This is the hardest pill for most to swallow. People lose their shit when challenged on the "why" for the need for a blood sacrifice (his first and only born son, btw; big clue, there). Who's demanding that sacrifice be done? God? Why does God need a blood sacrifice? Remission of sins? Wait, so, an innocent (according to the story) and perfectly godly person that was the embodiment of all that is good about the nature of humanity has to be sacrificed… to God… so that the rest of us can be forgiven for being fuck ups since we had no control over when we were born into a world that was fucked up before we even got here?
