More on Mo Ibrahim - NED Related
In 2006 Mo Ibrahim founded the Mo Ibrahim Foundation which supports good governance and leadership in Africa. The foundation impacts leadership in Africa through the Ibrahim Index of African Governance, the Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership, the Ibrahim Governance Weekend, the Ibrahim Leadership Fellowship and the Now Governance Network (NGN), see =2/2== for sauce on NGN. The Ibrahim Prize awards $5,000,000 US dollars over 10 years to African leaders who performed well and left office in the last 3 years. Just imagine what some US politicians would do to get that kind of money. This brings to mind some of the actions by US politicians who will not be seeking re-election. Too bad they're not from Africa. Anon wonders if any organizations make those kinds of awards to US politicians.
Ibrahim is also the founder of Mobil Systems International (MSI), Celtel International and Satya Capital Limited.
Dr. Ibrahim has won theClinton Global Citizen Award, the Eisenhower Medal for Distinguished Leadership and Service, and the David Rockefeller Bridging Leadership Award (twice). He also won theInternational Republican Institute Freedom Award, which links him to theNational Endowment for Democracy (NED). He has been made the Commander of the Order of the Lion (Senegal). H.M. King Mohammed VI of Morocco made Ibrahim Commandeur of the Wissam Arch.
Ibrahim is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations Global Board of Advisors.
