A village went up in flames as Britain ignited on its hottest day in history.

Hundreds of people were forced to flee their homes in Wennington, Essex, as firefighters tried to control a blaze that engulfed dozens of houses amid “tinderbox dry” conditions on Tuesday.

Aerial photos showed homes gutted and engulfed by flames. Smoke could be seen billowing over the Thames.

As the heatwave brought record temperatures, the fire appeared to have started on nearby shrubland before ripping through homes and gardens. Police cordoned off the area and extended the danger zone as the fire spread.

Rev Elise Peterson, vicar of Wennington Parish Church, said: "This is a deeply shocking and worrying time for people in Wennington.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected and with the emergency services who are dealing with the situation.”

Across the country, "major incidents" were declared by 10 fire services, some stations ran out of engines and others stopped responding to automatic alarms, as Britain recorded temperatures of more than 40C for the first time.

Temperatures peaked at 40.3C in Coningsby, Lincolnshire. Scotland also broke its all-time heat record, with 34.8C measured at Charterhall, in the Scottish Borders.

More than 30 weather stations broke the previous temperature record of 38.7C. Monday night was also declared the hottest on record, never dropping below 25.8C in Kenley, in Surrey.

40K THOUGHTS - BREAK INDIVIDUAL COUNTRIES AND REPLACE WITH CONTINENT FRACTIONS 5 IN TOTAL

Anons mind wonders on both sides of the battle, what they want and what we want, our side feel like oliver twist from the book.

There is global control with a view to living in space and having paradise on earth where the pick and choose islands with slaves bought in for their entertainment.

Seems very hunger games style.

Have they already moved off earth and what we are watching is programming from a space station with them just visiting earth and us poor phlebs still fighting amongst each other?

'Cryptoqueen' Ruja Ignatova added to FBI most-wanted list over OneCoin scheme

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Ruja Ignatova.

New YorkA German citizen accused of defrauding investors out of $4 billion by selling a fake cryptocurrency called OneCoin has been added to the FBI's list of its ten most-wanted fugitives, US officials said on Thursday.

Ruja Ignatova, also known as "Cryptoqueen," was charged in 2019 with eight counts including wire fraud and securities fraud for running the Bulgaria-based OneCoin Ltd as a pyramid scheme. Prosecutors say the company offered commissions for members to entice others to buy a worthless cryptocurrency.

"She timed her scheme perfectly, capitalizing on the frenzied speculation of the early days of cryptocurrency," said Damian Williams, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan.

Williams described OneCoin as "one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history."

Ignatova disappeared in late 2017 after bugging an apartment belonging to her American boyfriend and learning he was cooperating with an FBI probe into OneCoin, Williams said. She boarded a flight from Bulgaria to Greece and has not been seen since, he said.

The FBI is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to Ignatova's capture, said Michael Driscoll, the FBI's assistant director-in-charge in New York
