Sauce: I was/am a Master Mason (emitted in 2018 or 19, but they say "once a Mason, always a Mason", so I'm not sure if I'm even technically considered one or not… Never once paid a due.)
They were mostly nerds, man… Some cool older dudes. A few faggots. A few Muzzies. Surely some crypto-Jews, also. Reminded me of what it might be like, if I ever went to a "Magic The Gathering" or "D&D" party. I recall the older guys not being fans of the Catholic Church across the way… This was in Buffalo, NY, so that is very understandable. Over 90 pedophile priests were outed there, rather recently.
On "degree nights", nights that some dudes are earning some degree, whether it be their 3rd, 9th, 31st, or whatever). Basically, you are re-enacting 'historical' events and happenings, with others.
They call it a "system of morality, veiled in allegory, and illustrated by symbols".
So, like martial arts repetition, I gather that the repetitive reenactment of these plays, instills in one, a sense of order, proper language usage, becoming accustomed to thinking before speaking, and also surprising yourself when you realize you can memorize entire books/chapters/passages verbatim, if you put your mind to it. That was really the one big benefit I felt I got out of it. The rest, felt like a "slow boat to China" kind of grift. Like in the movie, "The Master". I'm sure their is much value to what is MEANT to be taught and passed down, however, I did not feel the 'arts' were properly understood by hardly any Masons, and it was kind of a shit-show, tbh.
