IDEAS for better notetaking & baking

  • In the past, anons usually practiced baking and notetaking on /comms/ board. When they were ready, they came on the board and signed in as baker. Bakers did both notes and bakes.

  • Sometimes bakers worked with notetakers, but usually, each knew the other's routine. So it was clear who was doing what. Both signed in and coordinated at the start of bread.

  • Now we have longer breads and more notes. So having notetakers is a good thing. But a little coordination would eliminate DUP notes and other problems.

SUGGESTIONS

  • GENERALLY: ''If a new baker comes on the board, takes a handoff and then sees notes that are not his, it's confusing''.

This is why it's better for anons to post notes just when

(a) bread is GHOSTED (hopefully with a signin and tag to DOUGH before posting)

(b) BAKER requests a notetaker OR NOTETAKER asks baker if he would like a noter and baker agrees.

  • If a baker picks up a GHOSTED bread where there is a notetaker (which he'll see by checking the DOUGH, right?), it's a courtesy for baker to check in with notetaker and let him know whether he would like notetaker to continue or whether he wants to note the bread from now on.

Anons APPRECIATE both bakers and noters. But better comms would eliminate confusion.

Make sense?

>but the notetaker hasn't been tying it to the dough.

sometimes they do, but not often enough.

truth is, it's hard to get notetakers to sign in, especially new ones.

once they gain confidence, hope they will sign in more often.

how many of us have taken an hour's worth of notes only to find somebody else took them too?

the reason there are notetakers now is that breads are slower but there is also more news. means that it's more work for bakers, sometimes they have time to bake but not to baker and note.

>Bakers are incompetent if they need a Notetaker

some would agree, some disagree

i almost always note my own bakes.

but appreciate notes if i pick up a bake @500.

if baker signs in to ghost bread, first ck to see if there's a noter

if so, try to find em and coordinate - either take over noting or ask when noter will do final drop (often @650).

if late in bake, sometimes i post

ANY ANON TAKING NOTES?

or something similar that's easily seen

in case there's a noter who didn't sign in yet

Then set up the bake and ck back

Hoping if there's a noter, they will find the post and respond or post something

>Teamwork is best work

Yep - great when it works, always a challenge.

Notes are harder in some ways but baking involves timing. It's been awhile since Q posted, but during Q bakes, timing can be pretty hairy.
