The Black Regiment (Black Robed Regiment)

The Black Regiment (Black Robed Regiment), a group of patriot-pastors who greatly assist America's fight for freedom by courageously preaching the Biblical principles of liberty and independence from their pulpits.

We Need To Resurrect The Black Regiment

by Chuck Baldwin

August 22, 2006

Most Christian pastors today appear to have little in common with the preachers of yesteryear. For example, many modern clerics would probably be surprised to learn of the active role colonial preachers had in America's fight for independence. It is no hyperbole to say that had it not been for the activism of America's pulpits, our independence would never have been won and this nation would not even exist.

Until at least the Twentieth Century, it was well known that the Black Regiment was an intricate, even crucial, part of America's successful break with the Crown. However, only a handful of clergymen nowadays has any knowledge whatsoever of the Black Regiment. This is tragic!

The moniker "Black Regiment" is due to the habit of these patriot-preachers wearing distinguishing black robes in the pulpits. However, more than attire sets these preachers apart.

The Black Regiment was composed of men of various Christian denominations who courageously championed the cause of liberty and independence and who preached fervently and faithfully the message of redemption and Biblical authority. They were untouchable and indefatigable!

In the thinking and preaching of the Black Regiment, freedom and independence were precious gifts of God not to be trampled under foot by men, human authority was limited and particular and subject to proper divine parameters, and the soul and mind of man were never to be enslaved by any master save Christ Himself.

Membership in the Black Regiment was unofficial and without human oversight. Preachers of the black robes were found among Baptists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, German Reformed, Lutherans, Congregationalists, and others. They were young and old, loud and soft-spoken, rough and gentle, and urban and rural. They differed on secondary doctrines and never surrendered their theological distinctives. Yet, they formed an irresistible and unstoppable army that neither King George nor the demons of hell could match!

As one reads the colonial history of the United States, he or she must be struck with the observation that the American people, on the whole, seemed to appreciate the courage and independence of their preachers. Even America's early political leaders shared in this appreciation.

For instance, John Adams once remarked, "It is the duty of the clergy to accommodate their discourses to the times, to preach against such sins as are most prevalent, and recommend such virtues as are most wanted. For example, if exorbitant ambition and venality are predominant, ought they not to warn their hearers against those vices? If public spirit is much wanted, should they not inculcate this great virtue? If the rights and duties of Christian magistrates and subjects are disputed, should they not explain them, show their nature, ends, limitations, and restrictions, how muchsoever it may move the gall of Massachusetts?"

The problem today is that America's preachers have taken off the black robes and put on yellow ones! Where is the preaching against prevalent sins? Where is the spiritual, scriptural explanation concerning the rights and duties, limitations and restrictions of Christian magistrates from America's pulpits today?

The famed Nineteenth Century revivalist Charles G. Finney had some trenchant words on this subject. He said, "If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it."

Both John Adams and Charles Finney were right on target! When is the last time you heard a nationally renowned (or even locally renowned) Christian pastor speak out against the One World Order that President Bush and so many others are currently constructing? When have you heard them speak against the demise of our constitutionally protected liberties with the implementation of the Patriot Act and similar encroachments? When did you hear them renouncing the way the White House and Congress are facilitating the invasion of our country by illegal aliens? The answer is you haven't and you won't.

In this regard, the words of the great German reformer, Martin Luther, come to mind: "If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the truth of God except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that moment attacking, I am not confessing Christ however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages there the loyalty of the soldier is proved; and to be steady on all the battlefield besides is mere flight and disgrace if he flinches at that point."

It appears obvious that a majority of our pastors are absent from the battlefield, and that is precisely the reason our country is in its current state of disarray. What America needs more than anything else is a resurrected Black Regiment!

Resurrecting the Black Regiment

Most Americans today would probably still recognize the stirring words from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Concord Hymn”: “By the rude bridge that arched the flood,/ Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,/ Here once the embattled farmers stood,/ And fired the shot heard round the world.” Most of us are still aware that those embattled farmers won for us the freedoms we too often take for granted today.

But how many of us are aware of the extent to which faith motivated those farmers to leave their families and homes and risk their lives for a cause that most would have considered hopeless at the time? How many are aware of the extent to which preachers actively participated in our War for Independence — and not just rhetorically from the pulpit, though the great sermons on behalf of the freedom fight provoked many parishioners to action? How many are familiar with the phrase “Black Regiment”?

That phrase encapsulates what Colonial America possessed in its War for Independence that is sadly lacking today.

The Black Regiment is a moniker that was given to the patriot-preachers of Colonial America. They were called the “Black Regiment” owing to the fact that so many of them had a propensity to wear long, black robes in the pulpit.

According to historian/educator Reverend Wayne Sedlak, in his article “The Black Regiment Led the Fight in Our War for Independence”:

The Black Robed Regiment: Preachers who fought

Dec 20, 2010

By Dan Fisher

On Sunday morning, Jan 21, 1776, pastor John Muhlenberg climbed into his pulpit in Woodstock, VA to preach. In his black clerical robe, the traditional dress of 18th century preachers, Muhlenberg preached from the third chapter of Ecclesiastes. He read how there is a time for all things. There’s a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to harvest. Then his voice began to rise as he said: “There’s a time of war, and a time of peace. There is a time for all things, a time to preach and a time to pray. But there is also a time to fight, and that time has now come!”

Then he did something his congregation did not expect. He removed his clerical robe revealing a colonial officer’s uniform beneath. Muhlenberg then stepped down from his pulpit and challenged the men of his congregation to join him in the fight for liberty.

Just a few days before, he had been commissioned by General George Washington to raise a regiment from the Woodstock area. As Muhlenberg walked down the aisle and out the door of his church, a drum began to roll outside. One by one, the men of Muhlenberg’s congregation filed out of the auditorium and volunteered to follow their courageous pastor.

UNDISCLOSED—"Huh? Where am I?" billionaire Elon Musk said in a slurred voice as he awoke from a tortured rest. He winced and groaned as he felt anew the pain from the bruises on his face and all over his body. He tried to reach up and touch his face, but found he was tied to a chair.

August 3rd, 2021 - BabylonBee.com

"Oh. Oh man."

Musk had a vague memory of a black car pulling up near his Texas home and some men in black getting out, beating him up, and throwing him in the car. "I've got to get out of here! My Twitter fans need to hear my thoughts on how great Dogecoin is! And think of all the based memes they're missing out on!"

"Oh, don't worry," said a man in a black suit and sunglasses, stepping out of the shadows. "We've taken good care of your public appearance while you've been… away."

"Who are you! What did you do to me?" Musk shouted, rocking back and forth in the chair. "Let me go! I have to go buy more Bitcoin!"

"Oh. I don't… think you'll be… buying Bitcoin anytime soon, Mister… Musk. Take a look."

The man then turned on a television, and there, to his horror, Musk saw himself. Or, rather, someone who looked like himself. "Yes, Mister… Musk. We've perfected cloning technology over the past… few years. You might say… nobody will ever miss you."

Musk watched in horror as his evil clone held a press conference praising China, denouncing Bitcoin, and talking about the need for a globalist society where we all work together for a greener future under the watchful eye of an increasingly powerful one-world order.

"And don't worry… we've taken the liberty of unfollowing The Babylon Bee on Twitter for you."

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

The Dumpster Fire Is Saved: 9 Positive Changes Coming To Twitter

Elon Musk recently found some spare change in his jeans pocket and decided to buy 9.2% of Twitter. Like a loving father, Musk is helping Twitter get back on the right path. Way to go, Elon!

Here are a few of the epic changes coming to Twitter as a result:

1) A warning label will be placed on all tweets that aren't based enough: The label will also be placed on memes that are insufficiently dank.

2) You can now choose from one of three avatars—Musk, Doge, and Pepe the Frog: This is all you need.

3) All tweets will freeze at 420 likes and 69 retweets: Nice.

4) Donald Trump will be allowed back in exchange for removing porn, terrorists, and genocidal leaders: Seems reasonable.

5) Sharing the New York Post story about Hunter's laptop is now mandatory: At least once per day. It's only fair.

6) Tweets from AOC will automatically be translated into English: We've been waiting for this feature forever!

7) The Babylon Bee will be placed in charge of all fact-checking: They are the most factual and infallible site in the world.

8) Jack Dorsey will be required to tweet "Censoring conservatives makes me an enemy of freedom" 100 times: Get writing, mister!

9) Anyone who doesn't like the changes will be offered the chance to leave and start their own social network: Conservatives are currently practicing their "smug" faces in the mirror for when they get a chance to say this.

Twitter Workers Worried Elon Musk Will Turn Their Free Speech Platform Into Platform That Allows Free Speech

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—With Elon Musk becoming Twitter's largest stakeholder and a new member of the board of directors, many within the company are worried he may turn their free speech platform into a platform that actually allows free speech.

"This could destroy us," said Yinny Xendapoo, Twitter's director of content moderation. "When we say we're a free speech platform, we never intended to actually allow free speech! If we allowed free speech, people might say things we don't like and that's NOT ok."

Others are concerned that Musk's influence may cause the social network to allow unfettered social networking, and millions of people to use the platform to platform themselves even though they are yucky and have weird opinions that shouldn't be platformed.

"This is not what our free speech social network was meant to do," said an angry Xendapoo.

Several within the company are calling for Musk's immediate removal, and have threatened to resign and start their own group text message on their phones where conservative opinions will not be allowed.

Liberals Outraged To Learn 10% Of Twitter Now Owned By African-American

SAN FRANCISCO, CA—Liberals at Twitter were outraged this morning upon finding out almost 10% of their company is now owned by an African-American. Several have threatened walk-outs to protest the news.

"That man's foreign ways aren't welcome here," said Twitter Programming Director Xerxie Vamoosixx, (xe/xir.) "I watched a TikTok video about a Salon article about a tweet from a journalist that said he is 'based,' which is another word for transphobic. I have literally not stopped shaking and throwing up on my desk since I found out."

Several unnamed sources from within the company expressed worry that the African immigrant will influence the company to value freedom of speech—even allowing people to send tweets people like Vamoosixx don't agree with. "Tweets I don't agree with make me feel unsafe which means they're literally violence and I'm gonna burn down this building," xe said.

Vamoosixx plans to stage a protest and demand the foreigner take his foreign ways back to where he came from.

Other Twitter employees expressed excitement over the new ownership—especially for the free White Claws now available in every break room.
