“We Failed” – Danish Newspaper Admits Failure and Apologizes for Not Questioning the Government’s COVID-19 Narrative

One of the leading newspapers in Denmark issued a public apology for spreading the government’s lies about COVID-19 and narratives without sufficient skepticism throughout the pandemic.

Ekstra Bladet published an article last month with the title “Vi fejlede,” which means “We failed.”

Ekstra Bladet is a Danish tabloid newspaper, published by JP/Politikens Hus in Copenhagen and was founded in 1904.

“THE CONSTANT mental alertness has worn out tremendously on all of us. That is why we – the press – must also take stock of our own efforts. And we have failed,” Ekstra Bladet journalist Brian Weichardt wrote.

Ekstra Bladet wrote [translated]:

For ALMOST two years, we – the press and the population – have been almost hypnotically preoccupied with the authorities’ daily coronatal.

WE HAVE STARED at the oscillations of the number pendulum when it came to infected, hospitalized and died with corona. And we have been given the significance of the pendulum’s smallest movements laid out by experts, politicians and authorities, who have constantly warned us about the dormant corona monster under our beds. A monster just waiting for us to fall asleep so it can strike in the gloom and darkness of the night.

THE CONSTANT mental alertness has worn out tremendously on all of us. That is why we – the press – must also take stock of our own efforts. And we have failed.

WE HAVE NOT been vigilant enough at the garden gate when the authorities were required to answer what it actually meant that people are hospitalized with corona and not because of corona. Because it makes a difference. A big difference. Exactly, the official hospitalization numbers have been shown to be 27 percent higher than the actual figure for how many there are in the hospital, simply because they have corona. We only know that now.

OF COURSE , it is first and foremost the authorities who are responsible for informing the population correctly, accurately and honestly. The numbers for how many are sick and died of corona should, for obvious reasons, have been published long ago, so we got the clearest picture of the monster under the bed.

IN ALL , the messages of the authorities and politicians to the people in this historic crisis leave much to be desired. And therefore they lie as they have ridden when parts of the population lose confidence in them.

ANOTHER example: The vaccines are consistently referred to as our ‘superweapon’. And our hospitals are called ‘superhospitals’. Nevertheless, these super-hospitals are apparently maximally pressured, even though almost the entire population is armed with a super-weapon. Even children have been vaccinated on a huge scale, which has not been done in our neighboring countries.

IN OTHER WORDS, there is something here that does not deserve the term ‘super’. Whether it’s the vaccines, the hospitals, or a mixture of it all, is every man’s bid. But at least the authorities’ communication to the population in no way deserves the term ‘super’. On the contrary.

FOX News Host Compares Tactics of Tech Giants Like GoFundMe and Facebook to Communist Chinese after Fascist Facebook Blocks Trucker Convoy Pages

FOX and Friends Weekend host Rachel Campos-Duffy rebuked the fascists at Facebook, Twitter, GoFundMe, etc. on Sunday comparing them to the Communist Chinese.

This comes after GoFundMe announced on Friday they would steal donations for the Canadian Freedom Convoy 2022 and donate it to charities of their choice. On Saturday morning the officials at GoFundMe backtracked and decided to return the millions in donations after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced they would investigate the fundraising platform for theft and deceptive marketing practices.

Pete Hegseth reported that Facebook and others are already shutting down the group sites and pages in support of American Trucker Convoys. Campos-Duffy compared these platforms to the Chinese Communists who pushed the Dutch reporter off the screen during a live presentation this week.

Canadian Government Proudly Admits to Requesting GoFundMe to Withhold Trucker Convoy Donations – Begs Other Crowdfunding Sites to Follow Suit

On Friday, GoFundMe removed the $10 million Canadian Trucker Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser.

Hours after the digital highway robbery, the Ottawa Police Department (OPD) tweeted out a statement that thanked the crowdfunding platform for caving to the city’s demands to withhold funding from the protesters.

The OPD statement also called on other platforms to follow suit, while labeling the grassroots movement against Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s authoritarianism an “unlawful demonstration.”

“We want to thank GoFundMe for listening to our concerns as a City and a police service. The decision to withhold funding for these unlawful demonstrations is an important step and we call on all crowdfunding sites to follow.”

Like a true fascist, Ottawa’s Mayor Jim Watson also praised GoFundMe for their decision to defraud donors and steal the money away from the truckers.

Just like the OPD, Watson also called the demonstrators “unlawful” and asked all other crowdfunding platforms to choke off funding to the protest, because, he “hopes,” they will not be able to stay in the city without outside “funding and resources.”

“I want to sincerely thank the team at GoFundMe for listening to the plea made by the City and the Ottawa Police to no longer provide funds to the convoy organizers”

“In light of the unlawful behaviour that has transpired in the last few days, they have come to the right decision in support of our city and our residents.

These protesters have been holding our city hostage for a week now, and i’m hopeful that limiting their access to funding and resources will restrict their ability to remain in Ottawa.

I am imploring similar crowdfunding platforms to take the same position and not enable the group in it’s fundraising efforts, which would deal a blow to our efforts to put an end to this occupation.”

Russia issues ‘metaverse’ warning

Authorities expressed concern about drug dealing and VR’s influence on the physical world

Regulators in Russia are looking into the possibility of new restrictions on virtual reality (VR), saying they are worried that it could enable illegal activity, while acknowledging that the “metaverse” also offers new possibilities for human interaction.

The Scientific Technical Center of Roskomnadzor, the federal agency responsible for monitoring mass media, released a report on Wednesday, assessing what it sees as the potential risks and possibilities of VR spaces where people are able to interact across national borders.

The term “metaverse,” which comes out of science fiction, refers to 3D virtual worlds focused on human social connection, and it has increasingly been the focus of tech companies, including the US company Facebook, which recently rebranded as Meta.

According to the report, the metaverse could lend itself to illegal transactions conducted in cryptocurrency, including trade between people of different nationalities that could violate border regulations. The authors claim that virtual spaces would be ripe for drug dealing or trafficking of other banned substances.

The report also cites concerns about the consequences that virtual interaction has for human behavior. The authors write, “The transformation of perception on account of being located in the metaverse will have a meaningful cultural effect on society and will change social behavior, including reducing the importance of moral and ethical norms due to the use of a virtual avatar.” They warn that this could particularly affect children, “the most vulnerable group in the new metaverse.”

In addition to assessing the potential risks of virtual reality, the report also provides an overview of its possibilities, including the growth of new marketplaces, such as an increased demand for video games and online forms of entertainment. The authors also claim that increased online life has made new forms of political activity possible, and they refer to Greta Thunberg, the activist who raised awareness for the dangers of climate change using her online profile.

Lukashenko Vows Belarus Will Fight By Russia's Side If Ukraine War Starts

On Saturday Russia sent a pair of long range nuclear-capable bombers over Belarus in a message to Ukraine and NATO. The Associated Press detailed of the patrol, "The Russian Defense Ministry said the two Tu-22M3 bombers practiced interacting with the Belarusian air force and air defense during a four-hour mission."

Simultaneously, some regional governments in Ukraine are reportedly holding 'civil defense' drills for residents, which has included regular citizens arming themselves, fearing the widely circulating reports of a "Russian invasion" coming.

Over the weekend Belarus' longtime leader and close Putin ally, President Alexander Lukashenko, vowed military support for any Russian military mission that would be in response to a Ukrainian attack in Donbass. While downplaying the likelihood of a major war, Lukashenko predicted that if it happened, "it will last for three or four days at most." Dismissing Ukrainian forces' capabilities, he said, "There is no one there to fight us."

He described that Belarus, like Russia, also has "red lines" in place and that the first step would be cutting off energy, fuel, and industrial supplies to its neighbor to the south: "We will not supply it if they start a war against us or Russia," the Belarusian leader said, according to a translation in Russian media.

Lukashenko echoed Kremlin accusations of Washington ultimately stoking tensions in order to draw Russian into a conflict, so that Moscow and its allies would be severely isolated and sanctioned:

"This is just the essence of the war, about which you and we are having debates now: 'Ukraine will fight'. Well, it is not Ukraine, it is Americans who are pushing it [Ukraine] to war", Lukashenko told the Russian YouTube show "Soloviev Live".

"Do they not see it? Therefore, they understand that it is futile to fight with us, especially with Russia. We are not talking about some kind of nuclear and other weapons. But it is better not to touch us", Lukashenko said.

Already, Russia has deployed advanced missile defense systems to Belarus, along with jets, bombers, and other major military assets - largely in preparation for joint military drills.

The so-called 'union agreement' between Russia and Belarus goes back to the 1990's, and amid the recent standoff with NATO, the two countries have only deepened their military cooperation, with the Kremlin recently installing early warning radar systems and naval command centers there. Lately, the Biden administration has warned Russia against sending more troops to Belarus, which the US says could number up to 30,000 deployed there.

Mark Zuckerberg could face jail time under new law, minister warns

UK Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries said Big Tech bosses could ‘absolutely’ be held responsible for failing to remove harmful online content

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other Big Tech executives risk ending up in jail if their social media platforms do not block content deemed harmful under upcoming online safety laws, UK Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries has warned.

Speaking to Times Radio on Saturday, Dorries said Zuckerberg, who heads Meta, Facebook’s parent company, and other tech bosses could “absolutely” be put behind bars if they did not comply with the government’s draft Online Safety Bill. She expressed hope that the legislation would be a “notice to the online platforms to say here it is, we’re letting you know what it is now, so start doing what you need to do.”

Under the bill’s proposed ‘duty of care’ regime, communications regulator Ofcom’s powers could jail tech executives for up to two years for failing to remove illegal content, The Telegraph reported. The government had announced on Friday that several new criminal offenses had been added to the bill, including revenge porn, hate crime, fraud, the sale of illegal drugs or weapons, the promotion or facilitation of suicide, people-smuggling, and sexual exploitation.

The government claimed that naming these offenses would enable Ofcom to take enforcement action against non-compliant firms more quickly. But Dorries said these platforms “don’t need to wait for the bill” since they “have the powers to [take action] now.”

What [tech firms] need to do now is to remove those harmful algorithms on [their] platforms. Stop directing people to suicide chat rooms, stop allowing [pile-on] hate, stop allowing people-trafficking, stop allowing threats of hate, violence and rape, and remove it all now.

However, critics like the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) have dismissed her claims as “rhetoric.”

Andy Burrows, NSPCC head of child safety online policy, told The Independent that “tech bosses wouldn’t be personally liable for the harmful effects of their algorithms or failing to prevent grooming, and could only be prosecuted for failing to supply information to the regulator.”

Meanwhile, the Labour Party called for tougher sanctions against senior tech executives, with shadow culture secretary Lucy Powell stating that Ofcom would face a “David and Goliath situation” when “taking on some of the biggest tech firms in the world” and needed “access to the full range of tools in its belt, including making top bosses criminally liable for persistently failing to tackle online harms.”

Meta or other tech giants have not commented on Dorries’ claims as yet.

Memphis BLM founder Pamela Moses sentenced to 6 years for illegally voting

The founder of the Black Lives Matter chapter in Memphis has been sentenced to prison for six years for illegally registering to vote in Tennessee, prosecutors said.

Pamela Moses, the 44-year-old activist, was ordered to spend six years and one day behind bars Monday for registering to vote despite felony convictions in 2015 that made her ineligible to do so, Shelby County District Attorney General. Amy Weirich said.

In handing down the sentence, Judge Michael Ward accused her of deceiving the probation department to obtain the right to vote,

“You tricked the probation department into giving you documents saying you were off probation,” Ward said in court, the Washington Post reported.

In 2015, Moses pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and forgery, both felonies, and to misdemeanor charges of perjury, stalking, theft under $500, and escape.

She was placed on probation for seven years and deemed ineligible to vote in Tennessee because of the tampering with evidence charge.

Moses has maintained that she was under the impression that her voting rights had been restored when she went to vote in 2019.

“I did not falsify anything. All I did was try to get my rights to vote back the way the people at the election commission told me and the way the clerk did,” she said at the hearing.

Her attorney, Bede Anyanwu, said that his client plans to appeal the sentencing.

“She believes the sentencing was beyond the evidence that was presented,” he told the Washington Post.

University That Funds Biden's Think Tank And Hosts FactCheck.Org Has Contract With BioNTech, Gets Paid For Vaccine Sales And FDA Approvals

Documents obtained by NATIONAL FILE show that the University of Pennsylvania, which hosts and funds Joe Biden’s think tank called the Penn Biden Center, directly profits from the sale of Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna Coronavirus vaccines. The University gets more money if more vaccines are sold. The University of Pennsylvania also gets “milestone payments” when the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approves a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. BioNTech pays the University of Pennsylvania Board of Trustees directly, and the university is protected from civil liability if people try to sue for “bodily injury” or “death” caused by BioNTech vaccines.

BioNTech signed a licensing agreement in 2018 with the University of Pennsylvania, which directly funds the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement. Even though Coronavirus had not yet broken out when the deal was made, the 2018 agreement ensured massive payments for the University of Pennsylvania if its technology ended up getting used in new mRNA-based vaccines. Well, UPenn’s technology did end up getting used in the mRNA-based Coronavirus vaccine produced by Pfizer and BioNTech, and the deal has led to massive revenue for the university. Joe Biden, who was working for the University of Pennsylvania when the deal was made, received more than $900,000 from the University of Pennsylvania in the two years before he ran for president in this past election.

The University of Pennsylvania also houses the pro-vaccine website FactCheck.org. University of Pennsylvania president Amy Gutmann is now Biden’s nominee for Ambassador to Germany. The Biden administration’s FDA has speedily approved or authorized Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines including for children — all while the Penn Biden Center’s parent university enjoys massive profits from vaccine sales and FDA approval. And the Pfizer-connected FDA even knew about numerous adverse events for children related to the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, but allowed children to be injected with it anyway. Now, as the FDA considers emergency use authorization for a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for children as young as six months old, the direct financial relationship between these vaccines and Joe Biden’s think tank must be exposed.

FDA Restores Document on Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine Approval After Pressure From Epoch Times, Lawmakers

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has restored a document outlining why it approved Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine, days after the regulatory agency pulled the 30-page file offline after receiving questions about it from The Epoch Times.

No explanation has been given for why the document vanished hours after the questions were sent, but the removal triggered pushback from the National Vaccine Information Center and multiple members of Congress.

“The coincidental removal of the approval documents for the Moderna vaccine is another massive blow to the credibility of the FDA, and I call on the agency to release this document immediately,” Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), a member of the House Oversight Committee, told The Epoch Times via email on Feb. 4.

The document in question is called the Summary Basis for Regulatory Action (SBRA) and was made public on Feb. 1, one day after the FDA approved Moderna’s jab without consulting its expert advisory panel.

After The Epoch Times sent questions about critical portions of the document, it disappeared from the agency’s website.

It popped back up after multiple emails and phone calls from The Epoch Times.

Spokespersons have declined to explain what happened.

The document, embedded below, includes the highest government estimate yet for post-vaccination heart inflammation cases. An FDA meta-analysis of data from four health care claims databases estimated that, among males aged 18 to 25, the rate of myocarditis following Moderna’s primary series was 148 per million males vaccinated. Myocarditis is a form of heart inflammation that can lead to death, though most cases do not.

The FDA has declined so far to provide a copy of the meta-analysis or a copy of another document referred to in the SBRA, a quantitative, age-stratified benefit-risk analysis in males 18 and older to evaluate the benefits and risks of Moderna’s vaccine.

FDA, Doctors’ Group Reach Agreement on Production of Pfizer Vaccine Documents

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) must produce 10,000 pages by March 1 and another 10,000 pages by April 1 in response to the Freedom of Information Act request and subsequent lawsuit by the Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency, according to the agreement, which was approved by the judge overseeing the case on Feb. 2.

The FDA must then produce 80,000 additional pages in three tranches, one due May 2, one due June 1, and one due July 1.

The regulatory agency was ordered to produce 70,000 pages by Aug. 1 and then 55,000 pages on or before the first business of each month thereafter.

San Jose Mayor Talks About Seizing Guns from Owners Who Don’t Pay City Fee

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo (D) spoke to Slate about seizing firearms from people who refuse to pay the city’s new $25 gun owners’ fee or comply with the city’s new liability insurance requirement for gun owners.

Breitbart News reported that San Jose’s city council passed the fee ordinance and the liability insurance ordinance on January 25, 2022.

Slate notes the city fee is $25 and quotes Mayor Liccardo saying the funds collected will go to a foundation overseen by “Stanford professors, an epidemiologist who has been focused on gun harm, and nonprofit experts who understand domestic violence prevention programs, suicide prevention.”

Liccardo explained that the ordinance requiring the fee is “civil,” rather than criminal in nature. However, he made clear that failure to pay the fee can result of seizure of a firearm.

He said:

For example, there’s a bar brawl and they’re patting down everybody and someone’s got a gun. “Have you paid your fee? You have insurance?” “No.” OK, well, there’s an opportunity for us to remove the gun. And then when the gun owner comes back and demonstrates that they comply with the law and they’re a lawful gun owner, they get their gun back. But in the meantime, you’ve taken a gun out of a bar brawl. And that’s not a bad thing.

Liccardo then took exception to the suggestion the city fee is actually a tax on guns:

I don’t blame anyone for being emotional about this. These are really important issues that go to the core of what we believe about freedoms and rights and our own safety. But I’d say this. First, it’s a fee, it’s not a tax, and I won’t go into the details about what the difference is, but the reality is that in this country, there have been taxes on guns and ammunition since at least 1919, and they’ve been upheld by the courts. So the fact that there’s a constitutional right attached somewhere to the exercise of a particular activity doesn’t mean it can’t be regulated, taxed, or have a fee imposed.

National security advisor Jake Sullivan said on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that Russian military forces could invade Ukraine “any day now.”

Anchor Martha MacCallum said, “Sources are telling us that Russia is now quoted ‘70% ready to launch an invasion in Ukraine.’ Because they are now or will soon be upwards of 130,000 troops and significant new presence of jets, missiles, antiaircraft equipment in Russia and in Belarus, north of Ukraine. But the U.S. and Ukraine have sent mixed signals on whether or not they think an invasion will actually happen, so what can you tell us this morning? Is an invasion imminent?”

Sullivan said, “Well, what I can tell you Martha is that we are in the window, Any day now Russia could take military action against Ukraine or it could be a couple of weeks from now or Russia could choose to take the diplomatic path instead. The key thing is that the United States needs to be and is prepared for any of those contingencies in lockstep with our allies and partners.”

He added, “We have reinforced and reassured our allies on the eastern flank, we have united the west, we have provided material support to Ukraine, all of President Biden’s direction. We have also offered Russia a diplomatic path if they choose to take it. If war breaks out It will come at an enormous human cost to Ukraine, but we believe that based on our preparations and our response, it will come at a strategic cost to Russia as well.”

German Interior Minister Allegedly Wrote For Far-Left Antifa Publication

German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser has been accused of writing an article for a far-left Antifa publication run by a group that has been accused of having ties to extremism by the Bavarian office of the German domestic intelligence agency.

Faeser, a member of the Social Democrats (SPD) who became German Interior Minister last year in December, allegedly penned an article for an Antifa magazine last year run by the Bund der Antifaschistinnen und Antifaschisten (VVN-BdA), a group that has been listed as an extremist outfit for years by the Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

The article, which was published in July of last year, however, the existence of the article was, however, only highlighted this week by the German conservative newspaper Junge Freiheit.

The article concerned the 116 letters that were sent to various politicians, activists, artists, and others from August of 2018 to March of 2021, containing death threats and racial hatred. and signed as “NSU 2.0”.

The letters were signed by “NSU 2.0”, a reference to the National Socialist Underground (NSU), a neo-Nazi terrorist group that operated from 2000 to 2007 and carried out ten murders, two bombings, and robbed a number of banks across the country.

“Most of the NSU 2.0 letters are full of disgusting right-wing fantasies of the destruction of dissenters. And all this news has one goal: to intimidate those who stand up for tolerance, freedom, cosmopolitanism, and the democratic rule of law in public,” Faeser allegedly wrote in the article.

A 53-year-old man was later arrested and charged in connection to the NSU 2.0 letters in October of last year and in her article, Faeser blames the internet saying, “And it’s probably really true that he wrote his disgusting pamphlets without outside help. But he certainly did it in the awareness that he was not alone.”

“Because in order to network, to strengthen each other in racial delusion and fascist fantasies, the internet is enough for the right-wing extremists today. This is where the ideological trailblazers meet their useful idiots. There, deluded people become violent offenders,” Faeser is said to have written and added, “Without the internet as a global radicalization machine, the growing right-wing extremism of the 21st century is inconceivable.”

The article continued by saying that the “fight against fascism and right-wing extremism, racism and ethnic ideologies” is part of the “political DNA” of the SDP, adding that it is important to stand “against right-wing ideas, right-wing threats, and right-wing violence. Every day and in every place”.

Pipeline Politics: Ex German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder Nominated to Board of Russian State-Owned Gas Company

Gerhard Schröder, the former left-leaning Chancellor of Germany, has been nominated to the board of a Russian state-owned gas company.

The move to nominate Schröder to the board of Gazprom has prompted mass outcry amongst German politicians, while the country as a whole has been slammed as of late for its overreliance on Russian natural gas.

According to a report from POLITICO, Gerhard Schröder was on an official list of candidates for the board of directors that was published on Friday. Names for the board will be voted on during a shareholders’ meeting in St. Petersburg that is slated for June.

If elected, this will be far from the first senior position on a Russian energy company the ex-chancellor has held, with German public broadcaster Deutsche Welle reporting that he is also serving as chairman of the supervisory board of Russian state energy company Rosneft, chairman of the shareholders’ committee for Nord Stream AG, and as president of the board of directors at Nord Stream 2 AG.

Of particular note is the fact that Schröder was the one to initially approve the Nord Stream 2 project during his time as Germany’s Chancellor, a project that has since come under heavy fire for making Germany too reliant on Russian energy.

The ex-German Chancellor is also well known for being very good friends with Russian President Vladimir Putin and has more recently taken to social media to decry the boycotts of the Beijing Olympics over the numerous human rights abuses committed by the communist regime in Hong Kong, Tibet, and Xinjiang.

“Boycott the Olympics in Beijing? No!” Schröder wrote online. “Anyone who wants to put pressure on China with boycott demands and moralizing foreign policy is playing a dangerous game.”

“Because China is not only our most important sales market, but we also need China in all central questions of global politics,” he continued. “And we will only achieve success here through dialogue, not through threats.”

News of the nomination has prompted outrage across Germany, with many politicians calling for action to be taken regarding the potential appointment.

“It’s time to start thinking about withdrawing Gerhard Schröder’s [perks as] a former chancellor,” wrote Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann MdB, of the Free Democratic Party. “He harms the country he is meant to serve [and] willingly accepts more than good pay for it from an autocrat. Appanage from the German state is not compatible with this.”

“A former SPD chancellor cannot cash in on Gazprom and the German state at the same time,” said the Deputy Secretary-General of the Christian Social Union, Florian Hahn. “Anyone withering away to become a stirrer for Putin’s interests harms Germany and is unworthy of his office!”

“Gerhard Schröder gets a promotion from his bosom friend Putin,” said another CSU politician, Stefan Müller. “Cross-party, we should talk about withdrawing his office as former chancellor.”

“He harms Germany,” Müller concluded.

When Silicon Valley product designer Chris Messina became the 19th person to join Instagram in 2010 he was hoping to change the world.

A friend of founders Kevin Systrom, 38, and Mike Krieger, 35, Messina, who invented the #hashtag to create global conversations, was inspired by company mantras such as 'Simplicity Matters', 'Inspire Creativity', and 'Community First'.

Now fast forward 12 years, and Instagram, which has a revenue of $86 billion and more than a billion users globally, has become one of the most influential – and toxic - social media companies in the world.

It was branded 'the worst social media platform for mental health and bullying' in 2017 by Britain's Royal Society for Public Health and its algorithms were blamed for the suicide of 14-year-old Molly Russell, who took her own life that year after looking at graphic self-harm images on Instagram.

'We were certainly plenty naïve,' said Messina. 'We had ideas about the world and about how technology could improve the world.

'The people that were building a lot of the social technologies were, I don't want to say similar to me, but they were probably more similar to me than different.

'What I mean by that is that we were, one, interested in technology, two, we were pretty literate and educated, and we thought that by bringing this technology to the world, a lot of things would just sort of sort themselves out.

'I'm sure that there was some vague awareness perhaps about that risk in the early days of social media… I don't want to say we were blinded by ambition but blinded by the desire to get this stuff out there and then we'd sort it out.

'Part of this was a selection bias. We were seeing people having a great time and using these things for good and, I think, that, at least for me, propelled me to continue to believe that bringing more access to more people was a net good as opposed to just saying: "OK, you know what? Humans aren't ready for this. Let's give it up".

'I still love Instagram. And I really hope that it's able to sort of figure out how to navigate this space and get back to what it wanted to be. But I can't say that I'm holding my breath for that to happen.'

Prince Andrew 'will try to cast Virginia Roberts as a sex trafficker by seeking testimony from Epstein victim that she recruited her at 14 and trained her to give sexual massages'

Prince Andrew is seeking sworn testimony from a Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell victim that will claim his accuser Virginia Roberts recruited her at 14 and trained her to give sexual massages, it has been claimed.

The high-risk gamble is part of the Duke of York's 'unclean hands' defence strategy, which will see his lawyers argue Ms Roberts does not deserve damages because she was complicit in a 'criminal enterprise'.

But the move could backfire against the royal, as his witness, Carolyn Andriano, recently corroborated claims that Ms Roberts had sex with Andrew at Maxwell's London home when she was 17 - meaning she could do so yet again under oath.

'It's potentially a double-edged sword,' a source familiar with the duke's strategy told the Times.

Andrew's team are now looking for other women who may have been recruited by Ms Roberts while under age.

'We are interested in speaking with and interviewing anyone and everyone who has information relevant to these allegations,' the source added.

Ms Roberts is suing Andrew in New York over claims she was trafficked by paedophile financier Epstein and forced to have sex with the prince on three occasions when she was 17. Andrew vehemently denies the claims.

It emerged this weekend that the Duke of York is set to meet lawyers representing Ms Roberts in London on March 10, where he will testify under oath according to sources close to the royal.

'We agreed to voluntarily produce the Duke for a deposition on March 10. Despite repeated requests, Ms. Giuffre (Roberts) still hasn't committed to a date or location for her deposition,' a source close to the Duke said on Saturday.

The news broke just a day before the Queen, Andrew's mother, is set to mark her 70th year on the throne as part of her Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The Prince is being prepared by his UK-based legal team as he prepares to face a grilling over the span of two days by David Boies, 80, one of America's most renowned attorneys, and Sigrid McCawley.

Andrew, who was stripped of all his military titles and royal peerages last month after the case was confirmed as going to trial, will be questioned about three alleged assaults in 2001.

Meanwhile, Ms Andriano looks set to form a key part of Andrew's defence.

We’ve previously explored the mind-numbing “experts say” mantra that the corporate media parrots non-stop. Talking heads incessantly implore the peasant class to “respect the science.”

The purpose is to create a mirage of consensus in order to discourage real journalists or normal people from looking into matters themselves. This tactic is pervasive, but nowhere has it been more widely employed than in the COVID era.

Because, if three key facts were permitted to infect the public consciousness, they would inevitably result in mass upheaval of the ruling class that perches on top of society, feeding on it like vultures:

A.) the original virus almost certainly escaped from a Wuhan lab (if it wasn’t purposely released; let’s not underestimate the hubris of the biomedical state). Worse, that leaky Chinese lab relied on funding from the United States National Institutes of Health (funneled through a “non-profit” called EcoHealth Alliance) to perform dangerous the gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses.

B.) The vaccines (which are actually mRNA gene therapies) do not work to prevent infection as promised and cause extensive side effects that were covered up in the original trials.

C.) The “social distancing” lockdown measures – which plunged untold billions worldwide into poverty, death, and despair – were totally ineffective at preventing the spread of the virus: “Shelter-in-place orders had no detectable health benefits.” Imagine the criminality of all the suffering for no good reason.

At every turn, the “experts” got it wrong.

So how does the biomedical establishment maintain the façade of legitimacy?

You’ve heard the talking point ad nauseam: “99% of scientists agree the vaccines are safe and effective.”

First of all, that figure is not vindicated by any actual polling; it’s just an offhand catchphrase.

Second, what happens to scientists who deviate from the “safe and effective” slogan?

Might lose their professional license

Ostracized by their peers

If they’re a researcher, they’ll risk wrecking their career and losing critical funding from NIH and pharma corps.

Meeting American envoy, IDF chief sorry for ‘moral’ failing in death of US citizen

In 1st meeting with Tom Nides, IDF chief presents ambassador with overview of regional security situation; they also discuss Iran nuclear threat, deepening bilateral cooperation

In his first meeting with US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides on Friday, IDF chief of staff Aviv Kohavi expressed regret over the death of a 78-year-old Palestinian-American man who suffered a heart attack after being bound, gagged and abandoned at a construction site in the middle of winter by Israeli soldiers last month.

Kohavi “made clear that this was a grave moral incident that is contrary to the values of the IDF,” an Israeli military statement on the meeting said, reiterating the one issued on the findings of the IDF’s internal probe into the January 12 incident death of Omar As’ad.

Kohavi also confirmed to Nides that a criminal investigation into the incident is ongoing and that disciplinary actions had already been taken against the officers involved. Two officers were removed from their positions and a third was formally censured.

As’ad’s death sparked a sharp response from the Biden administration, with the State Department emphasizing in the multiple statements issued on the matter that it takes the safety of its nationals abroad very seriously.

Even after the IDF’s internal probe, the US has continued to call for a “thorough criminal investigation.”

“The United States expects a thorough criminal investigation and full accountability in this case, and we welcome receiving additional information on these efforts as soon as possible,” a State Department statement said.

A group of Democratic lawmakers has also sounded off on As’ad’s death, demanding an investigation and expressing concern over Israeli military practices in the West Bank more broadly.

Also during their meeting, Kohavi briefed Nides on the regional security situation, and the two discussed shared challenges in the Mideast, “foremost being the threat of the Iranian regime,” the IDF readout said. They also raised opportunities for deepening security cooperation in the Middle East.

A day earlier, Defense Minister Benny Gantz visited the United States Navy’s 5th Fleet base in Bahrain, using the opportunity to hail ties between the three countries amid growing threats from Iran.

Gantz’s visit came as the 5th Fleet launched its biennial International Maritime Exercise, known by its abbreviation IMX, a massive international drill with participants from around the world, including countries with which Israel does not have formal ties, like Saudi Arabia.

Israeli officials see a growing potential for formal ties with Saudi Arabia, as the regional power tracks the benefits of such relations currently being enjoyed by the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, which normalized ties with Jerusalem in September 2020.

At least 318 media outlets have closed since the fall of the Western-backed government in 33 of 34 provinces in Afghanistan, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) said.

The IFJ in a report on Thursday expressed concerns over the status of Afghan media community.

“The crisis has hit newspapers the hardest with just 20 out of 114 continuing to publish,” the report read. “51 TV stations, 132 radio stations and 49 online media outlets have ceased operations according to the report compiled for the IFJ.”

Based on the report, only 2,334 journalists are still employed “from a pre-Taliban high of 5069."

72 percent of journalists who lost their jobs are women, according to the IFJ. “243 women are still employed by the media.”

“From threats to draconian reporting restrictions and from economic collapse to the withdrawal of development funding the picture is catastrophic, not just for journalists who have lost their jobs or been forced to flee but also for citizens who are being denied access to information,” IFJ General Secretary Anthony Bellanger said.

The Afghan media community called on the Islamic Emirate to help the media gain access to information.

“If the immediate steps are taken towards the situation of the media in the country, only some certain number of media organizations will be active in Afghanistan in the near future,” said Hujatullah Mujadidi, head of the Head of the Afghan Independent Journalists Association.

“We call on the international community to invest in media to protect the process of access to information in the current Afghan situation,” said Hafizullah Barakzai, head of the Afghanistan Journalists Council.

Some journalists called on the international community to address the collapse of the Afghan media community.

“If the restrictions imposed on media remain in force, the media organizations will stop operating and will collapse,” said Samiullah Pam, a journalist.

“We call on the international community to seriously consider the situation of the Afghan media. We call on the government to assist with the media in access to information,” journalist Naseem said.

This comes as the Islamic Emirate announced earlier that the Media Violation Commission and a Joint Commission of media and the government would be established soon.

Talking at a conference in Kabul, Islamic Emirate’s Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said that the the Mass Media Law of Afghanistan is still enforceable.

Canadian premier calls truckers protesting COVID-19 vaccine mandate an 'occupation'

The premier of the Canadian province of Ontario denounced the truckers protesting the COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other coronavirus protocols, calling it an “occupation” and demanding for it to be ended.

“It’s not a protest anymore. It’s become an occupation,” Ontario Premier Doug Ford said, according to The Associated Press. “It’s time for this to come to an end.”

Among the coronavirus protocols that Canadian truckers are protesting is a requirement that those who are unvaccinated undergo COVID-19 testing and quarantine following cross-border travel from the U.S.

Those protesting the virus protocol organized a march to Canada’s capital, Ottawa, which last weekend saw thousands of protesters, the AP noted. More than 1,000 protesters are anticipated to be back at the Capitol on foot this weekend, in addition to between 300 and 400 additional trucks.

Other protests are expected in Quebec City and Toronto.

Other lawmakers have denounced what has been dubbed a “freedom truck convoy.”

“I wholeheartedly and unreservedly deplore and denounce what is happening in Ottawa with the so-called Freedom Convoy right now. Let me be clear: If you wrap yourself in or go about waving a Nazi or Confederate flag, you are declaring yourself a person who embraces hate, bigotry, and racism,” Sen. Dennis Patterson said in a statement, according to the AP.

However, some in the U.S. have expressed their support for truckers, including former President Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who said “Canadian truckers rule.”

"We want those great Canadian truckers to know that we are with them all the way," Trump said to a rally in Texas late last month, according to CTV News.

Canada has not been the only country to grapple with protesting against the pandemic — numerous European nations, like France, have experienced citywide efforts to end coronavirus restrictions and health passes, with some arguing it is an infringement on their personal freedoms.

Pence's former chief of staff: Trump's claims of overturning election 'merited response'

Former Vice President Mike Pence this week gave a more direct rebuke of former President Trump's election claims because Trump's assertion that Pence could have overturned the results "merited response," Pence's former chief of staff said Sunday.

Marc Short said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that Pence had been "crystal clear from day one" that he lacked the authority to reject the election results on Jan. 6, 2021. While Pence has said as much over the past year, it wasn't until Friday that he explicitly said Trump was "wrong" to suggest otherwise.

"He extended those remarks a little bit his week … primarily because the president's comments about the vice president had the ability to overturn the election I think merited response," Short said. "Of course there's nothing in the 12th Amendment or the Electoral Count Act that would afford a vice president that authority. It's why no vice president in 200 years has ever used that authority."

Short insisted there were legitimate concerns about the way the election was conducted in states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia, all of which President Biden won in 2020. But the former Trump administration official conceded the time for legal challenges had passed by Jan. 6, 2021, and Biden is the "duly elected" president.

Pence on Friday delivered his clearest rebuke to date of Trump's election rhetoric after the former president had suggested Pence could have overturned the 2020 election results, and later mused that a special House panel investigating the Jan. 6 riots should look into why Pence did not reject the votes that certified Biden as the winner.

"There are those in our party who believe that as the presiding officer over the joint session of Congress, I possessed unilateral authority to reject Electoral College votes. And I heard this week that President Trump said I had the right to ‘overturn the election,' " Pence said at a Federalist Society event in Florida.

"President Trump is wrong. I had no right to overturn the election," Pence continued. "The presidency belongs to the American people and the American people alone."

Trump has periodically attacked Pence for overseeing Congress's official count of the Electoral College votes on Jan. 6, 2021, that was interrupted when a mob of Trump supporters violently stormed the Capitol in a bid to stop the process. Some of those rioters chanted "hang Mike Pence."

Short on Sunday said Trump "had many bad advisers who were basically snake oil salesman giving him really random and novel ideas as to what the vice president could do."
