Not only do you save in tobacco expense, but you save your health.
Did you ever notice that a home-rolled cigarette (or pipe) goes out after not puffing it for a while? But a factory made cigarette continues to burn in the ashtray till it's all burned up?
Long ago, cigarette makers wanted to boost their cigarette sales, so they put certain chemicals in their tobacco that made it burn without a lot of oxygen drawn in - result, people put their cigarettes down in ashtrays, forget about them for a couple minutes, then discover they're all burned up, so they light another cigarette.
But me, I hand-roll pipe tobacco, so if I lay my cigarette down for a bit, I don't lose it, just relight the same cigarette - lot less wastage (and money). I also am not inhaling those fire-stimulating chemicals that are in commercial cigarettes. Been smoking hand-rolled since 1969, and still can draw a full breath, and blood oxygenation level of 99%.
I don't know what those fire-stimulating chemicals are, probably a trade secret, but I 'm going to bet they cause cancer and emphysema.
