Ben & Jerry’s Puts Up Billboards Across Multiple States Supporting ‘Trans’ Kids

Ben & Jerry’s and the National Center for Transgender Equality have collaborated on a multi-state billboard campaign to support “transgender” children.

The billboards are targeting four states: Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Virginia — all of which have passed legislation to protect girls sports or try to prevent gender change treatments and surgeries for minors.

“In the wake of a recent spate of hateful, anti-trans legislation in states across the nation, Ben & Jerry’s has launched a billboard campaign to stand in solidarity with trans youth and their families who have been targeted by the latest wave of attempted new laws,” Ben & Jerry’s said in a press release obtained by The Gateway Pundit.

The message on the billboards, placed in each state’s capital, reads “We Stand with Trans Youth and Those Who Love Them” and “trans rights are human rights.”

“At a time when many politicians are criminalizing access to health care for trans youth — in addition to other efforts to marginalize them — we felt it important to make a public stand in support for them and their friends and families. We see them, we hear them, we stand with them,” said Maroni Minter, US Activism Manager for Ben & Jerry’s. “After years and years of progress in the LGBTQ+ and trans community, this wave of regressive legislation is trying to take us backwards not forward. In the face of this reality, it is more important than ever that we not remain silent.”

The press release added that “on top of the four states included in the campaign, 31 other states have seen legislative activity that seeks to marginalize the transgender community, most specifically designed to affect trans youth. Additionally, Ben & Jerry’s will also be placing a newspaper ad in their home state of Vermont. The state has been dealing with its own spate of anti-LGBTQ+ activity, including the recent murder of a trans woman, vandalism of a local LGBTQ+ community center, and hateful messages targeting local school staff for hosting workshops about gender equity.”

The ice cream company is notorious for their extreme far left activism.

White House Postpones Joe Biden’s Trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia – “Reason for Delay Wasn’t Immediately Clear”

Joe Biden’s handlers postponed his trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia on Friday.

Biden was expected to visit the two countries to push the insane Iranian nuclear deal that both nations oppose.

No reason was given for the delate.

President Joe Biden’s planned visits to Saudi Arabia and Israel later this month have been postponed until July, several officials told NBC News on Friday.

The White House is now planning a broader trip to the Middle East next month, sources said.

“We are working on a trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia for a GCC+3 Summit,” a senior administration official told NBC News. “We are working to confirm dates. When we have something to announce, we will.”

A foreign diplomat and two U.S. officials said the Saudi stop will no longer take place in late June, and two U.S. officials said the trip to Israel was also being pushed back. Both visits had been expected to be tacked on to Biden’s previously scheduled trip to Germany and Spain this month.

The reason for the delay wasn’t immediately clear. The foreign diplomat and two officials said they learned of the postponed travel plans on Friday. The U.S. officials added that the dates remained in flux and could change again.

The Barry County Sheriff is also suing MI Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s henchman, Jonathan Brater.

Jonathan Brater is Michigan’s Director of Elections, a member of the executive branch of state government, and an employee of the state. As director of elections, Mr. Brater is “vested with the powers and shall perform the duties of the secretary of state under his or her supervision, with respect to the supervision and administration of the election laws.”

Defendant Brater has no law enforcement or executive authority to encroach upon law enforcement functions of a constitutional sheriff.

US general wants fighter jets sent to Ukraine

The commanding general of the California National Guard has called on Washington to provide Kiev with Soviet-designed MiG warplanes

The commanding general of the California National Guard has suggested that the US government and officials in other Western nations should consider providing Ukraine with combat aircraft – something Kiev has long been asking for.

Major General David Baldwin told American media outlet Politico on Friday that Soviet-designed jets, which Ukrainian pilots are familiar with, are the best choice in the short term.

“MiGs are the best immediate solution to support the Ukrainians, but US or Western fighters are options that should be explored as soon as possible,” Baldwin said.

On Thursday, the general also revealed to journalists that US military officials were helping their Ukrainian colleagues pen requests to Western nations for fighter jets.

One scheme, which would have entailed NATO member state Poland handing over its MiGs to Ukraine, with the US replacing the outgoing aircraft with F-16s, fell through back in March. Nevertheless, General Baldwin is still hopeful that the Ukrainian Air Force will eventually receive this type of aircraft, Politico reported.

US Navy Super Hornet Crashes In Southern California

A US Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet crashed Friday in the Southern California desert, killing the pilot, according to a government press release.

The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. PST in the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County.

"The pilot is confirmed deceased," read the statement from the US Navy.

"The identity of the pilot will not be released until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified. Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake Federal Firefighters and Naval Security Forces are on site. No civilians were harmed in this incident," the statement continued.

A spokesperson for the service told USNI News there were no other aircraft involved in the crash. An investigation has been launched into what led to the Super Hornet's crash.

Israel Uses US Weapons To Blow Up US Humanitarian Projects in Gaza

In its May 2021 war with Gaza militants, Israel used American weapons to destroy U.S. humanitarian projects and damage an American-owned Coca-Cola bottling plant, according to a report by The Intercept.

Damaged or destroyed facilities included:

Hospitals, water treatment and sanitation facilities funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)

A dozen factories built with USAID money

Dozens of schools operated by the U.S. State Department-backed United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)

More than a hundred UNRWA facilities were struck, causing more than a million dollars in damage.

The impact is far more than financial. As The Intercept's Daniel Boguslaw elaborates:

In Khan Yunis, Rafa, and Beit Lahia, wastewater treatment infrastructure and water reservoirs funded by USAID, which the U.S. government spent millions to construct, were destroyed by aerial attacks that affected more than 300,000 civilians. Ninety-seven percent of the water in Gaza is contaminated, resulting in a widespread public health crisis, rendered even worse by the destruction of U.S.-funded water infrastructure.

The May 2021 war took a steep toll on Gaza, with more than 240 Palestinians killed and nearly 2,000 wounded. Four thousand rocket attacks from Gaza on Israel killed 12.

Israel's periodic devastation of Gaza is often characterized as "mowing the grass." Yoav Galant, a former Israeli military commander, embraced the philosophy in a radio interview: “This sort of maintenance needs to be carried out from time to time, perhaps even more often.”

Though Galant and others would suggest such "mowing" is focused on Palestinian military power, Israel's routine destruction of hospitals, water treatment facilities and other civilian infrastructure suggests Israel strives to keep Gaza in a state of perpetual economic devastation.

Beijing Calls on US to Stop Trade Talks With Taiwan

The US and Taiwan announced a new trade initiative aimed at boosting ties

On Thursday, China called on the US to stop trade talks with Taiwan after Washington and Taipei announced a new initiative aimed at increasing economic cooperation.

The US and Taiwan announced the initiative on Wednesday, which marked the formal start of trade negotiations. Taiwan’s trade representative, John Deng, will head to Washington next month for the talks.

Deng said the initiative cover 11 areas, including “trade facilitation, regulatory practices, agriculture, anti-corruption, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, digital trade, labor rights, the environment, standards, state-owned enterprises, and non-market practices and policies.”

The trade talks are the latest example of the US taking steps to boost informal relations with Taiwan. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said the US should “stop negotiating agreements with implications of sovereignty and of official nature, and refrain from sending any wrong signal to the ‘Taiwan independence’ separatist forces.”

Zhao also called on the US to stop selling weapons to Taiwan in response to comments from Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin. The Pentagon chief said the US “will make available to Taiwan defense articles and services necessary to enable it to maintain a sufficient self-defense capability commensurate with the Chinese threat.”

Since severing diplomatic relations with Taipei in 1979, the US has sold arms to the island, but the US is looking for other ways to support Taiwan militarily. Earlier this week, Taiwanese President Tsai ing-Wen said that Washington is planning to increase “cooperation” between the US National Guard and the US military.

Former Judge Killed in ‘Targeted’ Attack Against Judicial System, Officials Say

A retired judge was shot and killed at his home in Wisconsin on Friday in what has been described by officials as a “targeted” attack against the judicial system.

John Roemer, a former circuit judge in Juneau County, is believed to be the victim of the murder that happened in New Lisbon at around 6:30 a.m. on June 3, according to reports. The 68-year-old man was found in a residence that a neighbor and public records said belonged to a retired county judge.

A second person, identified as a 56-year-old male and the alleged suspect, was discovered in the basement of the home with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul said during a news conference on Friday, also noting that a firearm was recovered from the scene.

Upon recovering the man, law enforcement started life-saving measures and the individual has been transported to a medical facility in critical condition.

Kaul, who refused to name the victim or the suspect, said the shooter had selected targets who were “part of the judicial system” and had other planned victims. The attorney general did not identify them.

“This incident appears to be a targeted act … and the suspect appears to have had other targets as well. It appears to be related to the judicial system,” Kaul said.

“At this point, we are not aware of any evidence indicating that there is any active danger to other individuals. Those who may have been other targets have been notified,” he said, adding that if the investigation finds additional threats against other individuals, authorities will notify those people.

Kaul stressed that officials are currently “limited in what information we can provide,” citing the ongoing investigation.

The judge’s death was also confirmed in a statement by State Sen. Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green), who represents Juneau County, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.

The Juneau County Sheriff’s Office received a call that two shots were fired at a home in New Lisbon at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Friday, according to the Division of Criminal Investigation. The caller had fled the home where the gunman had entered and made the call from another nearby home.

US Doctors Urged to Test for Monkeypox, CDC Says Risk to Public Low

CHICAGO—U.S. health officials on Friday urged doctors to test for monkeypox if they suspect cases, saying there may be community-level spread but that the overall public health risk remained low.

So far, there have been 25 cases of the disease in at least 11 states. Affected patients are isolating to help prevent spreading the virus, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials told reporters in a conference call.

The CDC said it was aware of 700 cases of monkeypox that have been reported globally outside of parts of Africa, where the disease is endemic. No deaths have been reported so far.

The agency is collaborating with global experts to learn more about how this outbreak began and how it is now spreading within the United States and elsewhere.

In a detailed report of 17 cases published in the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, most patients identified as men who have sex with men. In many of the cases the monkeypox rash started in the genital area, which could lead some doctors to diagnose it as a more common sexually transmitted infection such as herpes or syphilis.

Health officials believe community transmission is likely, which is why they want doctors to test patients if they have any reason to suspect monkeypox.

The CDC stressed that monkeypox is transmitted by close contact with someone who has the virus and to monkeypox sores.

“Anyone can get monkeypox and we are carefully monitoring for monkeypox that may be spreading in any population, including those who are not identifying as men who have sex with men,” Jennifer McQuiston, the CDC’s deputy director of the Division of High Consequence Pathogens and Pathology, told the briefing.

So far, the United States has run 120 tests for monkeypox. Officials said the government has the capacity to run 1,000 tests per day.

Currently, all U.S. patients are in recovery or have already recovered. Those who still have a rash are being asked to stay home until they are fully recovered, the CDC said.

A patient is considered recovered when all of the sores have scabbed over, the scabs fall off and healthy skin has emerged.

European Union Commission Declares ‘Future is Queer’

A Twitter account run by the European Commission has marked the start of Pride Month in June by declaring that the “future is queer” and promoting a new campaign.

The Twitter account “European Youth,” which stated that it is run by the European Commission, wrote on Wednesday, “No two people are the same, we are all unique. Each one of us is the result of our own values, dreams, ambitions and talents.”

“In this Pride, we want to assert our singularities because, when combined, they make us stronger. This month follow #TheFutureIsQueer. And be proud,” the account added, alongside a picture stating “the Future is Queer.”

The same post was made by The European Union programme for education, youth, training and sport Erasmus+, as well as the EU programme for the cultural and media sectors Creative Europe.

According to another Twitter post from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, a programme for doctoral education and postdoctoral training, the “Future is Queer” posts are related to a new campaign, though the exact details of the campaign remain unclear, beyond calling on Twitter users to follow the Future is Queer hashtag.

The campaign comes as countries across Europe and elsewhere celebrate June as Pride Month, with many flying rainbow Pride flags, including the U.S embassy to the Vatican, which stated it will fly the rainbow flag all month.

The U.S. embassy will fly the flag for the second year in a row and stated on Twitter, “The United States respects and promotes the equality and human dignity of all people including the LGBTQIA+ community.”

While some fly the traditional rainbow flag, others, such as the Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride, have greatly added to the rainbow flag, including colours meant to represent not only LGBT people but other marginalised groups. This year, Dublin Pride even went as far as adding the colours of the Ukrainian flag to their pride flag to show their support for the country.

Former U.S. Marine Sentenced for Smuggling Ten Tons of Cocaine per Month

A former U.S. marine who ran a drug-smuggling organization that worked with several Mexican drug cartels will now spend 16 years in prison. The former Marine conspired to smuggle at least 10 tons of cocaine into the US each month.

This week, 50-year-old Angel Dominguez Ramirez Jr., a former U.S. Marine, went before a U.S. District Court judge in San Diego who sentenced him to 16 years in prison for his role as the leader of a drug-smuggling group that trafficked tons of cocaine from South America into Mexico. Ten tons of drug shipments eventually made their way into the U.S. on a monthly basis. Dominguez had previously pleaded guilty to drug trafficking and money laundering charges last fall. Mexican authorities arrested him in Mexico and after two years in a Mexican prison, they extradited him to the U.S. in 2016.

The smuggling group worked with several Mexican drug cartels, including organizations that are at war with each other like the Sinaloa Cartel and Cartel Jalisco New Generation. Dominguez got into the drug business after being unable to find work after being medically discharged from the U.S. Marines following a car crash where his two daughters died. Court documents revealed that he spent six months in a hospital and was left with permanent damage from the crash.

According to federal prosecutors, Dominguez ran a drug organization called “El Seguimiento 39,” also known as “The Company.” The group would transport and supply drugs from South America to Mexico which would then make their way into the United States.

Dominguez built his organization through key alliances with most of Mexico’s drug cartels — including the Sinaloa Cartel, the Beltran Leyva Cartel, Cartel Jalisco New Generation, the Gulf Cartel, and Los Zetas. Court documents also point to Dominguez having access to top Mexican police officials at the federal level. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California, authorities estimated that the organization smuggled approximately ten tons of cocaine into the U.S monthly and would send back to Mexico about $10 million dollars per month in proceeds.

Swedish Populists Call for Syrians, Somalis, and Afghans to Be Returned as Integration Fails

The populist Sweden Democrats (SD) have called for the repatriation of Syrians, Afghans, and Somalis, noting their rate of unemployment and high numbers who have not integrated.

Party leader Jimmie Åkesson and migration policy spokesman Ludvig Aspling have said the Swedish government needs to do more to return migrants to their homelands if they rely on state benefits and do not integrate.

“Since 2010, Sweden has granted over 1.2 million residence permits, equivalent to more than a brand new Stockholm. Unemployment is almost five times higher among foreign-born compared to native-born,” the pair wrote in a debate article for the newspaper Aftonbladet.

The pair add that among Syrians, Afghans, and Somalis, half of the adults earn incomes less than 100,000 Swedish kronor (£8,189/$10,235) per year, and that among foreign-born residents in general some 600,000 are not self-sufficient.

“Remigration is not a miracle solution, but the failures of recent decades show that it must be an option – a solution for all those who live in long-term exclusion,” they said, noting that while Sweden does have a subsidy for those wishing to return to their home countries it is seldom used.

“Incentive structures and the welfare system must be reformed, so that people in exclusion cannot get caught up in welfare dependency, but are either forced into society or encouraged to remigrate,” they wrote.

Åkesson and Aspling also cited the Danish approach to repatriating migrants, quoting Danish government minister Mattias Tesfaye, who has previously stated his goal is that Denmark would receive zero asylum seekers.

The concept of remigration was also used by former French presidential candidate Eric Zemmour during his campaign earlier this year. The populist said that he wished to create a new government ministry specifically to deal with the issue.

Zemmour proposed to send at least a million migrants back to their countries over a period of five years. A poll released in late March revealed that around two-thirds of French people supported a mass remigration of illegals, foreigners on terrorist watchlists, and foreign criminals.

Havaara Agreement, 1933: Controversial agreement to facilitate emigration of German Jews to Palestine

Haavara (Transfer) was a company established in 1935 as the the result of an agreement between the Jewish Agency (the official Jewish executive in Palestine) and the Nazi regime. The agreement was designed to facilitate Jewish emigration to Palestine. Though the Nazis had ordered Jewish emigrants to surrender most of their property before leaving Germany, the Ha’avara agreement let them retain some of their assets by transferring them to Palestine as German export goods. Approximately 50,000 Jews emigrated to Palestine under this arrangement.

She has slammed the police's response to the tragedy - which saw 19 students and two teachers slaughtered - and praised parents who tried to enter the school.

One plant killed 5 million chickens because of a PCR test (proven fraudulent) that detected one case of avian flu.

Fertilizer Shortages – Sanctioning Russia and Belarus which produce 40% of potash for fertilizer has left farmers squeezed for fertilizer and paying at least twice as much today as they did last fall. Fertilizer manufacturer CF Holdings has advised farmers of delays due to mandated shipping reductions from Union Pacific Railroad.

NATO Chief Says Ukraine Shouldn’t Drop Goal of Driving Russia Out of Crimea

Jens Stoltenberg has warned NATO should be prepared to support Ukraine's fight against Russia for a long time

In an interview with The Washington Post, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Ukraine shouldn’t avoid declaring ambitious war aims of driving Russia out of the eastern Donbas region and the Crimean Peninsula, which Russia has controlled since 2014.

“They have the right to say that they are fighting for the whole of Ukraine,” Stoltenberg said. The Post report said that many US officials privately doubt Ukraine could expel Russia from the region and that such goals would “doom Kyiv to an endless war.”

Stoltenberg has warned that NATO should be prepared to provide Ukraine with long-term support for its fight against Russia. “We need to be prepared that this may actually drag on for a long time,” he said.

Ukrainian President Voldymr Zelensky recently rejected a suggestion from former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who said Ukraine should cede territory to Russia to achieve peace. Earlier in the war, Russia made clear that its demands for a ceasefire include Ukraine dropping its claim to Crimea and recognizing the independence of the breakaway Donbas republics.

As the war grinds on, Russia is making slow, but steady gains in the eastern Donbas region. Russian forces have also controlled most of the Kherson oblast, which is north of Crimea, for months now, and there are signs that Moscow is considering annexing the region.

Retaking territories now controlled by Russia would take a massive offensive by Ukraine, but Ukrainian forces are taking heavy losses. Zelensky said this week that between 60 and 100 Ukrainian soldiers are being killed every day.

While the US and its allies have shipped billions in weapons to Ukraine since Russia invaded, Ukrainian officials say it isn’t enough to mount a counterattack. Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said Friday that Kyiv “needs more” to mount a “sufficient counterattack and kick them outside of our country to liberate all occupied territory.”

Israeli officials deny killing alleged spy IRGC colonel who ‘fell off roof’ – report

Officials tell NYT Israel didn’t kill officer suspected of providing intel that led to colleague’s slaying; report comes as it emerges Iran scientist died in unclear circumstances

Two senior Israeli defense officials have reportedly said Israel did not kill the colonel of the elite Quds Force of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards who was reportedly suspected of providing information that led to the assassination of a colleague, allegedly by Israel.

Col. Ali Esmailzadeh’s death, reported for the first time on Friday, was the second in two weeks from the unit which oversees Iran’s military operations abroad.

The officials spoke to The New York Times in a report published Saturday, a day after an Iranian opposition website, quoting unnamed sources, alleged that the IRGC had killed Esmailzadeh for espionage.

The Israeli officials who denied Israel had killed Esmailzadeh spoke with The New York Times on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the matter on the record.

The Revolutionary Guards have not issued a statement or offered public condolences to Esmailzadeh’s family since his death, The New York Times said, noting that this was unusual.

Two Studies now suggest the circulating Monkeypox Virus has been manipulated in a Biolab

Monkeypox illness usually begins with a fever before a rash develops one to five days later, often beginning on the face then spreading to other parts of the body. The rash changes and goes through different stages before finally forming a scab which later falls off. An individual is contagious until all the scabs have fallen off and there is intact skin underneath.

The disease has always been extremely rare and was first identified in humans in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a 9-year-old boy. Since then, human cases of monkeypox have been reported in 11 African countries. It wasn’t until 2003 that the first monkeypox outbreak outside of Africa was recorded, and this was in the United States, and it has never been recorded in multiple countries at the same time.

Until now.

A new study published by Portugal’s National Institute of Health has uncovered evidence that the virus responsible for the Monkeypox outbreak allegedly sweeping across Europe, America and Australia, has been heavily manipulated in a lab by scientists, and further evidence suggests it has been released intentionally.

Scientists from the NIH collected clinical specimens from 9 monkeypox patients between May 15th and May 17th 2022 and analysed them.

The scientists concluded that the multi-country outbreak of monkeypox that we’re now allegedly witnessing is most likely the result of a single origin because all sequenced viruses released so far tightly cluster together.

They also concluded that the virus belongs to the West African clade of monkeypox viruses. However, they found it it is most closely related to monkeypox viruses that were exported from Nigeria to several countries in 2018 and 2019, namely the UK, Israel and Singapore.

But while the virus closely resembles those exported from Nigeria in 18/19, it is still vastly different with over 50 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), which are genetic variations.

Biden hustled to secure location after aircraft enters airspace near beach house

Two military jets were reported flying low over Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

President Biden was hustled to a secure location Saturday afternoon after an airplane entered restricted airspace near his beach home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

After the airplane was detected, Biden was moved quickly to a nearby fire station.

"Shortly before 1 p.m. today a privately owned aircraft entered the restricted airspace over Rehoboth Delaware after mistakenly entering a secured area," the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement. "The aircraft was immediately escorted out of the restricted airspace."

"Preliminary investigation reveals the pilot was not on the proper radio channel, was not following the NOTAMS (Notice to Airmen) that had been filed and was not following published flight guidance," the officials continued. "The United States Secret Service will be interviewing the pilot."

Not long after the alarm, the Bidens were confirmed safe and at home. The U.S. Secret Service does not believe there is any ongoing threat.

The Washington Free Beacon contacted partners and corporate staff at six top law firms which regularly hire Supreme Court clerks. All declined to say whether they would hire the leaker or even condemn the breach itself.

Though an internal probe has yet to identify the source, reports indicate that clerks are the focus of the investigation. Recent months have seen other unusual disclosures—such as the leak of Justice Stephen Breyer's retirement plans—which point to a newcomer with loose lips.

The steely silence approach to the unprecedented leak highlights growing tension in elite law firms between their white-collar pedigree and increasingly left-wing staff. While top firms must maintain prestige and credibility with the courts and their corporate clients, they're increasingly populated by a new class of young, left-wing lawyers who view those very entities as harmful and oppressive. The strain is driving a new dynamic in which woke lawyers are given a free hand to set DEI policies or take on progressive causes pro bono, while the firm's high-dollar commercial work goes on unabated.

Though BigLaw has always tilted left, firm culture and free legal aid are becoming decidedly more progressive, according to Free Beacon interviews with current and former attorneys at top firms. One BigLaw associate told the Free Beacon that their firm is crafting practices to better screen applicants for alignment with "firm values." Several firm offices, the source added, are hosting drag queen bingo for LGBT pride month.

"Just in case there was any doubt about what the firm's values are," the source said. The source was granted anonymity to speak candidly about events at their company.

Another lawyer who recently departed BigLaw said leftist attorneys are seizing perches on diversity and governance committees, where they can influence DEI programming and leftwing pro bono work with support from aligned partners.

"The nature of partnership lends itself to decision apathy," the source said. "It's harder to mobilize a partnership blob than it is for the DEI/HR mob to charge ahead."

The source added that many partners are willing to go along with the zeitgeist as long as it doesn't detract from the profitability of the firm.

Biden linkage of school lunches to LGBTQ agenda holds low-income kids 'hostage': critics

"This administration believes children belong to them, not parents, and wants to ensure the next generation is confused about its gender," said Marc Little.

The Biden administration's controversial new mandate tying school lunch funds to the implementation of its transgender policies will primarily hurt low-income and minority students, according to experts and community activists.

"Holding the lunch money of low-income and underprivileged kids hostage in order to advance a woke gender orthodoxy shows precisely the lengths to which the president will go to ensure his pet policies on 'gender identity' are rammed through American lunchrooms, classrooms, bathrooms, dorm rooms, and sports teams," said Sarah Parshall Perry, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation.

Perry was referring to the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency within the Department of Agriculture (USDA), announcing last month that it will extend its interpretation of prohibitions on sex-based discrimination contained in Title IX to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 forbids sex-based discrimination in any educational institution that receives federal money.

Because the USDA provides federally subsidized school lunches nationwide, schools will now need to comply with the administration's LGBTQ policies in order to maintain the federal funding.

Schools that receive funds from FNS must also "investigate allegations of discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation," the agency said in its announcement. "Those organizations must also update their non-discrimination policies and signage to include prohibitions against discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation."

The USDA manages the National School Lunch Program, which fed about 30 million students a day before the COVID-19 pandemic upended school schedules. Under the program, low-income children are eligible to receive reduced-price or free meals at school.

The new interpretation of Title IX will mean that schools can lose funding for such programs if they don't implement transgender-inclusive policies, which often include rules allowing transgender students to use the bathroom and locker room of their preferred gender.

"This is child abuse and social engineering that school districts and parents have to stand up to," said Marc Little, a California-based lawyer and pastor who started a charter school in Los Angeles comprised of mainly black and Hispanic students. "The harm will beset children of color in particular."

While researchers and federal auditors have long documented the waste and inefficiencies in federal meal programs, studies also show they can improve the health and classroom performance of students.

But according to some experts, the administration's new mandate prioritizes ideology and politics over trying to improve school meal programs for those in need.
