SLIDELL, La. (BRPROUD) โ€“ The Slidell Police Department responded to a squirrelly situation on Tuesday.

 

The situation was not funny though as the call involved an elderly man being attacked by a squirrel.

 

Yes, you heard that correctly.

 

Birmingham looking to partner with state to turn interstate lights back on

โ€œThe caller stated that โ€˜a 78-year-old elderly man was actively being attacked by a squirrel, who was eating his hand. The man was attempting to choke the squirrel, but was unable to obtain a good grip,'โ€ according to the Slidell Police Department.

 

Upon arrival, first responders attempted to intervene after seeing the โ€œvicious squirrelโ€ and 78-year-old man still fighting.

 

The squirrel was separated from the man and later died from injuries sustained in the attack.

 

The 78-year-old man suffered what are being called โ€˜significantโ€™ injuries.

 

The expectation is that the elderly man should be able to recover from his injuries.

 

So how did this attack unfold on Tuesday?

 

SPD says, โ€œthe man was walking around outside of his home, when the squirrel came from the direction of his roof and attacked him.

 

So far as police can tell, the attack was unprovoked in this instance.

 

Believe it or not, this is not the first squirrel attack in Slidell this year.

 

The first reported squirrel attack took place during a Mardi Gras parade in February.

The transactions concluded withย China Molybdenum owning 80 percent of the mineย โ€”ย a classic tale of theย elites benefiting from the United Statesโ€™ managed decline.

 

Hunterโ€™s company reportedly obtained a ten percent share in the mine, which he sold to China Molybdenum from a Washington company named Skaneateles โ€” which he also owns a stake in.

 

Skaneateles reportedly stillย ownsย a stake in BHR, though theย Timesย reported Hunterย โ€œno longer holds any interest, directly or indirectly, in either BHR or Skaneateles,โ€ according to Hunterโ€™s lawyer Chris Clark.

 

It is unknown how much Hunter profited from using his network of connections while his father was vice president. Emails from Hunterโ€™s laptop indicate โ€œhe was told on multiple occasions by his business partner Eric Schwerin that he could expect to receive significant payments from BHR beginning in 2019,โ€ the Daily Callerย reportedย in May.

 

The complex financial maneuvers haveย allegedly caught the eye of the FBI. In December of 2020, CNNย announcedย the FBI had been investigating Hunter and his associates since 2018 for violating โ€œtax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China, according to two people briefed on the probe.โ€

 

The probe is reportedly still ongoing.

 

Nevertheless, Hunterโ€™s business dealings have likely come at the expense of the United States. Instead of working to keep the United States in control of mines and natural resources across the globe, Hunter presumably divested the United States of energy resources by peddling his government connections.

On a Sunday night just weeks before the 2016 presidential election, top Democratic lawyer Michael Sussmann allegedly texted his old friend, the FBIโ€™s then-general counsel James Baker, to say that he urgently needed to convey โ€œsensitiveโ€ information to the Bureau โ€” โ€œnot on behalf of a client or company,โ€ but just because he was a good citizen who wanted to help the government.

The information, it turns out, was sculpted to portray Donald Trump, then the Republican nominee for president, as if he were in cahoots with the Kremlin. I say โ€œsculptedโ€ advisedly. In reality, according to the false-statements indictment against him, Sussmann was actually representing two clients: Rodney Joffe, an information technology expert, and the Democratic campaign of Trumpโ€™s opponent, Hillary Clinton.

Joffe, to whom the Sussmann indictment refers as โ€œTech Executive-1โ€ and describes as angling for a job in the anticipated Clinton administration, was then working with a team of IT pros to curate records of internet communications. His objective, according to the indictment, was to project the appearance of a communications back-channel between Trump Tower in New York City and Alfa Bank, an important Russian financial institution with ties to Vladimir Putinโ€™s regime. The Clinton campaign reportedly wanted to depict the allegation as so serious that the FBI was investigating it. Sussmann, the Washington insider who was billing his time on the Trump/Russia matter to the Clinton campaign, was the perfect messenger to get the FBIโ€™s attention.

The existence of the critical text message was revealed on Monday by prosecutor John Durham, the Justice Department special counsel who is investigating the origins of โ€œRussiagateโ€ โ€” as the FBIโ€™s probe of former President Trumpโ€™s supposed collusion with Russia is popularly known. Russiagate appears to have been ignited by bogus opposition research manufactured by the Clinton campaign, whose operatives hyped it to media outlets and government officials.

Last September, Durham indicted Sussmann, alleging that he made false statements to investigators. Specifically, Sussmann โ€” who has denied the charge and pleaded not guilty โ€” is alleged to have claimed that he was not acting on behalf of any client when he delivered to the FBI computer data files and an analytical โ€œwhite paper,โ€ which were said to implicate Trump.

The first observation to make about the startling text message revelation weโ€™re just learning about is that it also must have been unknown to prosecutors until recently. There is no mention in the indictment of Sussmannโ€™s texting Baker on Sept. 18, 2016, to set up the meeting, which occurred at the FBIโ€™s Washington headquarters the following day. That would seem unfathomable if Durham had access to the text when drafting the charges.

According to prosecutors, the text, sent at 7:24 p.m., states: โ€œJim โ€” itโ€™s Michael Sussmann. I have something time-sensitive (and sensitive) I need to discuss. Do you have availability for a short meeting tomorrow? Iโ€™m coming on my own โ€” not on behalf of a client or company โ€” want to help the Bureau. Thanks.โ€

Aman believed to have worked with federal authorities to investigate the activities of Deutsche Bank and its ties with former President Donald Trump was found dead on an El Sereno high school's campus Monday.

 

A cleaning crew found the body of Valentin Broeksmit, 45, self-described as a "comically terrible spy," around 6:40 a.m Monday morning. He was declared dead at about 7:05 a.m. on the Woodrow Wilson High school campus off on the 4500 block of Multnomah Street according to the Los Angeles County Coroner. Officials have yet to release a cause of death pending an autopsy.

 

School police said that they had no video that shows him coming onto campus and are unsure how long he'd been on the campus.

 

Broeksmit was last seen driving a red Mini Cooper on April 6, 2021, in Griffith Park on Riverside Drive. Although Broeksmit had gone missing his Twitter account remained active. Freinds and journalists claimed to stay in contact with him during his disappearance, with Forensic News investigative journalist Scott Stedman tweeting that he last spoke with Broeksmit in January.

 

Stedman wrote that Broeksmit had given him "Deutsche Bank documents that highlighted the bank's deep Russia connections."

 

"It is very sad," he added. "I don't suspect foul play. Val struggled with drugs on and off. Waiting on further info."

 

New York Times reporter David Enrich, who said that Broeksmit helped the FBI in its probe into the financial institution, also wrote that Broeksmit struggled with drug abuse and would often conjure "far-fetched theories" while bending the truth.

 

Stedman said that Broeksmit's father had committed suicide in 2014 which haunted the 45-year-old.

 

"To see his life end so short is incredibly depressing," Stedman wrote.

 

Broeksmit, who was also subpoenaed by the House Intelligence Committee during its probe into Trump and the bank, reportedly offered hundreds of documents to federal investigators and journalists who were looking for ties between Deutsche Bank and Trump. The documents were left behind by his stepfather William, who was an executive for the bank, died.

 

"This is terrible news," Enrich tweeted. "Val was a longtime source of mine and the main character in my book. We had a complicated relationship, but this is just devastating to hear."

Los Angeles Police Department detectives are searching for 45-year-old Valentin Broeksmit, who was last seen on April 6 in Griffith Park.

 

Broeksmitโ€™s girlfriend, Marie Peter-Toltz, told police he dropped her off at approximately 4 p.m. near the tennis courts in the 4600 block of Crystal Springs Drive in Griffith Park, and he did not return as expected. She reported him missing the next day, police said.

 

โ€œThis guy was supposed to pick her up and never showed up,โ€ said Det. M. Beall, with the LAPDโ€™s Missing Persons Unit. โ€œThe girlfriend found his car the next morning in a different part of the city and called police. The car is now in police impound.โ€

 

Beall declined to say where the car, a red 2020 Mini Cooper, was found. She said the couple lives near downtown Los Angeles. Broeksmit was last seen driving away from Griffith Park in the Mini Cooper.

 

Beall said Peter-Toltz and Broeksmitโ€™s family are concerned about his whereabouts, as Broeksmit has never previously disappeared or unexpectedly broken contact. The detective said Peter-Toltz told them there had been no fighting in the relationship and there were no signs he planned to harm himself. Investigators hope a witness or someone with knowledge about Broeksmitโ€™s disappearance will come forward.

A year ago, the trail of Valentin "Val" Broeksmit (46) was lost somewhere in Los Angeles. His friends launched a desperate search call on social media. Since April 6, 2021, he was officially considered missing. But his Twitter account was still active until a few days ago.

 

Now there is the sad certainty: Val Broeksmit is dead. His body was found on the grounds of a school in the greater Los Angeles area, ABC10News San Diego reports. The station refers to an official communication from the Los Angeles Forensic Medicine.

 

Why Broeksmit was on the school grounds is still completely unclear. However, the Washington Examiner cites a source on the possible reasons. Accordingly, Broekmann is said to have increasingly taken refuge in conspiracy narratives and the use of hard drugs.

 

As the newspaper further reported, After the suicide of his father, an important manager at Deutsche Bank in the USA, Val obtained his business documents, e-mails and passwords in 2014 and apparently set in motion one of the biggest financial scandals of recent years.

 

Because Val acted as a whistleblower, probably passed on the documents to journalists and criminal investigation authorities. Among other things, deutsche Bank's dirty dealings with former US President Donald Trump (75) and Putin's Russia could be proven.

 

In the wake of the scandal, Deutsche Bank paid a record settlement of 600 million US dollars (equivalent to about 565 million euros) to the British and American financial regulators.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) โ€” A box truck collided with a tractor-trailer on I-64 this morning โ€” causing it to overturn and spill corn all over the roadway.

 

The Virginia Department of Transportation Culpeper District is reporting the left lane in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 at mile-marker 124 is back open following the crash.

 

Shortly before 8:30 a.m., VDOT crews responded to the scene to help clear the roadway. Backups are still reported as far back as four miles from the crash.

 

The on-ramp at mile-marker 124 from U.S. 250 onto I-64 will continue to stay closed for clean-up and drivers should avoid the area if possible.

Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, reportedly exchanged dozens of text messages with former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows urging him to overturn the 2020 election in the weeks after the results, The Washington Post reported.

 

The 29 messages were among thousands that Meadows reported to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection at the US Capitol, according to the Post.

 

Hereโ€™s a look at some of the messages, as published by the Post, CBS News, and The New York Times.

Nov. 5, two days after the 2020 election

Thomas sent a link to a YouTube video that referenced Steve Pieczenik. Pieczenik is a former State Department official who has pushed conspiracy theories. The Post said the video is no

longer available on YouTube.

 

Thomas: โ€œI hope this is true; never heard anything like this before, or even a hint of it. Possible???โ€

 

โ€œWatermarked ballots in over 12 states have been part of a huge Trump & military white hat sting operation in 12 key battleground states.โ€

 

โ€œBiden crime family & ballot fraud co-conspirators (elected officials, bureaucrats, social media censorship mongers, fake stream media reporters, etc) are being arrested & detained for ballot fraud right now & over coming days, & will be living in barges off GITMO to face military tribunals for sedition.โ€ The Post reported that this passage had circulated on right-wing websites.

 

The Post reported that the messages received by the House committee donโ€™t include a response from Meadows.

Nov. 6

 

Thomas: โ€œDo not concede. It takes time for the army who is gathering for his back.โ€

 

The Post said it is unclear if Meadows responded.

 

On Nov. 7, news organizations declared President Biden the winner.

Nov. 10

 

Thomas: โ€œMark, I wanted to text you and tell you for days you are in my prayers!!โ€

โ€œHelp This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!โ€ฆYou are the leader, with him, who is standing for Americaโ€™s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left

Thomas, nine minutes after Meadowsโ€™ message: โ€œTearing up and praying for you guys!!!!! So proud to know you!!โ€

 

Later that night: Thomas: โ€œVan Jones spins interestingly, but shows us the balls being juggled too.โ€

 

โ€œHouse and Senate guys are pathetic tooโ€ฆ only 4 GOP House members seen out in street rallies with grassrootsโ€ฆ Gohmert, Jordan, Gosar, and Roy.โ€

 

Later on Nov. 10

 

Thomas: โ€œWhere the heck are all those who benefited by Presidents coattails?!!!โ€

 

Thomas also told Meadows to watch a YouTube video about the power of never conceding, the Post reported.

Nov. 13

Thomas: โ€œJust forwarded to yr gmail an email I sent Jared this am. Sidney Powell & improved

coordination now will help the cavalry come and Fraud exposed and America saved.โ€

 

The messages provided to the House committee do not show a response by Meadows, the Post said.

Thomas sent Meadows material she said was from Connie Hair, chief of staff to Republican Representative Louie Gohmert of Texas. The Post said it was unclear if Thomas was passing on a message from Hair or providing Hairโ€™s perspective as guidance. The text appeared to quote Hairโ€™s belief that โ€œthe most important thing you can realize right now is that there are no rules in war,โ€ according to the Post.

Nov. 19

On January 17, 2018, Goldstein sent another coded message to Adler asking him, โ€œ[w]hen can you come [i]n for a teffilin wrap? Iโ€™m ready for you.โ€ Goldstein delivered the gold to Adler the next day. Adler nonetheless claimed on his 2017 tax returns that he had donated over $1 million to charity, fraudulently reducing his 2017 tax liability by approximately $447,000.

Adler and Goldstein took additional steps to conceal their scheme from authorities. On or about October 18, 2018, Goldstein told Adler that he was under investigation by the IRS and that he had been the subject of an undercover operation relating to tax evasion. Goldstein asked for Adlerโ€™s help to prove, falsely, that Goldstein, and not Adler, was in possession of the gold coins purchased with Adlerโ€™s purported donation. In the early hours of October 19, 2018, Adler arrived at Goldsteinโ€™s residence and returned the gold coins.

n 2004, American computer programmer Terry Davis received instructions from God. His mission was to build a new computer operating system to serve as the third temple of Jerusalem. God told Terry to build it 640 pixels by 480 pixels by 16 colors, with no networking and no separation between kernel and processes. It was a strange command, but Terry obeyed and set to work.

 

By 2013, TempleOS was mature and was attaining legendary status among programmers and internet lurkers. Few had ever done anything like it: a complete operating system built from the ground up by one man, complete with games, apps, text editor, command line, windowing system, and an oracle system for listening to God, using random numbers for a sort of augury.

 

TempleOS had interesting new ideas about how different kinds of data like text, images, and 3D models could be freely mixed at a low level, and how the programming environment mixed shell commands and programs, but it was a very limited system overall. It did not end up being a practical system, nor even all that promising for future development. But it struck a nerve, because, despite its impracticality, it had two extremely important ideas:

 

Firstly, the existence of TempleOS asserted the possibility of new operating systems. Everyone implicitly assumed that it was too big a task for an inspired hobbyist to undertake. We all assumed that the operating systems of the future would have to be built by armies of corporate software engineers. Terry Davis proved all that wrong. TempleOS served as sort of a grand artistic manifesto, shocking us out of our preconceptions and opening up a whole new space of possibility.

 

Secondly, TempleOS asserted that computing is not separable from religion. For Terry, the computer was a space of spiritual contemplation, a temple. The computer programmer was not a craftsman or a merchant. They were a priest, a prophet, and a monk. For Terry Davis, computing was a sacred activity. The computer was a device for structuring the spirit, consulting with and making offerings to God, and living as God instructed.

 

The first idea has been discussed and explored in the computing press for a decade now. Many have been inspired. The second has slipped through unnoticed.

 

Terry was born to a good family, in which he was raised as well as anyone can be in America, and got his masterโ€™s degree in electrical engineering in 1994. But by 1996, he was struggling with bouts of mania and schizophrenia. He struggled to maintain his grip on reality, follow social and political norms, and keep his life in order. When he received his divine task, it gave him stability through the period of his labor, but when he was finished, he lost direction. In one of his later streamed video messages, he spoke of this: โ€œI made Godโ€™s temple and now Iโ€™m waiting for something to happen.โ€

 

In 2018, Terry had become homeless, refusing many of the offerings of his disciples. His last video message to the world, on August 11th, 2018, was about how he was learning to purify himself and respect the purity of the world around him. He concluded with a frank summary of who he had become now that he had finished his work: โ€œmaybe [now] Iโ€™m just a bizarre little person who walks back and forth.โ€

On Thursday, Trump allowed Attorney General William P. Barr to declassify information he finds during his review of what the White House called โ€œsurveillance activities during the 2016 Presidential election.โ€

 

Trump has long complained that the U.S. government engaged in illegal โ€œspyingโ€ on his campaign, alleging without evidence that his phones were tapped and that American officials conspired with British counterparts in an effort to undermine his bid for the White House.

They went on to report, under the subject line โ€œHunterโ€™s bills,โ€ Dodge reached out to book-keeper Linda Shapero, Biden aide Richard Ruffner, and Hunter to discuss an arrangement the former vice president had made to cover hundreds of thousands of bills for his son.

 

โ€œHello VP team,โ€ the email acquired by Daily Mail began. โ€œI spoke with Hunter today regarding his bills. It is my understanding that Huntโ€™s dad will cover these bills in the short-term as Hunter transitions in his career. I have a list of the current bills of which I am aware. I have attached the list belowโ€ฆ.โ€

 

The attached list totaled $737,130.61 in bills, including one for $28,382 listed as โ€œFaegre Baker Daniels: BHR Restructuring,โ€ due ASAP. BHR or Bohai Harvest RST is the private equity firm that as of March 2022, Hunter Biden still appeared to be a part-owner of through the LLC Skaneateles.

 

Hunterโ€™s lawyer George Mesires, who would not comment on the younger Bidenโ€™s continued connection to the Chinese firm, is a partner with Faegre Baker Daniels, now known as Faegre Drinker.

'Highly contagious' disease kills dozens of horses at Colorado facility

CAร‘ON CITY, Colo. โ€” An "unknown yet highly contagious and sometimes fatal disease" has killed dozens of horses at a wild horse facility in Caรฑon City.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said 67 wild horses have died since the outbreak began Saturday. Ten horses died on Monday.

The wild horse facility in Caรฑon City, about 115 miles south of Denver, has been voluntarily quarantined while local, state and federal officials determine the exact cause of death of the horses.

โ€œItโ€™s upsetting to BLM and to employees," said BLM spokesperson Steven Hall. "Itโ€™s taking a great toll on them. This isnโ€™t where anybody wants to be in terms of managing wild horses.โ€

Carol Walker, a wild horse advocate, was concerned to hear about the deaths of dozens of horses. She adopted a young horse named Helios from the facility last fall.

"I know and care about those horses, and I donโ€™t want to see them die," Walker said."

Walker cares for three wild horses on her property in Longmont. She adopted them after they were removed during wild horse roundups like the one the BLM conducted last fall in the Sand Wash Basin.

โ€œ[Wild horses] shouldnโ€™t be pushed off of our public lands because of ranching interests," Walker said. "They should be allowed to live out their lives wild and free.โ€

Hall acknowledged there will always be debate and discussion about gathering and removing wild horses from public lands.

"I think right now our focus is in trying to determine what is going on with the horses in Canon City, find a way to prevent it from happening again and do what we can to keep as many horses healthy as we can," Hall said.

Hall told 9NEWS that a private veterinarian, federal veterinarian and experts from Colorado State University and the University of California, Davis were helping investigate and manage the outbreak at the Caรฑon City facility.

โ€œWe definitely can understand the disappointment, the sadness and in some cases the anger from people out there over having an outbreak like this at a wild horse facility," Hall said.

The Caรฑon City wild horse facility is designed to hold 2,950 wild horses, Hall said. There are currently 2,550 horses at the facility.

โ€œMost of the horses in the facility are horses that were gathered in Colorado, and the horses that are being most directly affected by this outbreak are from an area called West Douglas, and they were part of a gather last fall," Hall said.

Horses at the facility have been separated based on their symptoms.

โ€œWeโ€™re doing everything that we can from a veterinary standpoint," Hall said. [We're doing] what we can to isolate the horses and weโ€™ve voluntarily quarantined the entire facility.โ€

Robert Hunter Biden

Robert Hunter Biden (born February 4, 1970) is an American lobbyist and lawyer who is the second son of the 46th President of the United States and former U.S. vice president Joe Biden. He co-founded Rosemont Seneca Partners, an international consulting firm.

In the aftermath of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution, Mykola Zlochevsky faced a money laundering investigation,[21][22] and his company Burisma Holdings, the largest natural gas producer in Ukraine,[2] assembled a "high-profile international board" in response.[23][22] Chris Heinz, John Kerry's stepson, opposed his partners Devon Archer and Hunter Biden joining the board in 2014 due to the reputational risk.[22] Among those who joined the board of directors in April 2014 were Biden, Archer and former Polish president Aleksander Kwasniewski.[24] Biden served on the board of Burisma until his term expired in April 2019,[25] receiving compensation of up to $50,000 per month in some months.[11][26][27] Because Vice President Biden played a major role in U.S. policy towards Ukraine, some Ukrainian anti-corruption advocates[3][28] and Obama administration officials expressed concern that Hunter Biden's having joined the board could create the appearance of a conflict of interest and undermine Vice President Biden's anti-corruption work in Ukraine.[2][22] While serving as vice president, Joe Biden joined other Western leaders in encouraging the government of Ukraine to fire the country's top prosecutor, Viktor Shokin,[1][29] who was widely criticized for blocking corruption investigations.[30][31] The Ukrainian parliament voted to remove Shokin in March 2016.[32][33]

 

In 2019, President Donald Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, claimed that Vice President Biden had actually sought the dismissal of Shokin in order to protect his son and Burisma Holdings,[34][3] however, there is no evidence that this was what happened.[1] There has also been no evidence produced of wrongdoing done by Hunter Biden in Ukraine.[35] The Ukrainian anti-corruption investigation agency stated in September 2019 that their investigation of Burisma was restricted solely to the period of 2010 to 2012, before Hunter Biden joined Burisma in 2014.[36] Shokin in May 2019 claimed that he was fired because he was actively investigating Burisma,[37] but U.S. and Ukrainian officials have stated that the investigation into Burisma was dormant at the time of Shokin's dismissal.[22][37][38] Ukrainian sources have maintained that Shokin was fired for failing to address corruption, including within his office.[28][39]
