That's a pretty retarded explanation. The real explanation looks something like this:
Cybernetic enhancements are necessary because without them too many people with low IQs (anything under 90 for sure) would starve if we don't have a way to increase their output capacity if we were to begin disclosure. We can automate too much, don't need energy production anymore, the entire aviation industry would end overnight, tons of service jobs would suddenly evaporate, lots of health care workers, insurance workers and so much more would no longer need to be employed.
So what do all of those people do if the vast majority of those jobs disappear one day? Starve?
This is why we have no way out of cybernetic enhancements. It's either that or keep digging for oil, floating around in glorified tubes in the sky and having shitty, cheap Chinese goods.
