Sounds to me like there is some kind of big meeting going on that they want to have a plausible cover story for going missing for a few days to a couple of weeks.
They heading to NZ or antarctica for some weird ritual or something?
the whole boom boom boom thing is out because other people like obama got it at the same time as well so they all either met together already and got the disease at their meeting, or they are planning on meeting using this as coverage.
