Woke Vegas judge faces calls to quit for telling criminal: 'I don't want to be where the cops are because I don't know if I'm going to walk away alive'

Clark County District Judge Erika Ballou told a defendant that she did not know if she would 'walk away alive' from police

in 2016 she refused to remove a 'Black Lives Matter' pinfrom her blouse when asked to by Clark County District Court Judge Douglas Herndon

The Las Vegas Police Protective Association is demanding that she step down from her post over the comments

They accuse her of being 'biased' against law enforcement, and believe her comments were 'unethical and irresponsible'

July 13, 2022

A woke Las Vegas judge is facing calls from a police union to resign after brazenly telling a criminal in her courtroom she didn't know if she would 'walk away alive' from cops.

Judge Erika Balloutold a defendant that he should have walked away from officers, after being arrested for committing battery against an officer in Nevada while on probation.

Footage of the exchange shared by KLAS shows Judge Ballou, who is black, saying: 'You're the one making the decisions not to walk away from cops. You're a black man in America.

'You know you don't want to be nowhere where cops are. Listen to me.

'You know you don't want to be nowhere where cops are cause I know I don't, and I'm a middle-aged, middle-class black woman.

'I don't want to be around where the cops are because I don't know if I'm going to walk away alive or not. You know that.'

The Clark County District attorney's office was seeking the revocation of the probation of the unnamed man, who Judge Ballou was addressing on July 11.

The Las Vegas Police Protective Association is now calling for her to quit her post over the controversial comments.

She ruled that the defendant, whose identity is not known, was in violation of his probation which she then revoked.

Judge Ballou reduced his sentence from original 24 to 60-months to 19 to 48 months.

She added: 'Even if the cop like came after and was harassing your group, you should have walked away instead of staying.

'You needed to walk away because you knew you were on probation, you knew.'

The LLVP, which represents Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers, has now called for her to quit over the comments after being sent the footage.

A spokesman said: 'On behalf of the men and women of law enforcement, the Las Vegas Police Protective Association takes exception to Judge Erika Ballou's disparaging comments about police officers.

'We call upon Judge Ballou to resign from the bench. We also ask the Judicial Ethics Commission to sanction her for violating the Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct.

'Among other obligations, the rules require the judiciary to, '[A]spire at all times to conduct that ensures the greatest possible public confidence in their independence, impartiality, integrity, and competence.'

'Judge Ballou has demonstrated that she is biased against law enforcement and cannot live up to the standards required of a jurist.

'Judge Ballou's comments, from the bench, that she, 'does not want to be around where cops are because I don't know whether I am going to walk away alive or not…' are both unethical and irresponsible.

'Police officers and the law abiding citizens of our community deserve better from the judiciary.'

Outdoor dog kennels where Alex Murdaugh's wife and youngest son were shot dead 'execution style' are seen for first time:Jailed legal scion's shirt was found with 'high velocity blood spatter'as he's indicted for their murders

Alex Murdaugh, 53, was indicted Thursday on two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, in relation to his wife and son's deaths last year

Maggie Murdaugh, 52, and her son Paul, 22, were found dead near outdoor dog kennels on the family's Moselle, South Carolina property on June 7, 2021

Photos obtained by DailyMail.com offer a first time look at the scene where the mother and son's gruesome murders took place, with the stalls now vacant

The Murdaugh family's 1,700-acre hunting estate, which was in Maggie's name at the time of her death, was recently sold for $3.9million, probate records seen by DailyMail.com reveal

Husband and father - and one-time scion of a South Carolina legal dynasty - Alex Murdaugh, 53, called 911 to report his wife and youngest son's deaths, telling police he returned home at 10pm to find their lifeless bodies

Paul was shot twice with a shotgun – once in the head and once in the chest, while Maggie had been shot multiple times with an assault rifle

The mysterious double murder, which sparked the beginning of the end for the prominent legal family, seems to be on the cusp of being resolved with Alex expected to be charged in connection to the slayings this week

In the immediate aftermath of the killings, Murdaugh's attorneys claimed he had a 'ironclad alibi' and that his marriage with Maggie was 'full of love' - but witness accounts and inconsistencies have cast doubt on both

In fact, DailyMail.com can reveal, Murdaugh's 'alibi' has changed significantly since his initial claims that he was nowhere near the property between 9 and 9:30pm - the approximate time of death

Italy's President Mattarella rejects Prime Minister Draghi's resignation

July 14, 2022

Rome (CNN)Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi said he would resign later Thursday after the 5-Star movement, the largest party in the coalition government, withdrew its support in a parliamentary confidence vote.

Despite the 5-Star boycott, Draghi's measures passed by 172 to 39. However, it left the government at real risk of collapse and could lead to an early election.

"I want to announce that this evening I will present my resignation to the President of the Republic," Draghi said in a statement.

"Today's votes in Parliament are very significant from a political point of view. The majority of national unity that has supported this government since its creation is no longer there," he added.

But Italy's President, Sergio Mattarella, has rejected Draghi's resignation, the Italian Presidency said in a statement. Mattarella instead asked Draghi to address the parliament in order to assess the political situation.

"The President of the Republic did not accept the resignation and invited the Prime Minister to appear before Parliament to make communications, so that an assessment of the situation that has arisen as a result of the outcome of the session held today in the Senate of the Republic could be carried out in its proper forum," the statement said.

Draghi was appointed Prime Minister if Italy in 2021 to help the country recover from the Covid-19 crisis. He was seen as a safe pair of hands that would be able to responsibly use the European Union's Covid recovery funds. Draghi had previously served as President of the European Central Bank from 2011 to 2019. Upon taking the job he appointed a cabinet comprising of people from a wide range of Italy's political parties.

Draghi had previously said that he would not lead a government that did not include 5-Star, the largest party in Italy's party. The populist 5-Star movement objected to Draghi's cost-of-living package on the grounds it didn't go far enough, though it had been threatening to withdraw its support for a long time.

Yankees unlikely to pursue Andrew Benintendi trade because he’s unvaccinated

July 14, 2022

The Yankees are unlikely to continue pursuing a trade for Andrew Benintendi, the Royals’ All-Star left fielder, because he is not vaccinated against COVID-19, The Post’s Jon Heyman reports.

Benintendi, 28, is one of 10 Royals players not making the trip to Toronto for a four-game series against the Blue Jays that starts Thursday night. Those players are not allowed to enter Canada because of their vaccination status.

The Yankees, who had a fully vaccinated roster when they went to Toronto in early May and mid-June, have one more trip to Canada remaining: a three-game series against the Blue Jays on Sept. 26-28. The Yankees have a 14-game lead in the AL East, while the Blue Jays are tied with the Red Sox and Mariners for the final two wild-card spots.

The Mets have not ruled out a Benintendi pursuit, Heyman reports. They’re not as concerned about Benintendi’s vaccination status because they do not make a trip to Toronto this season.

Dad used to coordinate the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds, depending on who the talent was for the annual air show, the flight line was his "purview"

Dad said the Blue Angels were all about "How can I help? What would you like us to do"

The Thunderbirds were the opposite. They were prima donnas (Dad's words) and wouldn't even check themselves in at the hotel, had a list of demands including having the Base do the checking in, provide them with keys upon arrival, the list went on and on..

250,000 people attended those shows. Did anon get to go? Oh hell no.
