Despite claiming not to get involved again, the Facebook founderโ€™s group is doubling down on its election interference.

 

The Center for Tech and Civic Life โ€“ a nonprofit group that controversially used funds from Mark Zuckerberg to boost turnout for Democrats in the 2020 election โ€“ launched a new $80 million initiative targeting local election departments.

 

Under the leadership of Tiana Epps-Johnson, the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) overruled local election officials and increase turnout in almost exclusively Democratic districts through mail-in voting in 2020. Proving the partisan conflict of interest, the CTCL supported many election officesโ€™ shifts to vote-by-mail and allegedly accessed mail-in ballots ahead of the election using funds from the Facebook founderโ€™s Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.

 

Though the group purports to be nonpartisan, following several exposรฉs into the groupโ€™s left-wing bias, the CTCL appears to be launching a new $80 million initiative to extend its influence over Americaโ€™s election departments.

 

Announced in April of 2022, the U.S. Alliance for Election Excellence is described as a โ€œnonpartisan collaborative that is bringing together election officials, designers, technologists, and other experts to help local election departments improve operations, develop a set of shared standards and values, and obtain access to best-in-class resources to run successful elections.โ€

 

The allianceโ€™s website provides scant details on how it plans to accomplish its aforementioned goals.

 

Local election departments appear to be able to apply to become a โ€œCenter for Election Excellenceโ€ and, if approved, will receive funding from the alliance.

 

โ€œDuring the first year of the program, weโ€™re identifying local election departments who want to join the Alliance and serve as a support system for each other and for other election departments across the country. Affidavit could provide a mechanism to impose criminal liability on the SCOTUS leaker

When the draft opinion overturning the landmark case of Roe v. Wade was leaked, various legal scholars were at odds about whether the leak constituted a criminal offense.

 

As reported by The Washington Times:

 

โ€œSome have said it could be theft of government property or obstruction of justice in trying to change the outcome of the ruling. Others have said Supreme Court documents arenโ€™t protected by confidentiality laws like other areas of government.โ€

 

While the answer to this question remains unclear, the Supreme Court recently took another step that could potentially make it easier to impose criminal liability on the leaker(s). According to CNN, the court is asking clerks to provide cell phone records and sign affidavits.

 

While the request for cell phone records could face obstacles on privacy and other grounds, the affidavit is another story altogether. Pursuant to 18 U.S.C. 1001:

 

(a) Except as otherwise provided in this section, whoever, in any matter within the jurisdiction of the executive, legislative, or judicial branch of the Government of the United States, knowingly and willfullyโ€”

 

(2) makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation;

 

shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 5 years or, if the offense involves international or domestic terrorism (as defined in section 2331), imprisoned not more than 8 years, or both. If the matter relates to an offense under chapter 109A, 109B, 110, or 117, or section 1591, then the term of imprisonment imposed under this section shall be not more than 8 years.

 

Therefore, if someone, for example, makes a materially false statement, this law imposes penalties that include the possibility of imprisonment. This is a positive step in that it creates a mechanism by which to impose criminal penalties on the person or persons responsible for this egregious act.

 

Despite the request, is it unclear whether any clerks will voluntarily agree to sign an affidavit. While the refusal to do so would have no legal bearing, it could certainly raise some eyebrows.

 

After all, why would someone refuse to cooperate or help identify the person(s) responsible for one of the biggest breaches ever to impact the Supreme Court? This despicable act tarnished the sanctity of the Supreme Court.

 

To help restore the courtโ€™s image and rebuild the requisite level of trust, those who work within its walls should do everything possible to help locate and identify the perpetrator(s).

Mike Tyson Podcast With Alex Jones Censored After Pressure From Big Tech

 

A much hyped interview that was set to be broadcast on boxing legend Mike Tysonโ€™s Hotboxinโ€™ podcast with Alex Jones was censored after Tysonโ€™s production company reportedly came under pressure from Big Tech and other outside groups.

 

Tyson reached out to Jones in early April, telling him that he was a listener and a fan before inviting him to appear on his iconic podcast.

 

Jones and his team then flew out to meet Tyson and his production team before filming what was set to be a groundbreaking interview.

 

During the conversation, Jones and Tyson covered a multitude of deep and thought provoking issues, no doubt helped by mushrooms and pot consumed during the podcast.

 

Although Jones and Tyson immediately hit it off and the podcast went well, during the interview, Tyson pointed at two or three people in his production crew who he said had warned him that Jones was a โ€œvillainโ€ and not to give him a platform.

 

While the people in Tysonโ€™s production crew who Jones personally dealt with were pleasant and enthusiastic, it appears as though others were more nervous about the podcast.

 

Over a month went by without the podcast airing, during which time Tyson facetimed Jones and assured him that the episode would be uploaded soon.

 

However, the very next day one of Tysonโ€™s assistants called to reveal that although the production crew were fighting to have it released, the production company itself had caved and decided to censor the interview.

 

It was also revealed that the reason for doing so was that the production company had come under pressure from YouTube and other outside interest groups that demanded the podcast never see the light of day.

Former Olympic swim coach Dick Caine charged over historical sexual abuse allegations

 

Renowned swimming coach Dick Caine has been charged over the alleged sexual abuse of young teenage athletes he was training.

The 76-year-old was arrested at a home in Condell Park, in Sydney's south-west, about 7am today and taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with nine offences.

The charges relate to the alleged abuse of two teenage students at a swim school at Carss Park, in Sydney's south, in the 1970s.

 

The first report was made by a woman last January who said she was targeted while she was a student at a swim school in the mid-1970s.

Strike Force Coco was established by officers from Kings Cross and the investigation uncovered further allegations of another teenage girl being abused at the same swim school.

Acting Superintendent Chris Nicholson from NSW Police said police will allege the girls were aged 16 and 17 at the time of the alleged offences.

He said the alleged assaults took place "in a number of locations in and around the southern Sydney area".

"I want to stress that these allegations are very serious but the investigation is ongoing," Nicholson added.

 

Caine has been charged with nine offences - six counts of carnal knowledge by a teacher of a girl aged 10-17, and three counts of indecent assault.

 

He has been refused bail and will face court later today.

 

Nicholson also spoke about the "courage and bravery" of the alleged victims, and had a message for other survivors.

"I would like to say to all survivors of sexual abuse living in our community that the NSW Police Force wants to listen to your story," he said.

"What today should show is that whether the NSW Police Force receives an allegation of sexual violence that occurred yesterday, or last week, or last year or 50 years ago, that we will investigate all matters that come to our attention with our full potential and we will wrap our full support around victim-survivors as they tell their story."

A new report finds the Shroud of Turin dates back to the era of the earthly ministry of Jesus, contradicting 1988 evidence that dated the cloth as being centuries newer.

A new scientific procedure says fabric in the shroud is about 2,000 years old, according to a Christian Broadcasting Network report last week.

The study also analyzed traces of pollen on the shroud.

โ€œThe pollen samples that were gathered they, a lot of them, are from plants that are native to not just the Middle East, but specifically the area around Judea, Palestine, and Syria and stay where it was in that time period,โ€ said Brian Hyland, an exhibit curator at the Museum of the Bible, according to CBN.

โ€œThereโ€™s also pollen from the area around Constantinople. Thereโ€™s a lot of pollen from Europe,โ€ he said.

According to CBN, that suggests the shroud had traveled from the Holy Land through what are now Turkey and France to its current home in Italy, where it has been since the 16th century.

Hyland noted that the Shroud of Turin has been controversial ever since the world became aware of its existence. The shroud first came to attention in 1354, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica.

โ€œThere have been questions about the veracity of this image ever since its first documented appearance in the late 14th century,โ€ he said.

Carbon testing in 1988 claimed the shroud was a medieval creation, but that ruling has skeptics.

โ€œThe only single sample they took did not represent anywhere else on the cloth because it had been manipulated,โ€ said Barrie Schwortz, a photographer who had taken images of the shroud in the 1970s, according to CBN.

Schwortz, who is Jewish, pushed back on claims the shroud was a creation of Leonardo DaVinci.

โ€œThe Shroud has been publicly shown 100 years before da Vinci was born. He was a good artist, but it wasnโ€™t that good,โ€ Schwortz told CBN.

Schwortz said that until he saw the shroud, he was โ€œbiased against it.โ€

โ€œI even said, somewhere along the line to somebody that, you know, weโ€™ll get to Turin, weโ€™ll give it five minutes, weโ€™ll find the paint, weโ€™ll come home, weโ€™ll be done,โ€ he said.

There is no paint on the cloth, however.

British filmmaker David Rolfe said that in a new film, โ€œWho Can He Be,โ€ his team produced a 3D image from data that was pulled from the fabric.

โ€œWe can see what I believe to be the body of the crucified Jesus in front of us,โ€ he said, according to CBN.

โ€œThe only way that the image couldโ€™ve got on to that cloth is a miraculous one. A miracle that emanated from the body with unbelievable amounts of energy but within an infinitesimally short space of time,โ€ he said.

UK poised to send first asylum seekers to Africa

Courts are hearing last-minute appeals against 30 deportations, with thefirst flight to Rwanda slated for Tuesday

 

The High Court of Justice and The Court of Appeal in London are hearing last-minute legal challenges to a new British government policy, under which asylum seekers are to be deported to Rwanda while their applications are being processed.

 

The first flight to the Central African country is expected to leave on Tuesday while refugee charity, Asylum Aid, is presenting arguments before the High Court on Monday.

 

The group insists that the governmentโ€™s scheme, which gives asylum seekers a week to obtain legal counsel and to present their case to avoid deportation, is unjust.

 

Objections to the policy are also being mounted in the Court of Appeal by two more human rights groups and a trade union. The last-ditch attempts come shortly after a judge refused activistsโ€™ requests for an injunction to block the first deportation flight. The High Court sided with the government, arguing that there was a โ€œmaterial public interestโ€ to allow the scheme to go ahead.

 

While the British government has not released the details of the first 30 asylum seekers it wants to send to Rwanda, charities claim that Syrian and Afghan nationals are among them.

 

In mid-April, Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled a deal, under which Rwanda would house migrants seeking asylum in Britain in exchange for a down payment of ยฃ120 million ($148 million).

 

London will also pick up the tab for the migrantsโ€™ accommodation and integration, as clarified by the Home Office.

 

โ€œOur new Migration and Economic Development Partnership will mean that anyone entering the UK illegally โ€“ as well as those who have arrived illegally since January 1st โ€“ may now be relocated to Rwanda,โ€ the British PM announced at the time.

 

Johnson argued that the scheme would deal a severe blow to people-smugglers, while taking the heat off Britainโ€™s social services.

 

Despite Johnson insisting that Rwanda was โ€œone of the safest countries in the world,โ€ critics were left unconvinced, with the Refugee Council group branding the scheme as โ€œcruel and nasty.โ€ The Labour party was also quick to pick holes in the plan, which it said was โ€œextortionate as well as unworkable & unethical.โ€

 

According to the UKโ€™s Times newspaper, it is not only the opposition and rights groups, that are highly critical of the scheme, but also Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne.

 

The royal reportedly described the governmentโ€™s plan as โ€œappallingโ€ over the weekend.

 

When asked for comment, a spokesperson for Prince Charles did not deny he had voiced personal opinions about the policy, noting, however, that the royal remained โ€œpolitically neutral,โ€ in keeping with Britainโ€™s unwritten constitution.

Steve Bannon Strikes Back Hard in Fight Against Contempt of Congress Charges

Steve Bannon, who helped usher Donald Trump to power during the 2016 election, is currently facing two charges of contempt of Congress. Bannon, who has been targeted by the January 6th committee, refused to testify and to produce documents. Joe Bidenโ€™s DOJ eventually moved forward with prosecution after the committee recommended charges.

 

That stands in stark contrast to the treatment of Eric Holder and Louise Lerner, both of which were held in contempt of Congress by majority votes in the House during the Obama administration. Neither was ever actually charged with a crime because the justice system is so clearly two-tiered.

 

Bannon isnโ€™t going down without a fight, though. According to CNN,he and his team have now issued subpoenas for multiple Democrats, including Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer.

 

Steve Bannon, set to go to trial next month for defying a congressional subpoena, has subpoenaed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and members of the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection as he builds his defenseโ€ฆ

 

โ€ฆLast week, Bannonโ€™s legal team subpoenaed 16 lawmakers and congressional staffers to testify at the July trial and produce documents, according to one of Bannonโ€™s attorneys and copies of the subpoenas provided to CNN. The subpoenas were aimed at all nine members of the select committee, three committee staffers and General Counsel for the House of Representatives Douglas Letter. Bannon also subpoenaed House Democratic leadership, including Pelosi, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Rep. Jim Clyburn.

 

CNN found a legal โ€œexpertโ€ to comment on the move, and he supposes that itโ€™ll be hard for Bannon to compel the testimony of the Congressional members because of the Speech and Debate clause. Whether thatโ€™s actually true, Iโ€™m not sure, and I wonโ€™t claim to have an answer. Obviously, mainstream media outlets can find โ€œexpertsโ€ to tell them anything they want to hear.

 

Still, given that Bannonโ€™s defense will likely rest on whether Pelosi and Hoyer followed proper procedure in setting up the committee, this might be a situation where they may be forced to appear. The subject at hand isnโ€™t about anything the congressional members in question said. Rather, itโ€™s about whether Bannon can be held in contempt of a committee that may be illegal as currently constituted.

 

For my part, I think this entire thing is a joke. Contempt of Congress is never enforced, but suddenly, because itโ€™s a Trump associate, the DOJ is going to go hard? That strikes me as blatantly political, and as I noted earlier, itโ€™s more evidence that the justice system is two-tiered. If you are a Democrat and an elite, you can do essentially anything you want. If you are a Republican, youโ€™ll not only get charged in situations no one else would be charged but youโ€™ll likely be found guilty because of the DC jury pool (a city that voted 92.5 percent for Joe Biden).

 

Do we really want a system where political leanings dictate whether youโ€™ll end up spending thousands of dollars in court defending yourself? Or worse, whether you end up in jail? Unfortunately, far too many on the left are comfortable with that, being so sure that the alligator wonโ€™t eat them. Perhaps they are right,but one day Republicans will be back in charge. When that happens, payback needs to be swift. (If they dont fight now, it might never happen)

I've been doing some research with R vs W and I find one conflicting piece of information pretty curious.

Joshua Prager (who spent years getting to know Norma and family to write a book) when talking about whether Norma was paid to convert to Evangelical Christianity and present an anti-abortion stance, claims that she was never paid a cent and that he saw her taxes as proof.

Now, I can't find much of a reason for Mr. Prager to lie, and so out of curiosity decided to Google and find more information on Rob Schnek. First thing I found interesting is that no matter what you Google, the only stories you'll find are about his "heroic" change in stance on abortion. But there's one fact on his movie's website and Wikipedia that told me everything I needed to know.

So we have Norma, a pretty unstable individual who lied about being raped in order to skirt abortion laws which led to her to being the plaintiff in a case that would change federal law to protect abortions through the Supreme Court.

And then we have Rob Schnek who works with top level government officials who has a huge sudden change of heart on abortion and confesses to paying Norma to read a script and claim to be anti-abortion. The same Norma who spent years with Joshua Prager and apparently showed/convinced him with what he considered proof that she wasn't paid a dime to speak out against abortion.

 

If you do enough digging, you can also find some statements from Sarah Weddington that she had to be careful with R v W because she didn't always feel like Norma was always telling the truth and had to be sure to only present information that she should could confirm.

 

The more I try to piece together the history of this case, the more sketched out I am about Norma in general. Something seems pretty off with her and her involvement in all of this. Oh, and at the end of it all, she got two book deals to tell her story. Why do they always get book deals? Something doesn't feel on the up-and-up here.
