Moreover, such illustrations symbolize idolatry and sacrifice to false gods.
The very reason early theologians, regardless of their religious beliefs (eg Christianity, even some Pagans, Judaism, etc.), all rejected idolatry, was because they believed God transcended objective reality and even creation itself. Therefore, any attempt by man to “object”ify what God was, ultimately placed restrictions on how God was to be perceived, which defeats the whole meaning of transcendence. This is why the 1st of the 10 commandments prohibited the making of “graven images of God”. This is also the same metaphysical reason scientists today should never mistake their theories (“theater of the mind”) of objective reality, as reality itself. In other words, when mere theories become fixed and immutable “dogma.”
