Spent an hour deleting spam from this board.

Each post used a different ip to make it harder to remove.

Doubt it was that many different posters, prolly very few.

Spam like this is the work of shills. Do not have a great solution to this problem because META is an open thread - an important thread because it allows anons, bakers, and admins to talk with one another. Ironic that the same spammers that reeee constantly about free speech actively seek to destroy the free speech of others with spam.

Will try to maintain an open thread. If this becomes impossible, BO can always be contacted directly (see OP) or in a convo on Generals. I am there every day, usually several times. But better to have an open Meta thread if we can maintain.

If anons see any SPAM here, please report it immediately on General thread so we can take care of it.

Anons have asked about board deletions and bans -

On Feb 15, I sent this out to all BVs for QR -

Bans are for 3 to 7 days for spam, make sure to specify or else they are forever. [They can also be for less time but not more.]

On Mar 6, after a bread was accidentally deleted, sent another email out encouraging BVs to be careful about deleting spam so that accidents like this do not happen.

bottom line -

It's more important to have the support and confidence of anon than to eliminate spam.

This morning I sent BVs a reminder of these policies. Along with this -

USE PERMABANS ONLY FOR ILLEGAL CONTENT - NEVER FOR SPAM OR "JUST BECAUSE".

Am in the process of a more thorough guide for deletions and bans. Meanwhile, this is the policy. It is CRITICAL that we have a consistent and conservative policy regarding BANS and that all of us follow it.

                          • -

It takes time to develop policies because it's first necessary to see what works and what doesn't. Have been watching a lot to answer these questions.

Deletions can be useful for intensive spamming or for spam or other content that is reported by anons. Bans are used for illegal content as a matter of 8kun policy and may also be used for persistent spamming but only for a limited time. The problems caused by bans are now mitigated by the existence of a ban appeal process addressed to 8kun admins but it is existing policy to use them conservatively. BVs have just been reminded of this so things should smooth out in the future.

Did not delete that thead, busy deleting spam here.

You were banned from this board only when it became obvious your "questions" were not real questions. You have zero interest in working with current admin, end of convo.

All future posts will be deleted.

OSS's actions are well-known to those who are around a lot and they go back almost two years now. He is not being unfairly accused.

>Do you think you are on the right side?

Don't ask q's like that, do ask Am I in the right

place? I cannot know all the answers about Q. Can only follow my instincts, and my instincts say "stay here, help organize the place, get out alt-news that not available elsewhere."

Q said many times "we are the news."

OSS is a superb propagandist. Even now, would not write him off as an adversary. Can exploit a minor mistake to make it look like "fuckery." Or even create a completely fake charge and push it in a way that creates doubt. Doesn't take much on a board like this.
