Are All Men Created Equal?

 

Ideology is political religion, said the conservative sage Russell Kirk. And what is the defining dogma of the political religion, or ideology, of America in 2022? Is it not that, โ€œAll men are created equalโ€?

 

Yet, as with every religion, a basic question needs first to be asked and answered about this defining dogma of liberal ideology. Is it true? Are all men truly created equal? Are all races and ethnic groups equal? Are men and women equal? Are all religions equal? Or do we simply agree to accept that as trueโ€”and treat them all equally?

 

All Americans, we agree, have the same God-given rights to โ€œlife, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,โ€ the same constitutional rights in the Bill of Rights, and the same civil rights, enshrined in federal law. But where is the historic, scientific or empirical proof of the defining dogma of American democracy that โ€œall men are created equalโ€?

 

Thomas Jefferson, the statesman who immortalized the words, did not believe in equality, let alone equity. How he lived his life testifies to this disbelief. When he wrote the Declaration of Independence that contained the famous words, Jefferson was a slave owner. In that document, he speaks of the British as โ€œbrethrenโ€ connected to us by โ€œties of our common kindred,โ€ ties of blood. But not all of those fighting against us were the equals of the British. There were, Jefferson wrote, those โ€œmerciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.โ€

 

In an 1815 letter to John Adams, Jefferson celebrated โ€œa natural aristocracy among men. Corrupt ex-NYC judge Sylvia Ash sentenced to 15 months for obstructing justice

 

A corrupt former Brooklyn judge was sentenced to 15 months in prison Wednesday after being convicted of obstruction of justice charges โ€“ a case that โ€œstruck at the heart of the criminal justice system,โ€ a federal jurist said.

 

The disgraced Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice, Sylvia Ash, was convicted of conspiracy to obstruct justice and other counts at trial last year for attempting to throw off federal investigators who were probing embezzlement at the Municipal Credit Union.

 

Ash previously served as chair of the Board of Directors of the MCU, a credit union that primarily serves New York City civil servants, such as firefighters, sanitation workers and police officers.

 

She helped the former CEO of the MCU, Kam Wong, embezzle millions of dollars from the financial institution, in part, by signing a misleading memo that purported to show he was authorized to receive the cash.

 

US District Judge Lewis Kaplan said it was โ€œas tragic a case as I have seen in almost 28 yearsโ€ as he handed down the sentence in Manhattan federal court.

 

Kaplan noted that Ash, who rose from a modest immigrant upbringing, had thrown away her career, her status in the community and her reputation.

 

Her downfall was a โ€œjust consequence of your own dishonest, corrupt and frankly outrageous conduct,โ€ the judge said.

 

โ€œIt was not aberrational. It was calculated,โ€ Kaplan said of the scheme.

 

Assistant US Attorney Eli Mark said Ash used her position as a judge in an attempt to get away with her crimes.

 

โ€œShe was a lawyer and a judge and she knew exactly what she was doing. She draped herself in the prestige of her position to get away with her conduct,โ€ Mark said at the sentencing hearing.

 

In brief remarks, Ash acknowledged that she had lived the American dream โ€“ but threw it all away by committing her crimes.

 

โ€œI was blessed with life beyond my imagination,โ€ she said. โ€œThat is all gone now โ€ฆ itโ€™s been destroyed. I have no one to blame but myself.โ€

 

US Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement that the sentence โ€œsends a clear message that those who attempt to thwart a federal investigation face serious consequences for that corrosive conduct.โ€

 

Ash resigned from the bench earlier this month, according to the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct.

Another attempt to minimize the magnificence of the human life and existence. You only live once, so go ahead and do harmful things to your own being, because the parasites feed off of your lower energies. Party like a rock star, and drink yourself to death. "Michael Avenatti, former attorney for adult actress Stormy Daniels, pleaded guilty to five criminal counts on Thursday in federal court.

 

During his Santa Ana, California, court hearing, the anti-Trump lawyer pleaded guilty to four charges of wire fraud related to defrauding clients, Fox News reported.

 

He also admitted to obstructing and impeding the Internal Revenue Service from collecting up to $5 million in unpaid taxes.

 

Although he was suspended by the California State Bar, Avenatti represented himself. He was unable to reach a deal with the prosecution before now, but Fox reported that he ultimately "decided to change his plea in an effort to hold himself accountable and avoid any further embarrassment to his family."

 

Avenatti offered to plead guilty to the charges last month.

 

He was already sentenced in June to four years in prison for defrauding Daniels.

 

Avenatti faces up to 83 years in prison for the crimes to which he pleaded guilty on Thursday.

 

Federal prosecutors are expected to announce next week whether they plan on pursuing 31 additional criminal charges against Avenatti.

 

If the government does not bring additional charges against the attorney, his sentencing is expected to be in mid-September.

 

Regardless, he will be forced to pay more than $1 million in fines and about $14 million in restitution, Fox reported. "

DeSantis Doubles Down on Vaccinations, Says Florida Will Not โ€˜Jabโ€™ Babies

 

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has doubled down on his policy of โ€œno jabs for babiesโ€ at a press conference in Callahan on June 20.

 

โ€œWe recommend against [vaccinating babies],โ€ the governor told the crowd. โ€œWe are not going to have any program where weโ€™re trying to jab six-month-old babies with mRNA. Thatโ€™s just the reality.โ€

 

DeSantis pushed back on media coverage that painted Florida in a bad light for the policy decision and accused the White House of spreading misinformation and trying to shame the state into submission.

 

โ€œItโ€™s what they do,โ€ he said of the negative media coverage. โ€œWeโ€™re not surprised the White House would amplify the lie because thatโ€™s what they doโ€”they thought somehow we would be like embarrassed by that.โ€

 

The White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told news outlets on June 17 that DeSantis had โ€œreversed course and is now ordering vaccines,โ€ which led Florida press secretary Christina Pushaw to fire back accusing Jean-Pierre of โ€œspreading disinformation.โ€

 

โ€œFlorida is not placing any orders of COVID shots for zero to 5-year-old babies and kids,โ€ Pushaw posted on Twitter.

 

โ€œWhat they have couched as a reversal is actually the governorโ€™s steadfast position that โ€ฆ Florida does not recommend, nor distribute, shots for babies. Health care providers that want the vaccines can obtain them and any parent who wants it for their child can get it.โ€

 

โ€œNo state policy change in Florida. The only thing thatโ€™s changed was the federal government issued the EUA [emergency use authorization] for the shots today,โ€ she continued. โ€œRetract your lies.โ€

 

On June 15, the U.S. Food and Drug Administrationโ€™s (FDA) advisory panel voted unanimously to recommend Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for children as young as six months saying that the benefits outweigh the risks.

 

The governor said that after studying the dataโ€”and looking at what other European countries are doingโ€”he said Florida will not be ordering the vaccine for children.

 

โ€œWeโ€™re following the data,โ€ DeSantis said. โ€œI would just caution people, look at the actual data in the clinical trial. Itโ€™s the weakest possible data that you could possibly see โ€ฆ doesnโ€™t even track the outcomes.โ€

 

DeSantis said that people can do what they think is right for their children.

 

โ€œOur Department of Health has looked at it. There is no proven benefit to put a baby on mRNA so thatโ€™s why our recommendation is against it,โ€ he said.

 

An area of concern with the clinical trials was that the FDA was not taking into consideration the very young children who had recovered from COVID, the governor said.

 

โ€œThey donโ€™t have any clinical data on that,โ€ he said. โ€œThese people in Washington have rejected the idea of natural immunityโ€”they said that the vaccine was better than prior infection and every credible study thatโ€™s been done has said thatโ€™s not the case.โ€

Pope Francisโ€™ peace prayer for Ukraine recalls prophecy 105 years ago about Russia

Pope Francis prayed for peace in Ukraine at a ceremony that looked to a prophecy about peace and Russia that stems back more than a century to purported visions of the Virgin Mary to three peasant children in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917.

The significance of the prayers needed some explaining to those unfamiliar with Catholic history.

 

The Pope on March 25 consecrated Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary with a prayer asking for peace in the world, Catholic News Agency reported.

At the end of a penitential service in St. Peterโ€™s Basilica, Francis carried out the act, saying: โ€œMother of God and our Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we solemnly entrust and consecrate ourselves, the Church and all humanity, especially Russia and Ukraine.

โ€œAccept this act that we carry out with confidence and love. Grant that war may end and peace spread throughout the world.โ€

Francis invited bishops, priests and ordinary faithful around the world to join him in the consecration prayer, which opened with the pontiff entering St. Peterโ€™s Basilica before an estimated 3,500 people, The Associated Press reported.

 

โ€˜FREE US FROM WARโ€™

โ€œFree us from war, protect our world from the menace of nuclear weapons,โ€ the Pope prayed.

It ended with Francis sitting alone before a statue of the Madonna.

There, he solemnly asked forgiveness that humanity had โ€œforgotten the lessons learned from the tragedies of the last century, the sacrifice of the millions who fell in two World Wars.โ€

 

In his homily, Francis said that the consecration โ€œis no magic formula but a spiritual act.โ€

โ€œIt is an act of complete trust on the part of children who, amid the tribulation of this cruel and senseless war that threatens our world, turn to their Mother, reposing all their fears and pain in her heart and abandoning themselves to her,โ€ he said.

Since Russia invaded its neighbor on Feb. 24 in what it calls a โ€œspecial military operationโ€, the Pope has implicitly criticised Moscow, Reuters reported.

He has strongly condemning what he has called an โ€œunjustified aggressionโ€ and denouncing โ€œatrocities,โ€ but he had not mentioned Russia by name.

He used the words Russia and Russians on March 25, although as part of a prayer and a homily.

CIA Director William Burns acknowledged on Thursday that his agency was watching "very intently" the threat of President Vladimir Putin's willingness to use tactical or low-yield nuclear weapons as Russia continues its war in Ukraine.

 

Speaking to an audience at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Burns said that "potential desperation" from the Russian leadership to portray a victory in Ukraine increases the risk to the use of nuclear weapons.

 

"None of us can take lightly the threat posed by a potential resort to tactical nuclear weapons or low yield nuclear weapons," Burns said. "We don't."

 

Burns added that so far, he had seen no "practical evidence" that would suggest such a move was imminent.

 

He was answering a question posed by former Georgia Senator Sam Nunn. Nunn was instrumental in creating a program that brought nuclear weapons out of Ukraine and other former Soviet states.

It's a coincidence how you mentioned that you were praying for Zev last night because he actually came to my mind, indirectly, while I was praying to God and thanking Him for giving my wife a further sign about things I have told her in the past regarding Elijah and manifestations of God's Holy Spirit (Christ). One prayer word was Tzabaoth. As I repeatedly mediated on the word, I recalled how all are saying it wrong. It is actually not pronounced as a Zab but a Zev, which actually brought about the recall of Dr Z for a moment. I thought about this man and what he was doing in regards to the current struggles and wished him God's blessings and quickly dismissed it as I continued thanking God for all the miracles.
