It's not too hard to come up with a reason that an evil god might save one bloodline. We do similar all the time in agriculture, which is actually the foundation of current human society funny enough.
No need to apologize for being high. While it is most certainly not without it's own unique (and sometimes extreme) dangers, it is also pretty much necessary to explore alternate mind states and the unique perspectives they present, if you want to have a hope of engaging with the world's most successful narrative lines on anything other than a subservient footing.
