Is he just trying to bid the price up to an attractive enough price whereby enough people sell for him to hold 50.01% of all outstanding shares? Or is he simply trying to get the consortium of other controlling interests/owners to sell to him so that he maybe only owns 31% of the shares, but eliminates all of the shareholders big enough to stand in the way of his vision—enough for a solid plurality?
