A nine-year-old Swedish girl was the victim of a brutal murder attempt at a playground in the Swedish industrial town of Skellefteå. A 13-year-old Ethiopian boy, already notorious in the community, has been accused of the crime by local police.

The little girl remains in a coma, with photos released by the family showing her surrounded by stuffed animals in a local hospital bed. The teen suspect, who was granted permanent residence status just a week before the attack, beat the young girl at 5:30 p.m. last Thursday at the Morö Backe school. Police and emergency services arrived on scene after the attack.

“It is a serious crime, attempted murder, and those involved are children. The victim is a girl under 15 years old. Then, there is a suspect, a boy who is also under 15 years old,” Lars Persson, the acting local police chief, told Swedish newspaper Samnytt.

There are also questions from the community about the boy’s true age, as many migrants lie about their age in order to obtain benefits and avoid deportation. Many in the community believe that the suspect should be detained for the attempted murder of the little girl.

“Should such a person be allowed to go unpunished? Should that one remain in the country? Here we pay contributions to them, and then they come here and misbehave. It is completely inconceivable,” one unnamed parent told the Samnytt news outlet.

Former president lists ‘sins of Russia’

Dmitry Medvedev has hit backat the numerous accusations aimed at Moscow with a heaping dose of sarcasm

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has compiled what he said is a list of Moscow’s ‘sins’, mocking the accusations hurled at the nation by the West. The list was published on Medvedev’s Telegram channel on Wednesday.

“OUR SINS (what Russia is guilty of): Skyrocketing gas prices at all pumps in the US and their close allies; soaring prices for all food products in all stores across all continents; sweltering heat in the European resorts that torments all living beings; triggering the ‘sanctions from hell’ against Russia that hit defenseless European companies,” he wrote.

Medvedev added that Russia is to blame for “[US President]Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. occasionally confusing words, failing to find the exit to the room, and reading technical notes on a teleprompter.”

The list also included mail-in voting in the US, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz being called an “offended liverwurst,” (an insult made by former Ukrainian Ambassador Andrey Melnik), and all the resignations of European leaders since “Peter the Great arrogantly established the Russian Empire against all odds.”

Medvedev continues, saying Russia is responsible for “public opinion manipulation with the help of Russian classical literature and symphonic music,” as well as “the wanton murder of the progressive European politician Gaius Julius Caesar committed by a gang of terrorists, including Publius Servilius Casca, Marcus Brutus, and other Russian hacks in order to split the Western world and promote anti-liberal values.”

The ex-president concludes the open-ended list of Russia’s sins with the “unprovoked preemptive meteorite strike on our planet and the subsequent dinosaur extinction.”

Medvedev’s comments come days after he claimed that Washington and London have drawn the “useful European idiots” into an economic war against Russia. “Washington in tandem with London conned the Europeans like a couple of shell-game tricksters,” he said at the time, referring to the record weakening of the euro.

Kari Lake Calls Doug Ducey And Mike Pence ‘Laughing Stocks Of Politics’

The Arizona gubernatorial primary has arguably remained one of the most famous statewide races in America today, with tensions flaring high all over the Republican Party. Former Phoenix TV anchor Kari Lake has remained at the top of the race, consistently holding double-digit leads against her others opponents in many polls. Lake proudly touted her endorsement by former President Trump throughout the race, unlike her opponent Karrin Taylor Robson, who earned the support of former Vice President Mike Pence.

Robson complimented Pence after his endorsement, saying that “modern politics is full of charlatans and fakes, but VP Pence is the genuine article.”

American journalist Jack Posobiec hosted Kari Lake on a Tuesday episode of Steve Bannon’s War Room to offer her take on the matter.

“It is MAGA versus the swamp,” Lake stated confidently. “And I think we know what side the American people are on.”

Lake continued, “The swamp creatures are taking their last gasp of breath and trying to hold on for dear life, but they’re gonna get flushed away in this election… we’re seeing it.”

The former news anchor then attacked the state’s current governor and the former vice president, who have both expressed public support for Robson.

“They’re thinking that rolling out somebody like Doug Ducey or Mike Pence will do the job. I mean, these guys are the laughing stock, frankly, of politics right now. The people have turned on them because they turned on the people, and my opponent has never been even close to catching up with us in the polls.”

China calls for ‘immediate ceasefire’ in Ukraine

All parties to the conflict should “sit down, calm down” and resume talks, Beijing’s ambassador to the US has said

China wants an “immediate ceasefire” in Ukraine and the resumption of talks between all of the parties involved in the conflict, including the US and NATO, its ambassador to the US Qin Gang said on Wednesday.

Speaking at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado, Qin said that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine was “spilling over” and causing “multiple crises,” including an economic downturn, an influx of migrants, and energy and food shortages.

“So what China is calling for is immediate ceasefire, resumption of peace talks. All parties involved should be engaged, including between Russia and US and its NATO allies,” the ambassador said.

He called on the sides to “sit down, calm down to find a way out of [the] dilemma” which would be based “on the principle of accommodating each other’s legitimate concerns.”

“Only by doing so can we achieve peace and can we restore the security in Europe which should be stable, should be comprehensive, should be balanced, effective and sustainable,” the diplomat said, adding that this position was shared by other developing countries.

According to the ambassador, Beijing believes that “national sovereignty and the territorial integrity of all countries must be respected” and that “the legitimate security concerns of all countries must be taken seriously.”

Meanwhile, two days ago, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba declared that peace negotiations with Moscow would make sense only after Russia’s defeat on the battlefield. By saying so, he echoed the remarks of EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, who claimed that, “This war [in Ukraine] will be won on the battlefield.”

Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to Kuleba’s statement by saying that the Ukrainian government did not seek peace for the country and, instead of talking with Russia, was choosing to sing along to Washington’s “tune.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has previously accused the US and its allies of “actively betting on the continued war” and of not allowing Kiev “to think nor talk about or discuss peace.”

Moscow and Kiev started peace talks four days after the start of the Russian military offensive in Ukraine in late February. The sides have held several rounds in person in Belarus and then continued the talks via video link. In late March, the delegations from Russia and Ukraine met once again, in Istanbul. Since then, however, the talks have stalled.

Panama: Ongoing protests over inflation, high costs of living

As the people of Panama spend their third week on the country's streets to protest the high cost of living, particularly the high fuel, food, and medicine prices, these demonstrations have started to cause shortages in these items due to the blocking of roads.

The protests have seen Panamanians blocking various roads and international highways, including the Pan-American Highway, forcing the national electric company to ration electricity in Colombia-bordering Darien province.

Tankers transporting gas to fuel the power generation plant cannot reach their destination and thus cannot provide the plant with the resources it needs to provide power to the region's people. Some 7,000 families have been bearing the brunt of the rationing, with electricity only coming on for 11 hours a day.

The main wholesale market in the country, which is one of the main suppliers of produce and products to supermarkets and individual consumers, had barely any traffic on Wednesday, contrary to how it usually is, with very low quantities of products on the stands.

The Chriqui province is the main supplier of produce to the Panamanian markets, but the region's Indigenous Ngobe-Bugle people have blocked several parts of the Pan-American highway, preventing trucks carrying produce from reaching the capital, Panama City.

The people demanding the government to provide them with their rights are also affecting trade and shipments coming from elsewhere in Central America.

The road blockades have led to losses that exceeded $130 million so far, groups representing agricultural producers said.

The situation is getting a little better, though, as protesters have cleared up some roadblocks on the international highway, allowing many trucks to pass into the various cities of Panama, mainly Panama City.

The food coming in is sold rapidly, with the director of Merca Panama, the aforementioned wholesale market, saying: "As the cargo enters, the stands restock, that is what we're trying to do today, to get 80% stocked," as consumers rush to the stands.

The protests also led to oxygen scarcity in hospitals in Chiriqui. However, the Health Ministry said the company running the supply chain had inventory in its warehouses in the provincial capital and was able to resupply the hospitals.

It is worth noting noted that the government of President Laurentino Cortizo, which implemented austerity measures and froze fuel prices, tried to reach an agreement with the protesters since the beginning of the demonstrations, but to no avail.

Last Tuesday, the police fired tear gas at protesters who blocked roads in the west of the country. A number of associations that sought alongside other organizations to conclude an agreement with the government described the situation in the country as "critical", in light of the continued suppression of protests by the police.

For more than a hot second after the emergence of the omicron coronavirus variant, there was a major backlash from the right against President Biden having labeled our current state of affairs a “pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

The reason: The omicron variant rendered the coronavirus vaccines significantly less effective at stopping the spread. “What’s the point of vaccines or vaccine mandates?” a bunch of powerful people asked. They did so while deliberately ignoring both the vaccines’ continued assistance in slowing the spread (albeit at a reduced rate) and their continually strong performance in keeping people alive and out of the hospital.

It was shortsighted at the time, and it’s looking increasingly so now.

New data shows that on those same measures — literally the most vital ones — the gap between vaccinated and unvaccinated Americans remains stark. In fact, when you compare unvaccinated people to those most protected by the vaccines, the gap has grown.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released new data this week from Los Angeles County. The data covered the period between Nov. 7 and Jan. 8, which means the vast majority of cases involved came after the rise of omicron.

What you’ll see right away is that there are indeed lots of infections among both unvaccinated people and vaccinated people — more specifically, vaccinated people who haven’t gotten boosters. The latter accounted for a majority of cases, about 53 percent. A big reason for that is that they significantly outnumber the unvaccinated in the county, currently about 2 to 1. Unvaccinated people still got infected more frequently, but the gap closed.

Where the gap has not really closed — and indeed has arguably increased — is when you focus on the most serious cases, and when you compare the unvaccinated to those who have taken the most advantage of the vaccines.

Back in September, we got a big new data download from the CDC. It showed that during the spring and summer, unvaccinated people had been 10 times more likely to be hospitalized with the coronavirus and 11 times more likely to die. Those were big numbers that placed the importance of vaccination in stark relief.

After the introduction of boosters, we now have yet another category to compare to the unvaccinated: the boosted. And the gap is greater still.

The Los Angeles County data showed that at the tail end of the period in which the delta variant was predominant, unvaccinated people were 83 times more likely to be hospitalized than boosted people. Once omicron became predominant in early December and cases rose, the gap shrank. But it was still a 23-fold difference — greater than the gap in the larger study from earlier in the year.

The CDC also recently provided data from a larger study — similar to the spring-and-summer data from last year. In data for 25 jurisdictions covering the last three months of 2021, it found the death rate was 53 times higher among the unvaccinated than the boosted.

It’s gotten to the point where people who are vaccinated and boosted dying in a given week is apparently about 1 in a million — even less than dying in a car crash, as the New York Times’s David Leonhardt wrote.

As Leonhardt also noted, this is also hardly the first data to suggest a growing gap in outcomes between the unvaccinated and everyone else. Data from Seattle and New York City point in the same direction.

Interestingly, that larger 25-jurisdiction study showed that the smaller gap between the unvaccinated and the vaccinated-but-unboosted remained similar to the spring and summer: You were about 13 times more likely to die if you were unvaccinated, compared with 11 times before.

But layering on boosters has expanded the gaps even further between the unprotected and the most-protected. That shows up in both the larger study, which mostly covered the delta period, and the more specific omicron data from Los Angeles County.

Last month, we noted that the pushback against the “pandemic of the unvaccinated” talking point ignored the metrics by which we usually define pandemics:

Those more-serious cases cause significant damage because of the strain not just on the people involved and their loved ones, but on the larger health-care system — which is a hugely important piece of this. A huge and defining piece of any pandemic, after all, is the lasting results it has by virtue of its most serious cases. We often talk about these things in terms of death tolls for a reason, and the unvaccinated are overwhelmingly driving the death toll.

The most recent data suggests those who continue to eschew the vaccines, despite everything, are likely to drive the death toll even more.

CDC: COVID-19 Is a 'Pandemic of the Unvaccinated'

July 16, 2021 COVID-19 cases are continuing to spike in communities where vaccination rates are low, leading to whatCDC Director Rochelle P. Walensky, MD, called “a pandemic of the unvaccinated.”

Walensky reported sobering numbers during a news conference Friday: The most recent 7-day average of new COVID-19 cases was more than 26,300, up 70% from the previous week. The average of daily deaths is now 211 – an increase of 26%.

“There is a clear message that's coming through: This is becoming a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” Walensky said. “We are seeing outbreaks in parts of the country where we're seeing low vaccination coverage.”

She continued, “The good news is, if you're fully vaccinated, you're protected … our biggest concern is we are going to continue see preventable cases, hospitalizations, and sadly, deaths among the unvaccinated.”

Walensky said rates have gone down considerably since the peak of the pandemic when the country saw 200,000 cases per day. However, because of the highly transmissible Delta variant, we are “in a critical moment in the pandemic.”

When asked if breakthrough infections – illness caused by COVID-19 in vaccinated people – is contributing to the spread of the Delta variant, infectious disease expert Anthony S. Fauci, MD, said it is unlikely.

Research shows the viral load among those who are vaccinated is so low that transmission is unlikely, but, he said, there is not sufficient clinical data on that yet.

Fauci said as of June 2021, the variant had made it to 100 countries around the world.

White House COVID-19 coordinator Jeff Zients said four states accounted for 40% of new cases last week – one in five coming from Florida.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases is going up in every state as the Delta variant continues to spread across the nation.

An analysis by The New York Times of data from state and local health agencies showed a 7-day average of about 28,000 new cases a day on Thursday, a major jump from around 11,000 daily cases on June 20. That’s still better than the last surge in January, when there was a 7-day average of about 255,000 new cases a day.

“This will definitely be a surge,” Michael Osterholm, PhD, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, told the Times. “It won’t be as big as what happened in January. But we still have 100 million people in the United States who are susceptible to COVID-19.”

The CDC says the Delta variant is now responsible for about 59% of new COVID-19 infections in the nation.

Hospitalizations are not nearly as high as during the dark days of January, but they’re rising from last month, especially in areas with low vaccination rates.

In Springfield, MO, health officials are seeking state funding to set up a field hospital to handle the overflow of patients, USA Today reported. That was a tactic used in California during the worst days of the pandemic.

The Times said only about 530,000 people in the U.S. are being vaccinated a day, down from 3.3 million a day in April. Less than half the U.S. is fully vaccinated, the CDC says, though 79% of people over 65 the most vulnerable demographic are fully vaccinated.

“In March, people flooded to our vaccination sites – all we had to do was open a door,” Ben Weston, MD, the director of medical services for the Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management in Wisconsin, told the Times. “Now we have to go out and find people.”

About 48% of people in Milwaukee County are fully vaccinated, The Times reported.

L.A. County Makes Indoor Masking Mandatory

Los Angeles County public health officials are once again making face masks in indoor public places mandatory not just advisable regardless of a person’s vaccination status. The new masking order takes effect Saturday.

Because of the Delta variant, case counts have soared since the state government reopened the economy on June 15, L.A. County Public Health said in a news release.

The Health Department reported 210 new COVID cases on June 15, compared to 1,537 new cases on Thursday – the highest number since mid-March. Thursday’s test positivity rate was 3.7%, up from .5% on June 15.

The Delta variant accounted for 71% of all sequenced cases from June 27 to July 3, the Health Department said.

“We expect to keep masking requirements in place until we begin to see improvements in our community transmission of COVID-19,” L.A. County Health Officer Muntu Davis, MD, said in the release.

Sacramento and Yolo counties in California are now recommending, but not requiring, that residents wear masks in indoor public places, according to SFGate. California Gov. Gavin Newsom said last week there was no immediate plan for a statewide requirement.

Austin, TX, Brings Back COVID Protocols

Because of a surge in infections, the city of Austin, TX, is returning to Stage 3 protocols, the city government said in a news release.

The city recommends that unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people wear masks at indoor and outdoor gatherings or while dining, shopping, and traveling. People who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and considered high-risk should avoid those activities altogether.

Vaccinated people don’t need to wear masks during those activities, the news release said.

“While the Delta variant has likely been circulating in our area for a while, we now have confirmation through sequencing that it is here,” said Desmar Walkes, MD, the health authority for Austin-Travis County.

“Disturbingly, we are now experiencing a rise in COVID hospitalizations that could overwhelm our city’s ICUs. Almost all these hospitalizations involve those who have not been vaccinated. This is a plea for people to become vaccinated, so we do not put our ICU capacity at risk,” Austin Mayor Steve Adler said in the news release.

But the Texas Tribune pointed out that the Stage 3 guidelines don’t carry the weight of law. Last May, Gov. Greg Abbott banned pandemic mandates.

Over the summer of 2021, as the Delta variant swept the nation, Americans’ experience with COVID-19 bifurcated. Among vaccinated people, cases were low and deaths were rare; at the same time, people with no immunity were getting sick and dying at alarming rates. COVID-19 became the pandemic of the unvaccinated.

Then in December, Omicron showed up. Cases have surged in recent weeks, blowing past records set during the Delta wave. Driving this trend is Omicron’s extremely high transmissibility, compounded by waning immunity among vaccinated people who are experiencing symptomatic breakthrough infections. With cases rising among both the vaccinated and unvaccinated, it may seem like the gap between the two groups is narrowing—and that the “pandemic of the unvaccinated” is now a misnomer.

The arrest of 17 House Democrats who were protesting with pro-abortion activists outside the Supreme Court may have been a coordinated event.

There may be a connection between Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a dark money far-Left group allegedly funded by George Soros.

AOC admitted in an Instagram “story” that individuals from the Soros-funded Center for Popular Democracy Action Fund (CPD Action) encouraged her and fellow House Democrats to “submit themselves for arrest in front of the Supreme Court.”

She explained the arrest stunt was carried out “because media cycles go FAST and the attention and urgency on Roe can easily fade.”

The New York congresswoman went on to advocate for civil disobedience, calling it “a highly effective way of accomplishing” media attention on the pro-choice movement.

Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar was also involved in the publicity stunt. 30 minutes before her arrest, Jeremy Slevin, a spokesman for the Omar office, tweeted that the Soros group, CPD Action, would conveniently be live-streaming the congresswomen’s protest and hinted the protest will be “potentially including arrests.”

“Members of Congress, including [Rep. IlhanOmar] will be participating in a civil disobedience at the Supreme Court, potentially including arrests, shortly,” Slevin tweeted before the lawmakers began illegally obstructing the street outside the Supreme Court. “@CPDAction is live streaming it. The United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for sustainable development informs government policies to restrict farming and transform the food systems in different parts of the world, said Alex Newman, an award-winning international journalist who has covered this issue for over a decade.

The 2030 Agenda is a plan of action devised by the United Nations (U.N.) to achieve 17 sustainable development goals (SDG). The goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development were adopted by all UN member states in 2015.

Then-Secretary General of the U.N. Ban Ki-moon called the 2030 Agenda “the global declaration of interdependence,” (pdf) Newman said in a recent interview on EpochTV’s “Crossroads” program.

“In my opinion, [it] was a direct swipe at our Declaration of Independence … So instead of being independent nations, we will all be now interdependent.”

The 2030 Agenda “covers every element of human life, every element of the economy,” including global wealth redistribution not only within the nations but also among the nations, Newman commented. The Agenda “specifically says that we need to change the way that we consume and produce goods,” he added.

Goal number two on the 2030 Agenda deals specifically with food, Newman said.

In September 2021, the U.N. held the Food Systems Summit, which emphasized the need “to leverage the power of food systems” for the purpose of achieving all 17 sustainable development goals by 2030, according to a U.N. statement.

“Everyone, everywhere, must take action and work together to transform the way the world produces, consumes, and thinks about food,” the statement said.

White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, and other top Biden administration officials have been served with discovery requests after a federal judge ordered the administration to comply with discovery requests stemming from a lawsuit alleging government collusion with Big Tech.

The lawsuit accuses government officials of working with Twitter and other major social media networks to suppress truthful information on multiple topics, including COVID-19.

One example outlined is how Fauci, the longtime head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, held a secret meeting with scientists who soon after tried to discredit the theory that the virus that causes COVID-19 came from a Chinese laboratory. At the same time, Fauci, who has repeatedly cast doubt on the so-called lab leak theory and whose agency funded research at the lab in Wuhan, was exchanging messages with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on how COVID-19 information on social media was handled.

Fauci was told in the request to identify every worker in his agency who has or is communicating with a social media platform regarding content modulation and/or misinformation, to identify all such communications he had, and to identify all meetings he had on the matter with social media platforms.

He was also asked to provide all communications with Zuckerberg from Jan. 1, 2020, to the present, and all communications with platforms related to the Great Barrington Declaration, the COVID-19 strategy authored by Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, Martin Kulldorff, and Dr. Sunetra Gupta that Fauci and his former boss, Dr. Francis Collins, criticized publicly and in private.

Discovery requests were also sent to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre; former Disinformation Governance Board chief Nina Jankowicz; Jen Easterly, director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; and agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Homeland Security.

Subpoenas

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry, the plaintiffs in the suit, also served subpoenas to Meta, Facebook’s parent company; YouTube; Twitter; Instagram; and LinkedIn.

Russia's experience in Ukraine is influencing China's calculations about how and when it might decide to "invade" Taiwan, according to the CIA chief on Wednesday.

During a speech at the Aspen Security Forum, Central Intelligence Agency Director Bill Burns brushed down rumors that Chinese President Xi Jinping may move on Taiwan following a critical Communist Party meeting later this year.

“The risks of that become higher, it seems to us, the further into this decade that you get,” Burns said, adding, “I wouldn’t underestimate President Xi’s determination to assert China’s control” over self-ruling Taiwan.

Burns said that China was “unsettled” while observing the five-month-old war in Ukraine, which he believes is a “strategic failure” for President Vladimir Putin as he had hoped to "topple the Kiev government within a week."

“Our sense is that it probably affects less the question of whether the Chinese leadership might choose some years down the road to use force to control Taiwan, but how and when they would do it,” Burns said.

He said that China must have "learned" from Ukraine that “you don’t achieve quick, decisive victories with underwhelming force.”

“I suspect the lesson that the Chinese leadership and military are drawing is that you’ve got to amass overwhelming force if you’re going to contemplate that in the future,” he said.

China also has likely learned that it has to “control the information space” and “do everything you can to shore up your economy against the potential for sanctions,” he added.

Burns, echoing prior US assessments, stated that despite verbal support, the US does not believe Beijing is providing military assistance to Russia.

He stated that China has increased its purchases of Russian energy but is wary of triggering Western penalties.

Beijing prefers peace

Speaking before Burns at the forum in the Rocky Mountains, China’s Ambassador to the United States, Qin Gang, said that Beijing still preferred “peaceful reunification”.

But he accused the US of supporting “independence” forces in Taiwan, where President Tsai Ing-wen has asserted the island’s "separate identity".

“No conflict and no war is the biggest consensus between China and the United States,” Qin said. But the United States is “hollowing out and blurring” its stated policy of recognizing only Beijing, he said.

“Only by adhering strictly to the one-China policy, only by joining hands to constrain and oppose Taiwan independence, can we have a peaceful reunification,” he said.

US President Joe Biden said in May that the US was ready to use force to defend Taiwan from a Chinese attack, appearing to shed the long-held US ambiguity on whether it would engage militarily, although the White House quickly withdrew its comments.

pair of Russian satellites are tailing a multibillion-dollar U.S. spy satellite hundreds of miles above the Earth’s surface, a top U.S. military commander tells TIME, underscoring a growing threat to America’s dominance in space-based espionage and a potentially costly new chapter in Washington’s decades-long competition with Moscow.

Gen. John “Jay” Raymond, commander of the newly minted U.S. Space Force, says the Russian spacecraft began maneuvering toward the American satellite shortly after being launched into orbit in November, at times creeping within 100 miles of it. “We view this behavior as unusual and disturbing,” Raymond says. “It has the potential to create a dangerous situation in space.” Raymond says the U.S. government has expressed concern to Moscow through diplomatic channels.

The confrontation marks the first time the U.S. military has publicly identified a direct threat to a specific American satellite by an adversary. The incident parallels Russia’s terrestrial encounters with the U.S. and its allies, including close calls between soldiers, fighter jets and warships around the world. Observers worry that space is now offering a new theater for unintentional escalation of hostilities between the long-time adversaries.

Pentagon, White House and Congressional backers, say the incident demonstrates the need for the Space Force, which President Donald Trump established in December when he signed the National Defense Authorization Act into law. It became the first new military service since the Air Force was created in 1947.

On October 5, 2020, the Commission filed a complaint alleging that McAfee, with Watson's assistance, promoted investments in ICOs to McAfee's Twitter followers without disclosing that they were paid to do so. The complaint alleged that Watson assisted McAfee by negotiating the promotion deals with the ICO issuers and helping McAfee cash out the crypto payments for the promotions, among other things. McAfee and Watson also allegedly engaged in a separate scheme to profit from a crypto asset security by secretly accumulating a large position in McAfee's accounts, touting that security on Twitter while intending to sell it, and then selling McAfee's holdings as the price rose.
