VICE posts 'do it yourself' abortion guide including 'abortion pills' made with ingredients used to treat horses

 

After many took to Twitter to condemn the publication for engaging in potentially dangerous home abortions, VICE instead chose to double down on the medically unsound advice.

 

Left-wing news outlet, VICE posted a “do it yourself” abortion guide on Tuesday, with details on creating DIY “abortion pills” made with ingredients used to treat horses with stomach ulcers.

 

VICE’s “Motherboard” account wrote on Twitter, “Misoprostol is relatively easy to acquire from veterinary sources, since in addition to medically inducing abortions, it's also used to treat ulcers in horses,” with a link to the article.

 

The article comes following the leaked documents that the Supreme Court may overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade decision of the Supreme Court in 1973 that protects a woman’s choice to have an abortion without government restriction.

 

The article discusses the drug misoprostol, an NSAID medication that can be used to induce abortions.

 

VICE wrote in the article, “This is reminiscent of ivermectin, which is used to control parasites in horses but also became a favored—but ineffective—COVID treatment among conspiracy theorists. Ivermectin’s use in horses made it easier for humans to get without a prescription,” seemingly unaware of the comparisons to Ivermectin, which was vilified on social media after questions about its efficacy were raised by some medical doctors.

 

The mainstream media blasted popular podcast host Joe Rogan for taking ivermectin after being diagnosed with COVID-19, as prescribed by his doctor.

#RuthSentUs: Red Cloak National Protest Against Amy Coney Barrett Confirmation

“It is my most fervent wish that I not be replaced until a new president is installed.” These were the last words of the late Associate Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

 

Despite her wish, Republican Senators are breaking all the rules to rush through confirmation of Trump’s Supreme Court nomination of Amy Coney Barrett—the polar opposite of the women’s rights icon RBG.

 

On Sunday, Oct. 25, activists walked silently in black and red robes in over 100 cities and towns across the nation to protest the confirmation of Barrett to the Supreme Court.

 

Those in black robes with white laced collars dressed as Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Those in red robes with white bonnets were dressed as handmaids from Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel and series “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

 

They protested as handmaidens to object to the actions of Trump and Senate Republicans to rollback women’s rights through their anti-abortion, anti-contraception, anti-woman policies and court appointments.

 

“You might have someone walk up who’s been a victim of sexual assault. You might have someone who’s had an abortion. You might have someone walk up who’s simply been fighting for equal pay,” said Jessie Steigerwald, founding member of the Boston Red Cloaks and lead organizer of the protest in that city. “Just seeing the outfit … suddenly they feel understood. They feel seen. They feel heard.”

 

From Boston to Miami, Los Angeles to Minneapolis, protesters organized silent, solemn and powerful processions, heads bowed, along city streets and in front of state capitols.

 

In Boston, the statute of liberty joined the procession, and some suffragists. Signs read, “Ruth Sent Us,” “A Woman’s Place is in the Resistance,” “More Than A Womb,” “Under His Eye America Will Fall,” “Blessed Be the Fight.” Others said, “Make Atwood and Orwell Fiction Again,” and “Don’t Confirm Before the Next Term.”

 

Why Protest?

 

The Red Cloak National Protest had a three-fold purpose:

 

To publicly protest the nomination, confirmation, and appointment of any Supreme Court Justice by the 45th president of the United States.

To affirm equal rights for women, especially body autonomy.

To honor the memory of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The organizing group’s leadership remains concealed on its website, even though it uses a .us URL. Websites with a .us URL are unusual, and according to Wired in 2005, new registrants could not include privacy protection in .us domain name purchases. RuthSent.us, however, redacted information related to its owners’ purchase. Another online domain tool, “WHOIS,” revealed the name Sam Spiegel as its registrant along with a P.O. box.

 

According to 2018 filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Spiegel is named as treasurer of the political action committee, Unseat. Spiegel’s name is used for the Unseat PAC’s Twitter page, amplifying videos from MeidasTouch.com going after conservative justices for their potential reversal of the decision in Roe v. Wade. Unseat’s pinned post is an attack on Justice Kavanaugh claiming without evidence that his seat on the high bench was purchased. The group hasn’t filed with the FEC for years.

 

The FEC statement for the Unseat PAC lists Spiegel with the same P. O. box that the domain tool yielded for RuthSent.us. The statement also revealed another name, Vara Ramakrishnan, whose apparent Facebook page includes references to #StrikeForChoice and links to RefuseFascism.org. The “Ruth Sent Us” website links to Strike For Choice, which shows “connections to groups including Black Lives Matter, Code Pink, Women’s March SF, Kavanaugh Off Our Court, and Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights,” as Judicial Network’s Carrie Severino noted.

 

Ramakrishnan’s name is also associated with another group called “Vigil for Democracy,” an LLC registered in Arizona in October, according to Bizapedia, an online company search engine. Vigil for Democracy is marked as a sponsor of the map posted on RuthSent.us that outlines where justices might live.

 

Another name associated with Vigil for Democracy is Snowden Bishop, a left-wing radio host. Bishop’s LinkedIn page identifies her as a “principal” of Vigil for Democracy and another group called “Just Resisting.” Just Resisting’s Twitter page is run by the name “Justin Russell,” who is listed alongside Bishop as an administrator of Vigil for Democracy’s fundraising page on Open Collective.

 

However, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has explicitly threatened both Kavanaugh and Justice Neil Gorsuch. At a protest in 2020 on the steps of the Supreme Court, which this week is under siege by left-wing activists and has anti-riot fencing protecting it, Schumer said, “I want to tell you Gorsuch, I want to tell you Kavanaugh, you have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

 

The threat against these justices if they didn’t rule the way Schumer preferred received pushback from other Democrats and Chief Justice John Roberts.
