Actually, the reason for the seasons is because Earth is tilted on its axis. Towards the sun, then away from the sun, determines Earth's seasons. If Earth was not tilted on its axis, there would be no changing of seasons.

The way I see it, in the big scheme of things, the amount of time that people, with a spiritual soul, starting with Adam, have been around, has been a relatively short time in comparison with the amount of time, as we measure it, that God took to Create the Universe. The creation of Time & Space & Matter started the ball rolling. Probably millions of what we would call years ago.

We actually have a genealogical record of Adam to Noah, and of Noah to Jesus, which was only 2000 years ago. A drop in the bucket of time in the matter of all of the Universe.
