggressive silencing of conservatives” and that “Big Tech must be reined in.”

His financial disclosure report shows that Bartos, through his spouse, holds stock valued at between $200,000 and $500,000 in Google. He holds stock in Apple valued between $300,000 and $600,000, through a spouse and in a joint account.

A spokesperson for Bartos did not respond to a request for comment.

The tech stocks could end up becoming a campaign issue.

Former Ohio state Treasurer Josh Mandel, who is also running for Portman’s seat, slammed Republicans for holding stock in companies they’re vowing to regulate.

U.S. Embassy in Islamabad to award $1.3M to raise consciousness for climate change in Pakistan

Embassy public affairs section cites multilateral development bank study predicting warming "significantly above the global average" in the nation, with disproportionate risk for the "vulnerable, poor and minority groups."

This week's Golden Horseshoe goes to the State Department and the U.S. Embassy Islamabad for a $1.3 million grant for consciousness-raising about the dangers of climate change in Pakistan.

"Climate change is one of the most significant challenges of this century," warns the grant notice. "As a result of human activities, we are witnessing warming of the atmosphere, melting sea ice and glaciers, rising sea levels, and changes in the frequency and intensity of weather patterns, among other phenomena."

The grant opportunity, posted by the public affairs section of the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan on Grants.gov, postulates that climate change is having a "profound effect" globally and could potentially "cause irreversible alterations to the earth's habitat, biodiversity and ecosystems."

Based on funding availability, the grant is expected to help Pakistan in its fight to ward off the potential ravages of climate change.

Even though Pakistan emits less than 1% of global greenhouse gasses, it is among the world's "most vulnerable victims" of climate change, the embassy public affairs specialists assert, citing a study by the World Bank Group and Asian Development Bank that predicts a rate of warming "significantly above the global average" in the nation, with disproportionate risk for the "vulnerable, poor and minority groups,"

The grant is to fund three projects — Urban Planning for a Green Future, Developing the Next Generation of Female Environmentalists, and Advancing Glaciology Research — each of which "should raise awareness of the climate crisis among broad audiences and civil society stakeholders, promote greening and sustainability practices in diverse areas of Pakistan, and design and promote environmental education."

Hamas commander accused of spying for Israel escapes from Gaza prison

A former Hamas military commander who was accused of spying for Israel has escaped from a maximum-security prison in the Gaza Strip.

The fugitive, Abed al-Karim Abu Odeh, 35, was arrested by Hamas in 2019 on suspicion of mapping underground tunnels with a tracking device he allegedly received from his Israeli handlers.

It was not clear how Abu Odeh, who was being held in the Ansar Prison in the Gaza Strip, managed to escape.

The rare escape is seen by many Palestinians as a severe embarrassment for Hamas.

Hamas has arrested a number of suspects on suspicion of helping Abu Odeh, according to a Palestinian journalist in the Gaza Strip.

Hamas officials described Abu Odeh as an “extremely dangerous security prisoner” and offered a reward for information leading to his capture.

The officials said they did not rule out the possibility that Abu Odeh, who was a top commander of the Izzadin al-Qassam Brigades, the “military” wing of Hamas, would try to cross the border into Israel.

Hamas set up checkpoints and deployed dozens of security officers in several parts of the Gaza Strip, especially near the border with Israel, in an attempt to prevent Abu Odeh from leaving the coastal enclave.
