imo

They scout out someone with some talent,

then they groom them into their cult.

Bribes and blackmail keep them under their control, and keep them doing their bidding.

Everything they do and say is regulated.

All of these "entertainers" are owned and controlled.

If they don't tow the line, they are punished, possibly even sacrificed.

Some are just trapped and can't get out.

But others embrace the evil that they are a part of.

And like Q said, some are born into it.

Generational.

It seems you are correct.

Never knew that before.

Always thought the expression was about towing an item with a rope (or a line) like a fishing line.

Learn something new every day.

When you take everything away from someone and then you give a little bit back to them, they are grateful.

That is how they are manipulating people.

Control via manipulation.

Like when a jewelry store marks up their merchandise 400% and then has a sale of 20% off, people think they are getting a bargain.

"Oh, I bought this on sale, look how much I saved."

They've been playing this game for a long time.
