>and we thought they were dragons
to be fair
they are also called wyrmm's (worms)
the "fire worm"
worm = serpent = snake = dragon (winged serpent)
do you know why the image of the caduceus (and also the 'Rod of Asclepius') has a snake (serpent) "wound" around a staff?
it is one of the most ancient medical procdures ever discovered in recorded texts (Egyptian in this case)
it is for removing parasitic WORMS from beneath a humans skin
an incision is made in the skin near the "head" of the worm (serpent)
a small segment of the worm is pull through the incision, and it is WOUND AROUND A STICK
the stick is turned, and in so doing, the WORM is wrapped around the stick as it is extracted through the small hole of the incision
this procedure is the 'reason' for the snake around a staff imagery being related to medicine.
although
The Rod of Asclepius is NOT the same thing as the Caduecius
even though they are often used interchangeably
