It was the hot tub that did it. Photos of Canadian convoy supporters relaxing in a hot tub on a downtown Ottawa street last weekend were splashed all over the news. Now Justin Trudeau is mad and he’s gone and invoked war measures, known as the Emergencies Act. He wants that hot tub off the streets, pronto, and he needs wartime powers to get it done. Civil liberties remain 'temporarily' suspended… just for two weeks, while we flatten the protesters!
On announcing the 'state of emergency', (state of emergency piled upon pre-existing state of emergency), Trudeau’s government immediately declared that banks are allowed to freeze personal and business accounts on the mere suspicion of involvement with the protest, without obtaining a court order. They cannot be sued for such actions. Police, intelligence agencies and banks are authorised to share 'relevant information'. Banks are now required to report financial relationships of persons involved in the protests to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
The Act also allows the government to force businesses (such as tow trucks) to provide services against their will, to ban public assembly and travel, to forbid the use of a specific property, and to secure specific areas. Its implementation was opposed by four provincial premiers.

The Ottawa Police Service arrested Tyson George BILLINGS, 44 years old, of High Prairie, Alberta on February 19, 2022.

Tyson Billings, who also goes by “Freedom George”, arrived in Ottawa Jan. 29 with thousands of truckers to protest the mandatory vaccinations imposed on the industry. The protest is called Freedom Convoy 2022.
“I get called Freedom George, that’s what they call me,” says Billings, referring to his middle name.
“I’m here until it’s over,” he adds. “I didn’t come across the country for nothing.
“We want our country back.”
We continue to maintain a police presence in and around the area the unlawful protest occupied. We are using fences to ensure the ground gained back is not lost.
"And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me," she wrote in the statement to mark her 70 years on the throne, "and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service."

The AI was trained on a simulator to shape the plasma held within a tokamak.
As the world waits for construction of the largest fusion reactor yet, called ITER, smaller reactors with similar designs are still running. These reactors, called tokamaks, help us test both hardware and software. The hardware testing helps us refine things like the materials used for container walls or the shape and location of control magnets.
But arguably, the software is the most important. To enable fusion, the control software of a tokamak has to monitor the state of the plasma it contains and respond to any changes by making real-time adjustments to the system's magnets. Failure to do so can result in anything from a drop in energy (which leads to the failure of any fusion) to seeing the plasma spill out of containment (and scorch the walls of the container).
Getting that control software right requires a detailed understanding of both the control magnets and the plasma the magnets manipulate, or, it would be more accurate to say, getting that control software right has required. Because today, Google's DeepMind AI team is announcing that its software has been successfully trained to control a tokamak.

In his letter of resignation, U.S. President Joe Biden's special envoy for Haiti Daniel Foote apologized to "the people of Haiti, mired in poverty, hostage to the terror, kidnappings, robberies and massacres of armed gangs and suffering under a corrupt government with gang alliances."
"What our Haitian friends really want, and need," he wrote, "is the opportunity to chart their own course, without international puppeteering and favored candidates."
Foote made it clear that a clutch of foreign diplomats known as the "Core Group" had chosen current Prime Minister (and acting president) Ariel Henry, after wearying of Claude Joseph, the first person they had backed to succeed murdered President Jovenel Moise.
"The hubris that makes us believe we should pick the winner — again — is impressive," he wrote.
"Daniel Foote is saying something that we all knew for ages and we've been talking about for many years — that elections in Haiti are not real," said Haitian-born sociologist Frederic Boisrond of McGill University.
"Over the past years what we've seen is Canada, the U.S. and France really taking control of the country, of the political agenda in the country."
