KYIV. April 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) - Energoatom, the Ukrainian state nuclear power plant operator, has changed the name of the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant (formerly called Yuzhnoukrainska NPP in Ukrainian) into Pivdennoukrainska NPP, and the relevant decree has been signed, the company said.
"The South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant is now called Pivdennoukrainska! Energoatom chief Petro Kotin has signed a decree on renaming it 'with the purpose of bringing the name of the South Ukraine NPP into line with the official language standards and Ukrainian spelling rules'," Energoatom said in a statement on its Telegram channel on Wednesday.
The plant's abbreviation is now PNPP.
"The name of the plant's satellite town Yuzhnoukrainsk has not been changed so far, but this is just a matter of time and longer procedures," it said.
