It is a floral bouquet arranged in a simple vase, on a pedestal, against a northernly facing window.
If I asked you to put what you observe to paper or canvas.
Would you draw the flowers, the vase, and its surroundings?
Or would you prefer to draw everyingthing it obscures?

"Crude" shouldn't ever be your goal in any artistic effort. Even if you only make a few economical strokes, make them count; great works of art don't necessarily require great amounts of time spent.
The best thing about creating a great work of art that has absolutely nothing to do with flowers, while still drawing inspiration from those flowers, is never forgetting the flowers.
