Agreed, but I don't blame them as they want to believe and receive. Here is my discourse regarding this:
The disciples asked Jesus, how will we know when the kingdom comes; what will be the signs?
Jesus said this wicked evil generation they look for a sign but no sign will be given. This is one of those gem parables of truth to those that have ears. Evil says show me a sign God exists, Good looks for and takes everything as a sign. There will never be sufficient signs for evil they will always mock.
The rare few will not only make the connection but create new paths at will.
