UTAH COUNTY, Utah — The FOX 13 Investigative team has spoken with more than a half-dozen past and present members of the Utah County Attorney’s Office who are “deeply concerned” with what they describe as unethical behavior by their boss.

 

Last week, Utah County Attorney David Leavitt was accused of inappropriately dismissing a stalking charge against a campaign donor who also served an LDS mission with Leavitt’s brother.

 

Employees now say Leavitt asked members of the office to go easy on a “handyman” who did masonry work at the county attorney’s family home in Orem.

 

Dale Bowles has been booked into the Utah County Jail more than 40 times, according to a jail spokesperson.

 

Leavitt said he first prosecuted Bowles in his previous role as Juab County Attorney. The two eventually reacquainted and Leavitt invited him to work at his home in Utah County.

Clarence Thomas: Court ‘should reconsider’ gay marriage, birth control

 

Justice Clarence Thomas called for potentially overturning Supreme Court rulings that protect gay marriage and access to birth control in an opinion concurrent to Friday’s landmark decision ending federal abortion rights.

 

The conservative judge wrote that the court should “reconsider” other cases that fall under the court’s previous “due process” precedents, which include rulings that establish LGBTQ and contraceptive rights.

 

“In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell,” he wrote.

 

The 74-year-old justice was referring to a 1965 ruling, Griswold v. Connecticut, that allows married couples to access birth control. He’s also referencing a 2003 ruling, Lawrence v. Texas, that forbids states from outlawing consensual gay sex, and Obergefell v. Hodges, a 2015 decision that established the right to same-sex marriage.

 

Substantive due process refers to the notion that people have fundamental rights that aren’t specifically established in the constitution.

 

The same legal argument was also used in Roe v. Wade and its sister case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which in 1992 upheld the right to abortion.

 

In the opinion Friday, Thomas acknowledged that the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision does not directly affect any rights aside from federal abortion access.

 

But he urged the court to apply the same “Due Process Clause” logic to other substantive landmark cases.

 

“Because any substantive due process decision is ‘demonstrably erroneous,’ we have a duty to ‘correct the error’ established in those precedents,” he wrote.

 

On Friday, the Supreme Court ended nearly 50 years of federal abortion rights, with Justice Samuel Alito writing an opinion in favor of Mississippi in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health.

 

In his opinion, Alito stressed that the ruling not be used to roll back any other constitutional right besides abortion.

 

“To ensure that our decision is not misunderstood or mischaracterized, we emphasize that our decision concerns the constitutional right to abortion and no other right,

 

Justice Brett Kavanaugh added,” Nothing in this opinion should be understood to cast doubt on precedents that do not concern abortion.”

A large fire broke out on Sunday eve at an industrial complex in Haifa, occupied Palestine, which houses hazardous materials and is located near residential buildings, the Israeli "Israel" Hayom newspaper reported Sunday morning, noting that there were no casualties.

 

"Firefighters from the Haifa fire station as well as teams from other brigades are working on controlling the blaze," the newspaper said. "There are reports about explosions amid the fire, and three people have been rescued after they did not wake up from the blaze."

 

Israeli media is yet to be able to confirm what exactly was stored in the complex's buildings, but some explosions erupted with light-colored flames, which suggests the presence of chemicals that could potentially be highly dangerous.

 

Israeli media reported on June 11 the mysterious outbreak of fire in 18 buses at a central station in the city of Safed in Al-Jalil, northern occupied Palestine.

 

Media outlets reported that firefighters put out the fire with no reported injuries, without any further detail on the incident.

 

Some outlets pointed out that the occupation suspected that the fire was premeditated and that the reasons were under examination, while the Safed Municipality stated that "the matter is related to a criminal act."

"This administration believes children belong to them, not parents, and wants to ensure the next generation is confused about its gender," said Marc Little.

 

The Biden administration's controversial new mandate tying school lunch funds to the implementation of its transgender policies will primarily hurt low-income and minority students, according to experts and community activists.

 

"Holding the lunch money of low-income and underprivileged kids hostage in order to advance a woke gender orthodoxy shows precisely the lengths to which the president will go to ensure his pet policies on 'gender identity' are rammed through American lunchrooms, classrooms, bathrooms, dorm rooms, and sports teams," said Sarah Parshall Perry, senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation.

 

Perry was referring to the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), an agency within the Department of Agriculture (USDA), announcing last month that it will extend its interpretation of prohibitions on sex-based discrimination contained in Title IX to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

 

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 forbids sex-based discrimination in any educational institution that receives federal money.

 

Because the USDA provides federally subsidized school lunches nationwide, schools will now need to comply with the administration's LGBTQ policies in order to maintain the federal funding.

 

Schools that receive funds from FNS must also "investigate allegations of discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation," the agency said in its announcement. "Those organizations must also update their non-discrimination policies and signage to include prohibitions against discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation."

 

The USDA manages the National School Lunch Program, which fed about 30 million students a day before the COVID-19 pandemic upended school schedules. Under the program, low-income children are eligible to receive reduced-price or free meals at school.

 

The new interpretation of Title IX will mean that schools can lose funding for such programs if they don't implement transgender-inclusive policies, which often include rules allowing transgender students to use the bathroom and locker room of their preferred gender.

 

"This is child abuse and social engineering that school districts and parents have to stand up to," said Marc Little, a California-based lawyer and pastor who started a charter school in Los Angeles comprised of mainly black and Hispanic students. "The harm will beset children of color in particular."

 

While researchers and federal auditors have long documented the waste and inefficiencies in federal meal programs, studies also show they can improve the health and classroom performance of students.

The driver of a Ford F-15O told police that he was driving on Wilshire Boulevard when he saw what he believed was a man pointing a gun at him, KTLA-TV reported.

 

 

The man said he swerved to avoid the alleged gunman but lost control of the vehicle and struck numerous vendors and people crowded on the sidewalk, the TV station reported.

 

 

The Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed to KABC-TV that no gun was ever seen.

 

 

According to officials with the Los Angeles Fire Department, the driver, his passenger and all of the people struck on the sidewalk suffered minor injuries, the TV station reported.

 

 

In a statement released Saturday afternoon, the LAPD confirmed that one of the sidewalk victims was a man, three were women, one was an 8-year-old girl and another was an 8-year-old boy.

 

 

“Two male adults and one female adult refused any additional medical treatment,” the LAPD stated.

 

 

The driver was neither impaired nor arrested, police confirmed to KABC.

Russia not to blame for global food crisis – Putin

 

Russia is ready to aid in transporting Ukrainian grain but the western sanctions make it impossible, the Russian president has said

 

Restrictions imposed by the US and its allies against Russia and Belarus will only exacerbate the looming global food crisis by affecting fertilizer trade and sending the food prices further up, Russian President Vladimir Putin says.

 

In a special TV interview on Friday evening, following a meeting with African leaders in Sochi, Putin accused Western leaders of trying "to shift the responsibility for what is happening in the world food market."

 

The root causes of the crisis lie with the US financial policies during the Covid-19 pandemic and Europe's over-reliance on renewables and short-term gas contracts, which have led to price hikes and rising inflation, Putin has said.

 

The unfavorable situation on the world's food market did not begin to take shape yesterday, or even from the moment Russia launched the special military operation in the Donbass and Ukraine.

 

"It began to take shape as early as February 2020 in the process of combating the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic," he added.

 

High gas prices, which came as a result of under-investment in the traditional energy sector, have forced many fertilizer producers to shut down their businesses because of unprofitability, the Russian president has argued. Such developments have shrunk the fertilizer supply, which, in turn, has sent the food prices up, he added.

 

Yet, instead of making some real steps to remedy the situation, the western nations just pin the blame on Moscow, Putin has said. The Russian president has dismissed all claims that Moscow is preventing the Ukrainian grain from being exported to other nations as a “bluff.” He has also said that Russia is ready to increase its own grain export up to 50 million tons.

 

Putin has pointed to the fact that there are several ways to safely transport the grain from the Ukrainian territory, including through Poland and Hungary. He has also said that the Russian forces are about to finish demining the areas of the Black Sea it controls to facilitate safe transfer of goods through the Azov and Black Seas.

 

The Russian leader has also called the Belarus transport route “the cheapest way” of making the Ukrainian grain reach the customers around the world. Yet, using it would require western nations to lift sanctions they imposed against Minsk, he has added.

 

Earlier on Friday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has told the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres that Belarus is ready to transport the Ukrainian grain to the European ports by rail but it would require those ports to be able to accept wares from Belarus, which is currently impossible because of sanctions.

 

“To create the conditions for the transit of the Ukrainian grain, the ports that would serve as shipping points should be able to load and unload Belarusian goods,” Lukashenko has said.

 

Guterres, in turn, has said that he would discuss the issue with the leaders of the relevant nations in the coming days.

Family of Ranch for Kids Student Files Lawsuit

State authorities in July removed 27 children from private youth program in Rexford amid abuse allegations

The family of a student who attended a therapeutic boarding school in Rexford, which state officials shut down amid allegations of abuse, has filed a lawsuit seeking damages against the youth program’s directors and staff.

Officials with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) in July removed 27 children from the Ranch for Kids, a private alternative youth program in Rexford, alleging “egregious, chronic and persistent child abuse and neglect.” Department officials suspended the facility’s operational license and described instances of pervasive physical and psychological abuse at the Ranch for Kids, including reports of staff hitting, kicking, body slamming, and spitting on the children in their care.

The nonprofit program’s owner has denied or disputed the state’s allegations and has requested a hearing with DPHHS challenging the license suspension; however, Ranch for Kids officials did not respond to a request for comment on the lawsuit.

In the federal lawsuit filed Oct. 7 in U.S. District Court in Missoula, the family of a former Ranch for Kids student describes allegations that mirror the state’s and seeks damages exceeding $75,000 against defendants William Sutley, owner and operator of the facility; Daniel Sutley, vice president and treasurer of the Ranch; and Joyce Sterkel, whom the lawsuit identifies as the secretary and a presiding officer at Ranch for Kids.

The lawsuit identifies the plaintiff, Rachelle Limewood, of Spokane, Washington, as the parent and guardian of the former student, a minor identified only by the initials “D.O.”

According to the complaint, D.O. was, among other things, “subjected to extended periods of social isolation, sometimes for days and weeks on end, was subjected to an unhealthy diet, experienced mental and physical abuse, and was exploited for labor at the Individual Defendants’ personal homes.”

The allegations detailed in the lawsuit mirror those described by state officials.

Leading up to the removal of students from Ranch for Kids, state officials say they obtained information including allegations of students being physically hit, kicked, body slammed and spit on by staff; staff inflicting persistent psychological abuse on children; staff using excessive discipline, including requiring 15-20 mile walks on remote U.S. Forest Service roads in harsh conditions, with improper or no shoes, withholding food, shooting a nail gun at a student, and prolonged isolation; children not receiving medical attention when it was critically needed; and medications not properly administered, stored, or regulated.

Beginning July 1, a new state law transferred authority of the Private Alternative Adolescent Residential and Outdoor Program to DPHHS. Prior to July 1, DPHHS did not have licensing authority over these programs.

A series of stories on private alternative treatment programs by the Missoulian shed light on the lack of oversight and helped prompt the legislative changes.

For years, the Ranch for Kids operated without a license, arguing it was exempt from state requirements because it was an adjunct ministry. In 2013, a district court judge ruled against the ranch, ending its long-running dispute with the state Department of Labor and Industry.

Ranch for Kids bills itself as a respite care home that takes in adopted children from around the world — especially Russia— who are experiencing problems at home, often due to fetal alcohol-related issues.

More Than 1,000 Monkeypox Cases Reported to WHO: Briefing

 

There have been more than 1,000 monkeypox cases reported to the World Health Organization in the current outbreak outside the countries in Africa where it more commonly spreads.

 

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the risk of monkeypox becoming established in these non-endemic countries was real but preventable at this point.

 

Twenty-nine countries have reported cases in the current outbreak, which began in May. None have reported deaths.

 

At a media briefing in Geneva, Tedros also said there had been more than 1,400 suspected cases of monkeypox this year in Africa and 66 deaths.

 

“It’s an unfortunate reflection of the world we live in that the international community is only now paying attention to monkeypox because it has appeared in high-income countries,” he said.

 

He said the outbreak was showing signs of community transmission in some countries. WHO recommends people with monkeypox isolate at home.

 

Rosamund Lewis, WHO technical lead on monkeypox, said that “interpersonal close contact” was the main way monkeypox spreads, although she added that the risk of aerosol transmission was not yet fully known. Health workers caring for monkeypox patients should wear a mask, she said.

 

Cases are still predominantly among men who have sex with men, the WHO added, although cases in women have been reported.

 

The U.N. agency is working with organizations including UN AIDS and community groups to raise awareness and stop transmission.

 

Post-exposure vaccination, including for health workers or close contacts, including sexual partners—ideally within four days of exposure—may be considered for some countries, WHO added. The vaccines being used are designed against smallpox, a related, more dangerous virus that the world eradicated in 1980, but also work to protect against monkeypox, studies have shown.

 

WHO senior official Sylvie Briand said the agency is assessing the potency of vaccines stockpiled against smallpox and contacting manufacturers and countries who have previously pledged vaccines.

Psychological warfare, according to the Rand Corporation, “involves the planned use of propaganda and other psychological operations to influence the opinions, emotions, attitudes, and behavior of opposition groups.”

 

For years now, the government has been bombarding the citizenry with propaganda campaigns and psychological operations aimed at keeping us compliant, easily controlled and supportive of the police state’s various efforts abroad and domestically.

 

The government is so confident in its Orwellian powers of manipulation that it’s taken to bragging about them. Just recently, for example, the U.S. Army’s 4th Psychological Operations Group, the branch of the military responsible for psychological warfare, released a recruiting video that touts its efforts to pull the strings, turn everything they touch into a weapon, be everywhere, deceive, persuade, change, influence, and inspire.

 

This is the danger that lurks in plain sight.

 

Of the many weapons in the government’s vast arsenal, psychological warfare may be the most devastating in terms of the long-term consequences.

 

As the military journal Task and Purpose explains, “Psychological warfare is all about influencing governments, people of power, and everyday citizens… PSYOP soldiers’ key missions are to influence ‘emotions, notices, reasoning, and behavior of foreign governments and citizens,’ ‘deliberately deceive’ enemy forces, advise governments, and provide communications for disaster relief and rescue efforts.”

 

Yet don’t be fooled into thinking these psyops (psychological operations) campaigns are only aimed at foreign enemies. The government has made clear in word and deed that “we the people” are domestic enemies to be targeted, tracked, manipulated, micromanaged, surveilled, viewed as suspects, and treated as if our fundamental rights are mere privileges that can be easily discarded.

 

Aided and abetted by technological advances and scientific experimentation, the government has been subjecting the American people to “apple-pie propaganda” for the better part of the last century.

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm violated the Hatch Act during a 2021 Instagram Live interview with "Marie Claire" magazine, according to a report by the U.S. Office of Special Counsel.

 

The federal law bars some federal government employees from using their official authority or influence to impact the results of an election.

 

During the interview in October 2021, Granholm was asked: "How do we get involved in this moment to make sure we pass these things?"

 

The interviewer was discussing policies that she said were "of particular interest to women, and for which women had 'marched' in the past, and how Congress is trying to pass legislation to enact some of those policies," according to the report.

 

Granholm responded:

 

"The good news is that … marching and that voting gave Democrats a bare majority, but a majority, in the House in the Senate. Since the interview, Granholm has received appropriate training and the office has advised her that any future violations will be considered "willful and knowing violation of the law, which could result in further action."

Hello and Welcome,

 

First let me start off by thanking you for visiting our website and taking the time to learn more about us and the organization known as Comite De Bien Estar Inc. Comite De Bien Estar is a multifaceted community development organization that strives to both improve and serve our community of San Luis Arizona and its surrounding areas. Comité works to empower residents to help them overcome the many barriers they face, including very low wages, little access to conventional mortgage financing and to overcome environmental limitations that impact their quality of life. Founded mostly by farm workers in 1979 and incorporated in 1981, Comité is a membership driven non-profit that focuses on helping members build assets and strengthen the community through programs that fill needs in the community such as: Nutrition program, Self Help Housing, Construction, Low Income Tax Credit Based Apartment Housing Management and Development, Small consumer & entrepreneurial loans and many more needed services.

 

Comité is located in San Luis, Arizona. San Luis is a town of about 30,000 people in Yuma County in the southwestern corner of the state where agriculture is the major industry. The city is just across the river from California and borders with San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora Mexico, population 250,000, many of its residents work in multinational maquiladoras or agriculture. During the height of the Yuma harvesting season, 30,000 to 40,000 farm workers cross the border each morning to go to work making the San Luis US Border Crossing one of the busiest in the country.

 

The public schools that its land development makes possible; the training it provides for young people and adults; the work ethic it cultivates; the skills it imparts to entire families building self-help housing and the self-help culture Comite promotes makes me feel it will improve the life of its members and community. As an example, Comite’s nutrition program supports more than 360 daycare providers to provide nutritious meals for approximately 2160 children each month. The Nutrition program is the 4th largest program of its kind in the State of Arizona.

 

As an organization we have grown and expanded over the last 37 years but have always kept our promises and our culture of improving and strengthening our community together. We are working to improve ourselves along with our communities while looking forward to a better future.

Germany to send PzH 2000 howitzers to Ukraine

 

In response to Ukraine's pleas for more heavy weaponry, Germany will send Kiev two to three more self-propelled Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers, according to German media on Friday.

 

Ukraine has been asking Europe for 18 German-made PzH 2000 howitzers to fully arm their artillery battalion, according to the DPA news agency. Germany has sent 7 howitzers and the Netherlands donated 5.

 

According to DPA, citing people close to the German Foreign Ministry, Berlin told Kiev it would give a few more weapons as long as other EU partners joined the procurement plans.

 

The German foreign ministry has been in contact with Amsterdam and other countries to get 6 more 155mm weapons to Kiev.

 

Russia has recently warned that any military cargoes will be dealt with like military targets.

 

Half of Germans oppose sending heavy weapons to Ukraine

 

In April, according to the German Institute for New Social Answers, half of Germans are against delivering heavy arms to Ukraine, while 43% of respondents are in support of the deliveries. The poll comes at the request of Bild, a German news outlet.

 

Another poll, though similar, was held by the German Institute for Social Research and Statistical Analysis, Forsa. The poll showed that 51% of Germans supported delivering offensive arms to Ukraine, while 37% stood against it.

 

Earlier on April, 20 prominent cultural figures, German scientists, and politicians, including former Bundestag VP, Antje Vollmer, sent an open letter to Olaf Scholz to stop sending arms to Ukraine.

 

Those that sent the letter said that "Germany and other NATO countries have de facto made themselves a party to the war by delivering weapons," therefore Ukraine became "a battlefield for a conflict between NATO and Russia over the security order in Europe."

 

Scholz said that Germany will no longer be supplying weapons to Ukraine, as the German weapon inventories are too exhausted.

Al Mayadeen's correspondent reported that a number of civilians and soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack on a civilian passenger bus in the countryside of Al-Raqqa on the Zamla road within Jabal Al-Bishri.

 

According to Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Damascus, the bus was attacked by ISIS militants with machine guns.

 

The Syrian news agency SANA stated that the initial death toll was 13 soldiers along with an additional 3 wounded.

 

Later, a Syrian military source revealed that 11 soldiers and two civilians were killed in the terrorist attack that targeted a civilian bus on Al-Raqqa-Homs road.

 

According to a military source, "At around 6:30 am, a civilian bus was targeted by a terrorist attack on Al-Raqqa-Homs road in Al-Jira area, which led to the death of 11 soldiers and two civilians, while 3 other soldiers were wounded."

 

In April, Syria sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and to the UN Security Council about the war crimes of the US-led international coalition in the city of Al-Raqqa in 2017.

 

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made it clear that the US military operation carried out by the forces of the illegitimate international coalition in Raqqa in the period from June to October 2017, led to the almost complete destruction of the city and thousands of its civilians," the Syrian Foreign Ministry statement indicated.

The letter stressed that the goal of the coalition's operation was to destroy infrastructure and public and private property and to target civilians.

It added that the number of casualties, particularly in Al-Raqqa, Ayn Al-Arab, and Al-Baghouz prove that the US and its allies have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity.

SYDNEY, June 7 (Reuters) - A Russian-owned superyacht docked in Fiji departed for the United States on Tuesday after a court in the Pacific island nation ordered its removal.

 

The 350-foot Amadea arrived in Fiji on April 13 after an 18-day voyage from Mexico. It was seized by Fiji authorities after the country's High Court granted a U.S. warrant last month that linked the yacht to sanctioned Russian oligarch Suleiman Kerimov.

 

The United States alleges Kerimov beneficially owns the Amadea, although lawyers for the vessel have denied this and told the court it was owned by another Russian oligarch, Eduard Khudainatov, the former chief of Russian energy giant Rosneft, who has not been sanctioned.

'Paedo’ Peter Nygard ‘wanted girlfriends to have abortions to use foetuses for age-defying stem cell research’

In “Predator King: Peter Nygard’s Dark Life of Rape, Drugs and Blackmail” Cronin - who also probed Jeffrey Epstein - she claims Nygard had an obsession with staying young.

 

The tycoon allegedly ended up establishing his stem cell research company on the island of St. Kitts, near his home in the Bahamas.

 

Cronin alleges the purpose was use aborted foetuses from his pregnant girlfriends to provide him with fresh stem cells.

 

“I may be the only person in the world who has my own embryos growing in a petri dish,” he said.

 

An ex-girlfriends, Suelyn Medeiros, wrote in a 2014 memoir about a trip she took with Nygard to Ukraine, where he was having stem cell research done.

 

“He asked, ‘Suelyn, do you know what the best stem cells are?’” she wrote, to which she replied “embryos”.

 

“Correct! If you got pregnant and had an abortion, we could use those embryonic cells and have a life’s supply for all of us: you, your mother and me. A lot of people are doing it,” he replied.

 

According to the book excerpts published in the New York Post, Medeiros says she “was beyond stunned.”

 

“This was the sickest thing I’d ever heard Peter say,” she said.

 

“I couldn’t speak for a moment. Finally, catching my breath, I said, ‘Peter, I do not believe in abortion.’”

 

Nygard would host what he called "Pamper Parties" - often at his private island resort Nygard Cay in the Caribbean.

Hawaii may be paradise to some, but it still has a problem when it comes to sex trafficking.

 

Experts have a hard time pinpointing the exact number of sex trafficking victims in Hawaii, but they do know it is much higher than the number of arrests and convictions for sex traffickers.

 

"Unlike drugs which can be sold once, children or adult victims can be sold many times. So, unfortunately it can be a very lucrative crime for the criminals," said FBI Honolulu's Special Agent In Charge Steven Merrill.

 

Each year in Hawaii, hundreds of adult sex trafficking victims are helped to get out. While the Hawaii Department of Human Services annually confirms more than a dozen cases of child sex trafficking.

 

Even with all those victims, since 2020, Honolulu police have not made any sex trafficking arrests. There have been very few sex trafficking prosecutions on county, state and federal levels.

 

"One of the reasons these cases are so difficult to prosecute is we need 100% of the cooperation of the victim to make them," added Merrill.

 

Some question why that is the case.

 

"Minors don't have a choice. If you are being sold for sex and you a minor - that is sex trafficking. If you are an adult you have to say you were forced or enticed or there was coercion involved. Why is necessary to have that victim testify, if you gather that evidence," said Ho'ola Na Pua Advocate & Community Outreach Coordinator Tammy Bitanga.

 

Decades before becoming an advocate against sex trafficking, Bitanga had a troubled childhood filled with physical, sexual and emotional abuse. Then she met a sex trafficker.
