An anon friend of mine who deals in trading money market instruments big time opines that the average person's assets in banks' checking and savings accounts, and cash, will be secure, but bonds, derivatives, and such will be worthless. Still he advises to own some physical gold and silver just in case of bank runs, temporary suspension of bank payment systems, and just plain SHTF.
Makes sense to raise taxes on gas - the peons haven't submitted like they should, and they need to realize the penalty for disobedience.
The way I look at it is that Snowden, whatever his motives, brought to light the hidden means by which the DS spies on people, whether common citizens or other governmental rivals. A lot of people woke up to the realization that the government wasn't what the MSM had told them, by Snowden's revelations.
