NSW is home to highest number of Italian crime clans with three found in Sydney and 14 allegedly conducting their business in regional NSW.

 

There are 14 in Victoria, nine in South Australia, five in the ACT, four in Western Australia and two in Queensland.

While still early days, the experiment might one day lead to lab-grown human organs that can be transplanted into those who need them, potentially saving thousands of lives.

In the experiment, researchers in the US injected human stem cells into early-stage pig embryos. These hybrid embryos were then transferred into surrogate sows and allowed to develop until the first trimester.

 

More than 150 of the embryos developed into chimeras, which meant that they had developed the precursors of organs including the heart and liver, but they contained a small amount of human cells - around one in 10,000 of the hybrids' cells were human. This is a proof-of-concept experiment showing that human-pig hybrids are possible. The ultimate goal is to find a way to use these lab-grown human parts for transplants.

An anonymous user with the location "Boston, Massachusetts" has put up a series of phony segments spanning a variety of Israeli military institutions, including outposts of intelligence organizations and highly protected locations assumed to be linked with the Israeli nuclear program.

 

Executive director of Fakereporter, Achiya Schatz, expressed fear over the revelation. It's a risky strategy. The vaccine could fail or be delayed, and it won't solve all the problems. It won't be better at stopping outbreaks, just less likely to seed new ones. How much less likely remains to be seen. "Even if it is just 100 times safer, that will still be a big benefit," Wenger says, but the program is hoping for more.

 

Sutter worries GPEI is "putting all of its eggs into the nOPV basket." The novel vaccine could quickly lose its genetic stability if it exchanges key chunks of DNA with related viruses, he says. But how often these critical "recombination events" occur won't be known until the vaccine is used in larger populations. GPEI's Independent Monitoring Board noted recently that the program is "rather starry-eyed" about nOPV2's prospects.

 

If novel OPV2 doesn't work or vaccine-derived outbreaks spiral out of control before it is ready, the program might have little choice but to resurrect trivalent live vaccine, which would reintroduce immunity against type 2 in young children while maintaining protection against serotypes 1 and 3. VALE, Ore. (AP) — An Australian company has started drilling at a southeast Oregon site that could eventually host a large lithium mine.

 

Mineral exploration company Jindalee Resources Ltd. announced this week that it’s working to determine the extent of a lithium deposit in southern Malheur County, Oregon Public Broadcasting reported.

 

The company said in a news release that the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries has approved drilling of 39 holes to shore up Jindalee’s estimate of how much lithium exists there.

 

Jindalee has said the deposit west of the Oregon-Nevada border town of McDermitt is among the largest lithium deposits in the United States.

 

Bob Brinkmann with the state’s Mineral Land Regulation and Reclamation office said this appears to be the first application received to explore for lithium in Oregon.

 

A request for comment by the media outlet from Jindalee has not been returned.

 

Lithium is an extremely lightweight metal seen as key to a global transition away from fossil fuels to renewable energy. The element is a critical component of rechargeable batteries used to power electric vehicles and store power generated by things like wind and solar.

 

The Biden administration has said it wants to significantly increase the amount of lithium sourced and processed in the United States. Jindalee says the McDermitt Lithium Project has potential to do both.

 

A proposed lithium mine on the caldera in Nevada has been controversial for its potential ecological harm, desecration of a historic massacre site, and possible disruptions to ranching.

RT’s journalists were able to swiftly agree the purchase of a US-made Phoenix Ghost kamikaze drone

 

The lavish deliveries of ‘lethal aid’ from the US, UK and other NATO countries to Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia have led to marketplaces where some of those weapons can be purchased popping up on the dark web, RT Russian has learned.

 

The Ukrainian traders claim to offer not just small arms or body armor there, but also such sophisticated hardware as Javelin and NLAW anti-tank systems or Phoenix Ghost and Switchblade explosive drones.

 

That said, it’s not possible to completely rule out that the sellers actually did not have the said weapons in stock, as the RT investigators did not complete the purchase. Scamming schemes are common for dark web marketplaces.

 

RT was able to contact one of the said sellers through a marketplace on the darknet and agree the purchase, for a price of $4,000, of a Phoenix Ghost loitering munition, which had been developed by the US especially for the needs of the Ukrainian military.

 

As for the drone, the trader assured that it’ll be placed into a stash, with its coordinates and the photo of the spot to be shared after the payment is made through the marketplace, acting a guarantor of the deal. The parcel is going to be dug into the ground in the woods, he said.

 

When asked if the Phoenix Ghost could be delivered to an area outside Ukraine, specifically the Polish border town of Przemysl, he replied this won’t be a problem, but would cost an extra $1,000.

 

This potentially suggests that the Ukrainian arms smugglers may have already established contacts with border guards and are able to cross in and out of Poland without complications.

 

RT has also exchanged messages with another trader, nicknamed ‘weapons ukraine,’ who was looking to sell batches of US-made body armor at the price of $ 1,500 for five units, and M4 rifles with a silencer and a hundred bullets for $2,4000 thousand per set.

A former Australian Olympic swimming team physiotherapist accused of child sex offences allegedly spanning across several years has had his matter briefly heard in court.

 

 

Brisbane man Peter John Wells was arrested last month and charged with several offences including three counts of indecent treatment of a child under the age of 16.

 

 

Police allege the incidents occurred between 2002 and 2010 at the 51-year-old's physio practice in Kelvin Grove and a sports complex in Chandler.

 

 

Mr Wells, who is on bail, was meant to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court for the first time since being charged on Tuesday, but his appearance was excused.

 

 

His lawyer adjourned the case, and it is expected to be heard again next month.

 

 

Mr Wells has had an extensive career as a physiotherapist, including working for Swimming Australia for several years, and was part of the Olympic swimming teams at the Beijing and London Games.

Hochul signed a new gun control bill Friday after the Supreme Court ruled last week that the state's rules that make it difficult for residents to obtain a concealed carry permit were unconstitutional.

But both Pelosi’s office and the US Marshals Service said the claim is inaccurate, and the image does not show her in custody.

“This is Pelosi yesterday for her photo op after impeaching Trump. The interesting part is members of Congress don’t get secret service details. Think about that for a moment,” said a January 14, 2021 Facebook post which is no longer available.

 

“If you zoomed in closely you can see that these are US Marshalls. Anyone care to guess why they’re all female? When you are under arrest with 24 hour supervision and are female, they don’t put a man on your details,” it said, adding that “Nancy Pelosi is 100% arrested.”

A Queens man was arrested over the weekend and has been accused of committing two unprovoked stabbing attacks in the span of 24 hours. The suspected NYC subway slasher brandished a knife at NYPD officers just hours before the attacks. Despite having 14 prior arrests, he was released after just one night, at which point he carried out the random attacks.

 

Donny Ubiera, 32, reportedly stabbed two NYC commuters in separate incidents on Friday and Saturday.

 

The Queens man is accused of first stabbing a 62-year-old man onboard a southbound 7 train around 8:30 a.m. Friday, according to NBC 4 New York. Police said the victim was slashed in the face and hand, requiring several stitches at the hospital.

 

Ubiera allegedly fled the Queensboro Plaza station and was captured on surveillance footage. Police later released an image of the suspect, who was wearing a black and gold button shirt with black shorts.

 

In the second attack, which occurred the following morning around 7:15 a.m., a commuter was stabbed in the neck with a large knife. The victim, who was attacked on a subway platform, was rushed to an area hospital. The victim’s condition has been listed as “critical.”

Russian forces boost numbers after Turkey threatens operation in Syria

 

Since the beginning of the Russian special operation in Ukraine and the Turkish threat to launch a new military offensive in Syria, Russia has increased the number of its deployed forces in Northern Syria by about a third, as confirmed by Al Mayadeen sources.

 

The sources indicated that "two Russian cargo planes (Yuchen) arrived on Sunday at Qamishli Airport,” adding that these measures are part of Russia’s military measures in the region. According to Mehr, the planes were carrying more than 500 soldiers from the Russian paratroopers unit.

 

Furthermore, the sources revealed that Qamishli’s geographical location plays a significant role in its proximity to the “illegal bases of the American occupation in the province of Hasaka, and the fact that it is in contact with the Turkish border, which is, at the same time, a border for NATO."

 

The same sources pointed out that the current increase in the number of ground forces has been accompanied by an increase in its air force fleet about a month ago where “two warplanes and 6 combat helicopters arrived at the area and were added to the air forces previously stationed at the airport."

 

Given that information, and according to Al Mayadeen sources, "Al-Qamishli base became the second most important Russian base, after the Hmeimim base, in terms of armament and number of personnel, which gives an indication that the region may witness new developments.”

 

In the previous weeks, there have been indications that “Turkey will launch an imminent military attack after bringing in large military reinforcements, and conducting Ground maneuvers between the Turkish army and factions known as the "National Army"."

 

On May 23, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that "the Turkish army intends to carry out anti-terror military operations at the Turkish state borders," noting that "the decision on these operations will be taken soon."

 

Commenting on this, the Russian envoy to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, said the possible Turkish military operation in northern Syria would create "new security threats" to Turkey, as "the Kurdistan Workers' Party and the SDF will not disappear under this scenario."

 

Lavrentiev added that "Russia will try to convince Turkey of the futility of the possible military operation in northern Syria," stressing that his country "will not fight the Turkish forces and the “National Army" affiliated with Ankara."

 

Earlier on Monday, July 4, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated that Turkey believes Russia would not interfere with the operation of Turkish offensive forces in northern Syria, although tensions persist.
