Biden Seeking $37B for to Expand Law Enforcement
US President Joe Biden will unveil plans Thursday for a new anti-crime program worth around $37 billion, intended among other things to increase police hiring by 100,000 officers over five years.
Other parts of the budget would go to clearing court backlogs and resolving cases involving murders and guns. The administration intends to spend $15 billion of the overall sum on violent crime prevention initiatives as well as creating a public health response to nonviolence incidents, not involving police.
