Russia Claims Ukraine Soldiers Made Into 'Monsters' by Secret Experiments

Russian officials claimed on Monday that Ukrainian soldiers have been turned into "monsters" in "secret experiments" in biological laboratories in Ukraine funded by the United States government.

Vice-speakers of Russia's Federation Council and the State Duma, Konstantin Kosachev and Irina Yarovaya made the remarks after a regular meeting of a parliamentary commission that was created in March to probe the activities of American biological laboratories on Ukrainian territory, state media outlet Kommersant reported.

According to Kosachev and Yarovaya, the co-chairs of the commission, blood analysis of Ukrainian servicemen showed that they had been subjected to "secret experiments," which transformed them into "the most cruel monsters."

Speaking to reporters after the meeting on Monday, Kosachev claimed that experiments were conducted on the Ukrainian soldiers and that experiments on "extremely dangerous diseases" were also carried out on Ukrainian territory "which under certain circumstances could be distributed for military purposes."

Kosachev alleged that blood samples from captured Ukrainian servicemen showed that "for a number of diseases, including those atypical for Ukrainian territory, the content of the relevant substances is several times higher than the permissible norms."

Yarovaya said blood analysis found traces of drugs, hepatitis A and the West Nile virus, which causes West Nile fever.

The pair offered no evidence to back up their claims. The Russian allegations are unverified and Newsweek has reached out to Russian and Ukrainian authorities for comment.

Speaking to Kommersant, a Russian geneticist, Kirill Volkov, noted that the diseases listed by the vice speaker of the State Duma are typical for the region. He also noted that subtropical diseases are now spreading in the southern regions of Russia and that they may well be more pronounced in Ukraine.

Volkov said the pair's claims were exaggerated.

The claims come after Russian officials on March 6 pushed the false narrative that Ukraine is developing biological weapons with funding from the U.S.

Russia's defense ministry claimed it had obtained evidence Ukraine and the U.S. had collaborated to develop biological weapons, Newsweek previously reported. Major General Igor Konashenkov alleged that pathogens for deadly diseases such as the plague, anthrax and cholera were being created to be used for biological warfare in Ukrainian laboratories funded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).

Fact-checking website Snopes noted that Russia has since 2018 pushed the false claim that there are such laboratories in Ukraine developing germ warfare capabilities.

The DOD and the Ukraine Ministry of Health have, since 1991, been part of the Cooperative Threat Reduction Program, which seeks to reduce the threat of weapons of mass destruction following the collapse of the Soviet Union.

On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned Ukrainians to be wary of Russian propaganda, disinformation and the "media terror" surrounding the Russian invasion.

Russian officials and propagandists are creating "horror stories" and twisting information, he said.

"This sometimes takes on simply unhealthy forms when social networks and websites deliberately stuff fake information from Russia, the purpose of which is only one—to add media terror to the missile and artillery terror against our country," Zelensky said.

"It is obvious that any missiles and artillery of Russia will not succeed in breaking our unity and knocking us off our path," he added. "And it should be equally obvious that Ukrainian unity cannot be broken by lies or intimidation, fake information or conspiracy theories."

Most recently, Troye served in the Office of the Vice President of the United States as the Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisor to Vice President Pence. In this role, she focused on tracking imminent and evolving domestic and international security threats, natural disaster events, and managing complex policy decisions and responses to large scale crisis events facing the American people. Prior to this, she served in the Office of Intelligence & Analysis at the Department of Homeland Security as Chief of Strategy, Policy, & Plans.

"Olivia is a risk management and national security executive and lawyer with a combined 20 years of government service and private sector experience, holding leadership roles throughout the Intelligence community and national security sectors. Olivia is fluent in Spanish and is originally from El Paso, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, the National Defense University's School of International Affairs, and the Naval Postgraduate School.

NICB was formed in 1992 from a merger between the National Automobile Theft Bureau (NATB) and the Insurance Crime Prevention Institute (ICPI), both of which were not-for-profit organizations. The NATB, which managed vehicle theft investigations and developed vehicle theft databases for use by the insurance industry, dates to the early 20th century. The ICPI investigated insurance fraud for approximately 20 years before joining with the NATB to form the present National Insurance Crime Bureau.

Career

Glawe was born in 1970, and grew up in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated in 1992 from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Behavioral Science in criminology and certificate from the Harvard University in 2015.[2]

Glawe started his law enforcement career as a police officer with the Houston, Texas and Aurora, Colorado Police Departments. He served as a federal agent with the United States Postal Inspection Service and then as a counter-terrorism special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.In 2007, as an FBI Supervisory Special Agent in the Counterterrorism Division, he served in Iraq and Africa.[2][3]

In 2012 he became Deputy National Intelligence Manager for Threat Finance and Transnational Organized Crime at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.[2] In 2015 he was appointed to serve as the Assistant Commissioner and Chief Intelligence Officer at United States Customs and Border Protection.[4]

He was appointed as the acting Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Intelligence and Analysis by the President Trump on January 23, 2017, and was unanimously confirmed to that position on a permanent basis by the United States Senate on August 3, 2017. He also served briefly in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Homeland Security.[4][5] He was the longest serving Senate-confirmed official in DHS.[3]

Personal life

When Glawe was confirmed he was the highest ranking openly gay LGBTQ U.S. Government Official, the first LGBTQ individual to be nominated by a Republican President, was supported and introduced at his confirmation hearing by the most senior Republican Senator from Iowa, Chuck Grassley, and is the first LGBTQ official to lead a U.S. intelligence organization.

Beyond that, Trump Shuttle only provided service throughout the northeastern United States, so there is no way it would have traveled to Saudi Arabia.

Tower Air, on the other hand, contracted with the Department of Defense to provide charter flights around the time of the Gulf War, according to a New York Times report. Tower Air provided passenger service from New York to Brussels and Tel Aviv, a line previously operated by Metro International Airways, according to the World Airline Directory.

Tower Air officially declared bankruptcy in 2000. At the time, Morris Nachtomi was listed as the airline’s CEO in a New York Post report.

Amazon has taken to court against administrators of more than 10,000 different Facebook groups that were allegedly "used to coordinate fake reviews of Amazon products," according to a new report by the Wall Street Journal this week.

The groups provide people free products or money in exchange for product reviews, Amazon said, which are used to hike product ratings in the hope that more products are sold. The practice takes place not only in the U.S., but also in U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Japan.

Amazon Vice President Dharmesh Mehta called the Amazon action of the review boosting practice “proactive legal action targeting bad actors".

Pentagon, Lockheed Martin agree on $30 bln F-35 jet deal

The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin have agreed on the prices and quantities of new F-35 fighter jets that will be purchased over the next three years as per a company spokesperson.

On Monday, US media reported that the Pentagon and Lockheed Martin had reached an agreement worth approximately $30 billion for 375 F-35 fighter jets.

In a statement, a company spokesperson said later, on Monday, that "through a collaborative effort with the F-35 enterprise, including the Joint Program Office, suppliers, and teammates, we have successfully reached an agreement on Lots 15 through 17."

"In the midst of continued COVID-19 impacts and decreased F-35 quantities, the F-35 enterprise was able to achieve a cost per jet lower than record-breaking inflation trends," the spokesperson added.

Final prices, the number of F-35 jets to be sold, and which countries will purchase the aircraft will be disclosed when the agreement is officially inked, according to the spokesperson.

The handshake agreement comes as the aviation industry gathered for the return of the Farnborough Airshow, hoping for a show of confidence following the devastation of COVID-19.

Lockheed began to warn that the cost of the jet would rise as economies of scale dwindled and supply chains faltered.

A pre-pandemic forecast for this three-year purchase indicated that 485 jets could be included, but the 22 percent volume reduction would undoubtedly affect the overall cost of the F-35A, the most common version of the jet.

A previous three-year "block buy" signed by the Pentagon in 2019 was for 478 F-35 fighter jets, allowing Lockheed to buy larger quantities of components, reducing costs by about 8%, to $34 billion.

According to Lockheed executives, any country with an F-16 jet, the F-35's predecessor, is a potential customer.

It is worth noting that foreign military sales, such as the F-35, are classified as government-to-government transactions in which the Pentagon serves as an intermediary between the defense contractor and a foreign government.

The F-35 jet program accounts for approximately 27% of Lockheed's revenue.

Just 22% don’t think it is likely President Biden was aware of his son’s foreign deals, and 10% are not sure.

"Morally And Intellectually Corrupt": UCLA Prof Resigns In Protest Over 'Viewpoint Intolerance'

Anthropology professor Joseph Manson announced his retirement this month with a broadside blog post that detailed the loss of academic freedom and integrity at UCLA. Manson describes many of the things that I have previously addressed as standard measures used to force out dissenting or conservative voices, including the isolation and investigation of colleagues to get them to resign. He is now among that lengthening list of such faculty who have decided to cut their academic careers short rather than work under such intolerable conditions.

Manson was a tenured professor in the UCLA Anthropology Department, who described in detail how the school made life insufferable for those who raise dissenting voices in research on subjects like racial justice or crime patterns. He wrote “I’m a professor, retiring at 62 because the Woke takeover of higher education has ruined academic life. ‘Another one?’ you ask. “What does this guy have to say that hasn’t already been said by Jordan Peterson, Peter Boghossian, Joshua Katz, or Bo Winegard?”

Manson described how the anthropology department was a healthy and diverse intellectual environmental until the 2000s when things began to change dramatically. It is the same time period identified by others when a critical mass seemed to form on many faculties of professors who began to almost exclusively hire liberal colleagues and shun those with opposing views.

Among the examples of the intolerance on campus, Manson gave a detailed account of the “defenestration of a colleague,” P. Jeffrey Brantingham. His colleague created software to predict urban crime through simulation models. The research was immediately denounced as being racist and anti-Black.

“In Spring 2018, the department’s Anthropology Graduate Students Association passed a resolution accusing Jeff’s research of (among other counter-revolutionary sins) ‘entrench[ing] and naturaliz[ing] the criminalization of Blackness in the United States’ and calling for ‘referring’ his research to UCLA’s Vice Chancellor for Research, presumably for some sort of investigation. This document contains no trace of scholarly argument, but instead resembles a religious proclamation of anathema.”

What caught my eye was Manson’s description of the shunning by his colleagues:

“Not only was Jeff ostracized, he was unpersoned. None of the faculty talked about him, if they could possibly avoid it. Meanwhile, our department chair opened most faculty meetings by solemnly intoning that our department was a community, a family, and that ‘we’re here for each other.’ In private conversations, I was able to elicit from some of my colleagues an embarrassed acknowledgment that the Woke faction had treated Jeff abominably, and that we strongly resembled a dysfunctional family in denial.”

FDA-Approved Brain Computer Interface Company “Synchron” Implants First Brain Device in US Patient

New York-based Synchron, the startup behind an FDA ‘breakthrough neuroprosthesis device,’ successfully implanted its first brain device in a patient in the US earlier this month, Bloomberg first reported.

According to the news outlet, a doctor at Mount Sinai West Medical Center in New York inserted a “1.5-inch-long implant consisting of wires and electrodes into a blood vessel in the brain of an ALS patient” on July 6.

In August 2020, Synchron becomes the first brain-computer interface (BCI) company to receive the FDA’s approval to conduct an investigational device exemption (IDE) clinical trial of a permanently implanted device.

NIH awarded Synchron $10 million to begin a US trial of a brain implant that allows users to manage digital apps using only their thoughts, as reported by Fierce Biotech.

“Our neuroprosthetics are designed to help people get their lives back by restoring lost functions,” Synchron wrote on its website.

According to its website, the product is called brain.io™ – “a motor neuroprosthesis designed to bypass damaged neural pathways in patients with severe paralysis, allowing them to restore motor capabilities including control of digital devices.”

A receiver device implanted in the chest transmits the neural signals to a decoder.

The purpose of the device is to allow the patient to communicate — even after they have lost the ability to move — by using their thoughts to send emails and texts. Bloomberg reported that Synchron has already implanted the device in four patients in Australia who have been able to use the brain implant to send messages on WhatsApp and shop online.

Last year, the startup received permission from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin human trials on six US patients who have been severly paralyzed. In 2019, the company implanted its device into its first human patient in Melbourne, Australia.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s flagship product, Neuralink, has not received approval from the FDA yet.

Musk said the product “will enable someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their mind faster than someone using thumbs”.

On Monday, Elon Musk responded to a tweet and claimed he had already “uploaded his brain to the cloud.”

US sabotaged Venezuelan oil facilities: Ruling party leader

The United States sabotaged state-run Venezuelan oil facilities, United Socialist Party of Venezuela leader Diosdado Cabello said on Tuesday.

Venezuelan Petroleum Minister Tareck El Aissami said Sunday that a gas pipeline for the Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA) energy firm in the northern state of Carabobo was subjected to an attack that triggered a fire at one of its sites.

The country's authorities said last month that there was an attempt at sabotaging the El Palito oil refinery in Carabobo, which could have inflicted "catastrophic damage" on the potentially affected facilities.

A month earlier, a massive fire broke out at the Cardon refinery in the northern state of Falcon in May.

"This is part of the US imperialism policy: attacking oil facilities, sending mercenaries here, some of whom were detained, while others were convicted of the coup attempt and murder in our country. These are US government envoys," Cabello told a press conference in Caracas on Monday.

Cabello then stressed that the recent sabotage carried out at the PDVSA pipelines showed that Washington knows no bounds when it comes to its goal to destabilize the situation in Venezuela.

"Such events should teach us that imperialism does not rest. They would like to see us torn apart and begging for mercy. It will not happen because our nation is not used to it; our nation does not give up," he said.

Cabello stressed that his country's security authorities will respond accordingly to any act of aggression carried out against Venezuela on Venezuelan soil.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro had previously accused outgoing Colombian President Ivan Duque of being implicated in attacks on the oil and electricity infrastructure of Venezuela.

Maduro in early June called on the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela to raise their alert levels in order to face potential threats against the country.

During a promotion ceremony for the professional military personnel of the presidential honor guard and Directorate-General for Combating Military Espionage, Maduro accused the outgoing Colombian President Ivan Duque of taking out vengeance on Venezuela, warning that the country must remain vigilant.

Maduro pointed out in April that Colombian President "Ivan Duque has activated joint plans with criminals and gangs," adding that infiltrating groups of criminals will "attack the police and military first" after crossing the Colombia-Venezuela border.

Venezuela severed diplomatic relations with Colombia in February 2019 after an attempt by opposition activists led by Juan Guaido to truck humanitarian aid across the border. The Venezuelan government said this was an invasion attempt.

EU scrambles to replenish arms stockpiles

A €500 million plan will allow EU members to jointly buy weapons and save money

In what it called a “historic step,” the European Commission agreed on Tuesday to a €500 million ($512 million) plan that would allow EU members to jointly procure weapons to address the urgent need to replenish a defense products deficit stemming from the Ukraine conflict.

The proposal is supposed to incentivize at least three EU members to buy weapons jointly, the body said in a statement. It also seeks to avoid competition among the bloc’s members for the same products and facilitate cost savings. The measure is expected to be financed by EU funds for the next two years.

“Today we are taking a historic step forward in European defense integration. As war rages on at Europe’s borders, we are responding to the call of EU Heads of State by presenting today a new instrument to support … the joint acquisition of weapons,” said Thierry Breton, the EU Commissioner for the Internal Market.

According to him, the move will not only help replenish the stocks that were depleted due to supplies sent to Ukraine, but will also provide an incentive for member states to buy together. The proposal also aims to boost the capabilities of the European defense industrial complex by ramping up its manufacturing capacities.

The announcement comes a day after the EU agreed to allocate an additional 500 million euros in military aid to Ukraine. With the approval of the fifth assistance package, the bloc’s aid to Kiev reached €2.5 billion ($2.5bn).

After Russia launched its military operation in Ukraine, many Western countries – including the EU – pledged to support Kiev in every possible way, including military aid. Moscow, however, has consistently warned the West against providing Ukraine with weapons, arguing that they would only prolong the conflict and create long-term issues.

Other activists have also been pushing to change the way anthropologists treat discovered bodies, The College Fix, an American conservative news website, reported. It noted that a group called the Trans Doe Task Force seeks to “explore ways in which current standards in forensic human identification do a disservice to people who do not clearly fit the gender binary.”

The group’s mission statement proposes “a gender-expansive approach to human identification” by examining found bodies based on “contextual clues” such as clothing “culturally coded to a gender other than their assigned sex.”

University of Kansas Associate Professor Jennifer Raff has also argued that there are “no neat divisions between physically or genetically male or female individuals,” according to the website. Raff suggests that identifying ancient remains only as either male or female is a “duality” concept imposed by Christian colonizers.

Meanwhile, some archeologists are trying to push back against the attempts to inject modern sensitivities into the field. Speaking to The College Fix, San Jose State archaeology Professor Elizabeth Weiss insisted that eliminating gender classifications amounted to “ideologically-motivated fudging” and that it was a step back for science.

Weiss made the point that applying biological sex to remains often helps dispel myths detrimental to women. She provided the example of some early anthropologists mistakenly identifying “robust female skeletons as male skeletons,” thus reinforcing “false stereotypes that females were not as hard-working as males.”

“Over time, biological anthropologists and archaeologists worked hard to determine which traits are determined by sex, regardless of time and culture. This new policy of erasing this progress is a step back for science and women,” she was cited as saying.

She added that “Sexing skeletal remains is a critical skill in forensics and any diminishing of this skill will negatively impact criminal investigations, denying the victims and their families justice.”

“This is just another attempt to insert a current woke ideology where it doesn’t belong,” Weiss concluded.

President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has created an “Office of Health Security” for illegal aliens in the agency’s custody.

On Tuesday, Biden’s DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced the creation of the agency’s Office of Health Security to “pioneer best-in-class workforce health, safety, work-life and wellness programs, and suitable, timely care for noncitizens in our care and custody.”

“Over the past several years, Americans have faced a series of unprecedented challenges impacting their health security, from the pandemic to natural disasters and more,” Mayorkas said in a statement. “Our Department must be prepared to adapt to an ever-expanding, dynamic, and complex public health threat landscape. The creation of the Health Security Office comes while the Biden administration continues releasing tens of thousands of border crossers into the United States interior every month without testing them for the Chinese coronavirus.

Even when border crossers are COVID-19 tested, they are released into the United States interior regardless of their test results, sources close to Breitbart News say. Meanwhile, DHS personnel have been required to get vaccinated or be subjected to weekly COVID-19 testing.

For much of last year, Biden’s DHS continuously released COVID-positive border crossers into American communities with the help of left-wing non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

The operation was expanded so greatly that Biden eventually began flying border crossers into American communities without requiring COVID-19 testing or photo IDs to board flights.

What arms is 'Israel' selling Morocco?

Israeli occupation forces Chief of General Staff Aviv Kochavi landed in Morocco on Monday in his first official visit to Rabat since the North African Arab state normalized ties with the occupation in 2020.

"Israel" and Morocco have had covert security ties for decades, the Israeli Haaretz newspaper said.

The occupation's Mossad intelligence agency was operating in Rabat, the newspaper added. After the 1967 war, "Tel Aviv" sold its surplus of French arms and military equipment to Morocco, especially tanks and artillery systems.

According to the Israeli outlet, Israeli military experts went to Morocco to help Rabat against the Polisario Front fighting for the independence of Western Sahara.

Kochavi had pointed out that there were developments in the ties between "Israel" and Morocco, especially after it was agreed that the Israeli occupation forces participate as observers in the international military exercises in Morocco.

Nord Stream to restart on schedule – Reuters

Natural gas flow to Germany will resume on Thursday after maintenance is completed, sources told the agency

Russia will resume natural gas deliveries via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline as scheduled, once annual maintenance work is completed on Thursday, Reuters has reported, citing its sources.

The infrastructure, a key transporter of gas to Germany, was shut down for maintenance last week, with many in the West fearing that the flow would not be resumed. Earlier on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the European Commission did not expect the pipeline to restart on the target date of July 21.

Both stories are based on anonymous sources.

Last month, Gazprom reduced gas flow by 60%, blaming Canada’s failure to return a turbine following repairs. The equipment has since been reported to be on the way to Russia.

According to Reuters, gas flow will resume at the level seen before the shutdown, at less than full capacity of some 160 million cubic metres (mcm) per day.

Moscow has repeatedly said it remains a reliable supplier of natural gas and will stick to its contractual obligations to customers.
