>realistic observations of how society…
Based on who's assertion of a functional society? If the argument you are making is for the cycle in pic related, you've a valid point. I wouldn't disagree with that at all. "A time and place for everything" would fall into that idea of "all things in moderation", which I think you're trying to get at in seeking a balance that's productive enough to keep conversations about the state of humans being moving forward. The real problem that needs to be identified and addressed in those conversations, as I see it at least, is how predators use human nature to create divisions and move on the minds of the (now) isolated to embolden their positions on these things while their consolidation of power/money work in the background.
Lots of conversations are happening right now informing and empowering communities/families to take back control over the direction of culture in society. Repulsive indoctrination in schools and poisonous facets of pop culture are being rebelled against by valid conservative-leaning talking points; nobody's stacking a convincing argument against a moral return-to-normalcy (in which the debates are working to shape into something that's actually definable). My point is to caution against rubber-banding it to the point of regressive and oppressive cultural "rectifying" for the sake of cleaning things to a perception that's considered "PG" enough for everyone to participate. If we're going to take it that far, might as well mandate burkas and the color black for all clothing.
Those living in the current climate are simply riding out the decadence allowed by the people that have been pulling the strings since the beginning. If it all did completely collapse here, there would be no prudes left to rise from whatever proverbial ashes you think would come of it because that would mean the DS got their way, and any free thinkers would be long gone. They'd have their "sheep class" to fit into their "NWO" and there'd likely never be another uprising for freedom of thought and expression because those ideas would be long gone and removed from the vernacular; WW.
Long/Short:
Be leery about tossing out the baby with the bathwater due to the valid concerns over how predators have used human nature to weaponize it against humans. Instead, let's identify how they did it, and get back to growing beyond those tricks and still allowing free people to people freely (within reason, and keeping in mind "a time and place"). I have confidence we can do this because I'm certain it's been done before.
