Born with no name, the vixen was mother to an unknown number of kits (who were also captured on Wednesday morning). Throughout the past week, she has made a number of great friends and a smattering of enemies. She was known for her beautiful red coat, her protective mothering, and an unabashed love of mischief. At the time of publishing, she has a Twitter account with over 4,000 followers.

As often is the case with working mothers, the Capitol Fox worked tirelessly for her family, putting the life of her kits before her own. Even Representative Bera, who only had a brief encounter with the mother before she bit him, wished the Capitol Fox well and hoped she and her family would be relocated. But she won't be, because she's dead. And her children probably will be soon.

Let us remember her for what she gave us. Let us honor her, in a slightly more humane way, by always nipping at the ankles of our representatives, ensuring that they're doing the job we elected them

this reminds me of the LDR post talking about you dying but watching your children die of thirst first

The Washington Post

Three fox kits from U.S. Capitol grounds euthanized

Health officials said “the mother tested positive for the rabies virus and the kits could have been exposed during grooming or other means. They were no longer able to be safely rehabilitated and were humanely euthanized.”

Missile That Hit Ukrainian Civilian Station Had 'For Children' On it

Isabel van Brugen - 2h ago

ARussian missile with the Russian lettering "For the children" painted on its side was photographed on the ground in the aftermath of an attack on a railway station packed with women and children in Ukraine's Kramatorsk on Friday.

The eastern city of Kramatorsk, in the eastern Donbas region, was struck by two powerful rockets. Ukrainian officials say at least 39 were killed and more than 100 were wounded in the attack which President Volodymyr Zelensky said deliberately targeted civilians.

A photograph showing the remains of what appears to be one of the rockets that struck the railway station bears an inscription that appears to push Russian propaganda that Russian children of the Donbas region are "suffering under Ukrainian shelling," according to Berlin-based Eastern Europe expert Sergej Sumlenny. Some interpreted it as a message of revenge.
